Quirky little bar near Highbury and Islington station, tucked away off the main road. This bar is a like stepping back in time with music from 40’s and decked out like another era almost makes you feel like you’ve stepped into a prohibition bar. They have a great cocktails and a happy hour between 4 and 7 where there are some cocktails at 2 for £10. There are a few seats inside, but try avoiding sitting to close to the men’s as you may get a waft. There is a great atmosphere and it feels all cosy inside, I will definitely be back for some more.

I just moved to angel and was looking for a fun and casual bar with great cocktails to celebrate my birthday. I stumbled across four sisters on Unilocal and they were incredible! Not only did they reserve space for my group at no minimum or charge, they had amazing cocktails, a great atmosphere and were great hosts. I have already been back since and would highly recommend this to anyone looking to host a small party or just grab a delicious drink!

Came here for happy hour with a local friend(Lisa C.) and Katie P. Yay global elite members! Glad that it was happy hour because otherwise those drink prices are kinda steep. During HH(5−7pm) they were 2 for 10 pounds. The spot was on the quieter end, so nice if you are trying to have a real convo. The ambiance is really nice. Comfy seating and dim lighting. Bartender was really friendly. Drinks were the type of cocktails that are truly crafted. He spent a good amount of time on each drink making it perfect. Lots of creative and tasty drinks.

The cocktails(both the classics and their own originals) are excellent — and there is none of the pretentiousness that comes with many good cocktail bars in London. You don’t need to reserve or queue. Even when the place is busy, there will always be a spot for you somewhere. Perfect for both a casual drink or for larger events like birthday parties. You can always depend on the good atmosphere.

The cocktails here are pretty tasty. But as I’m quite tight(frugal, sorry) I’d only recommend going during happy hours. Nice concept but the music is bloody irritating. There’s only so much 1930’s-esque a person can take. They also only have one women’s toilet. Not ok. The seating arrangement makes no sense to me. Not my cup of tea.

Came here on a weeknight(I can justify it as being on my way home), and it is actually a cute little place to catch up over a cocktail or two. I’ve been right next door at Canonbury Kitchen but never noticed this bar, though I admit that I find the sign a bit weird /creepy for my tastes… I told the bartender that I liked sweet fruity drinks, and so for the first one, I got a cocktail that had a base of passion fruit and rum, and on top they had half a passion fruit shell filled with alcohol and set on fire. Unfortunately it wasn’t well executed and the alcohol kept burning for quite a while and ended up melting my straw but was too hot to touch, so I couldn’t drink my cocktail until eventually the bartender helped me out and just flipped it over into the cup. My second cocktail was a strawberry based drink with wine, and it was actually quite strong, to the point that I couldn’t finish my drink. But both were beautifully presented and I think you will definitely find something you like in the large board of 30+ cocktails on the wall… just don’t come here expecting beer or wine!

Top shelf bartenders. Period. Great and creative cocktails. One dude made me a gin manhattan. What?! Insanely good. No joke. You need to go here for cocktails. Trust me. Out of the way from the craziness and chill… but still close enough to the energy of the bars and restaurants on Upper St. Don’t half step. Get here early and grab a sofa seat near the front window.

I’ve been to The Four Sisters many times now, and it’s always been an absolutely delightful experience. The cocktail list is most imaginative and changes constantly, I’ve tried quite a few now and they were all delicious and well made. This place only uses top-shelf spirits, and make their own infused vodkas, gins and syrups with some pretty original flavour combinations(violet anyone?). The atmosphere is great, dark and relaxed, the music selection awesome, and yeah, the cocktails are pretty pricey ranging from £8−10 but you definitely get what you pay for. Also, they have a happy hour on every day from 4 – 7. There’s great attention to the detail, the drinks were awesomely and creatively presented, and the menu is printed on a mock-newspaper with a little story accompanying each drink description. The service was friendly and speedy. It is a great place for a date or a catch-up with a friend!

Awesome cocktails in a retro environment. 4.5 stars Highlights: — Unique cocktails: list up on the wall was hard to choose from because all looked intriguing. Was very happy with my chili infused vodka, strawberry, lime, and Cointreau one(piquant cocktail). Could see the custom infusions and mixers behind the bar — Atmosphere: small bar area and couches in side room. Cozy and understatedly cool Lowlights: — Were in a rush for dinner so only got to have one cocktail I’m not often out this way, but would love to come back for more cocktails

I am not sure where the other reviewers went, or if they were really unlucky! I absolutely love this place. The cocktails are fantastic(yes I know what a decent cocktail should be like), the bar staff(or mixing geniuses, as I like to call them) are so lovely, always chatty and even, when I just don’t know what I want rustle up something amazing for me. It is worth noting that the cocktails don’t taste or appear strong, as they are very well mixed(you really shouldn’t have an over powering taste of alcohol in a cocktail, otherwise it is a bad cocktail…). I certainly notice the alcohol content after two, and perhaps if you want a filthy, strong Sambuca you should go to the Slug and Lettuce! These guys also make their own flavoured vodka and gin and use really top notch ingredients. They have good bar snacks and comfy seats. Definitely worth a visit(or five)

I actually liked this place as Four sisters when I went in. Perhaps it’s because I only with to 25 Canonbury Lane once and am not as attached to it. The décor seems the same, the music seems the same. The only outstanding difference is that the bartenders were super nice and we just kept telling them to make us drinks based on our preferred alcohols(mine was gin, my friends was vodka). It was like a surprise in a glass.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO What happened to 25 Canonbury Lane? To be honest I didn’t even notice it was a different bar until I was looking at the cocktail list and asked them what type of cocktail the Four Sisters was and why was there no price on it. Either it looks exactly the same or those 4 cocktails I had at Lucky Voice were far stronger than usual… My friend was pretty pleased with her cocktail so we didn’t experience the cocktail disasters described by other reviewers. It lacked a bit of atmosphere but then again, it was only a Thursday night. Not sure why they needed to change the name but not change much else about the place but hey ho.

Formerly 25 Canonbury Lane, now The Four Sisters. Early Sat evening a Low key crowd and same appealing dark wood ambience as the previous bar. Music was OK and not too loud so you could talk. Ordered two of the featured cocktails which sounded good but were not well balanced, not chilled enough and weak. I am now quite cautious about ordering cocktails in bars unless I know it’s reliable since too often it’s just an excuse to charge £7.50 or more for a weak, poorly made drink. For that price the customers deserve better. Maybe they will get their act together and realise that they need to up their game.

Appalingly bad cocktails and very badly organised. My first drink since reopening as the Four Sisters(a mojito) was far too acidic and lacked alcohol and the cosmopolitan I ordered next was first made with gin and then when it was finally made with vodka, tasted quite unpleasant — weak and insipid and totally unlike any cosmo’ I’ve ever had before. A friend ordered a white wine only to be told there was none and then when he ordered a margarita was told there was no tequila. This prompted the barman to send a shady looking character who’d been hanging about to go out and buy some — not exactly inspiring confidence. The music was quite good — 20’s and 30’s jazz but was far too loud. Won’t be going back there.

You can’t fault 25 Canonbury for upmarket cocktails in a stylish setting. A fab destination whether you’re hosting a party(the self-contained back room can be booked), meeting friends for a catch-up or even working during the day, as the bar sells mighty fine coffee and has wifi. Must return there soon!

Was there on a Wednesday night which seemed relatively quiet. Prices are about average for Islington, which is to say they’re not cheap, but not outrageous for London either. My friend had a massaman curry as well which he seemed to enjoy, so keep in mind there’s a Thai menu if you’re hungry. Music was loud enough to prevent eavesdropping but quiet enough to hear companions — perfect for me.

Very small i.e. intimate cocktail bar, filled with people who all seem to know one another. However, you’re never made to feel unwelcome by the friendly and hospitable staff, and the cocktails are the best in the area. Due to it’s small size, best to visit for one cocktail before moving on. It’s refreshing to see that places like this can exist in the monotony that is Islington.

Not only is there a log fire, there is mulled wine which is always nice at this time of year! I love this place. It’s really cosy, good value thai food and an impressive selection of cocktails and wine. A stones throw from Upper St but has a completely different feel. Get there early evening if you’re with a big group as space is limited!
