I went there with friends on a Friday night and it was good. We had booked a table in advance. At first I was surprised by the size of the place as the main restaurant area is located downstairs in parlour like rooms, nicely decorated with books and some old furniture. Staff was very friendly and the atmosphere just really lovely! From the lovely, friendly staff, starter to main and wine, this was a very good choice and a decent price for London.

I had one of the best meal experiences in London here. To start, very friendly staff directed me to the lovely enclosed garden in the back. I asked to wait 15 minutes for the regular menu to start and the staff happily let me sit, reading a book and offering a jug of water. At noon, I ordered a small asparagus and goat cheese tartine. Man, what a DELICIOUS dish. Tons of rich goat cheese smeared on a large slice of grain bread. Shaved parm chunks with diced green peppers as well. I got the dish sans egg. A small green salad with a light dressing accompanies it. Overall a salty, rich plate of goodness for 4.50 quid. The waitresses were constantly in the garden so it was always easy to get their attention for drink top-ups and such. They all had smiles on their faces and were quite kind. This pleasant attitude is so rare in London, I had to tip well! Well done Gantry!

We booked a table for 4 at 11am, then changed the time to 11.30am and then turned up with 5 people… but the delightful people here were so accommodating and even found us a great table in the conservatory. We were here for the breakfast and three of us ordered off the menu, and two of us just had to be fussy and order various items individually. They catered to every wish! The coffee was fantastic and they even had skimmed milk(YEY!) I had the English breakfast with poached eggs, and apart from some hollandaise sauce that appeared on my eggs(I don’t like hollandaise sauce!) it was all very yummy. The mushrooms were cooked with rosemary and the cumberland sausage was delicious. I was not keen on the bacon, but that’s probably because it was smoked and I’m not a fan of food tasting like sweet smoke. My fellow breakfastarians between them tried the Eggs Special Royal(to celebrate our new princess!) which was apparently delicious, but came with cold avocado under the egg, which made the temperature of the whole dish a little odd. There were no other complaints though and we all agreed to go back very soon. Lovely place!

One of the best places to dine or have a coffee in Brockley. Though their coffee is a bit on the small side, it’s very good, probably better than the other dedicated independent coffee shops in the area. The artichoke soup with mini bread sticks are worth coming back for time and time again. Lovely French manageress and her head chef husband. Weekends get busy so if advise you to reserve a table.

Great spot for a quick drink or to meet up with friends for the start of your night. Average London prices(£4.50 a pint) but a great vibe, atmosphere and nice décor. The only negative is the smell of rubbish when you’re sat outside, due to what looks like industrial kitchen bins located right next door.

Looked after us all. a surprise birthday party for a friend that started at 9pm. They did well to get us through a full dinner by 11.30pm…but then I think we’d all wished that’d been slower. Good food. Great night.

I love these little off-the-beaten-track finds. Who’d think that such a divine little French/British haven could exist in such a place as Brockley? Well, the likes of New Cross, Catford, and Brockley might not have the reputation for cool that Soho has — but if you keep your eyes open, you’ll suss out the sweet spots. And if you’re even vaguely near by, this little discovery is certainly worth a stop-off. It has a small patio out the front, and a beer garden out the back(which we couldn’t explore, since there are winter opening hours). The restaurant is situated downstairs, but you can order from the menu upstairs at the bar also, should you wish. There may be barely enough room to swing a cat, but what room there is was filled with jolly folks of all walks and a welcoming bustle. At first we couldn’t find a seat, but were quickly welcomed to join another table until one became free. I overheard several folks chatting away in French(hence the opening description) which lead me to believe the owner may well be also. The menu offered up various delicious sounding bites, but alas, since the veggie burgers were off we didn’t dine there. It’s a bit of a posh array, and comes at a price, but certainly looked like it would be worth it. In place of a dessert cart, I spotted a cheese cart downstairs — very cool. The fridges are packed with intriguing IPAs, ales, and other beers for the connoisseur and they have cocktail specials, which sound well worth a try. Having not eaten, I didn’t partake. There was also an offer of prosecco for £22 — which was sorely tempting! All in all, I’m hoping I’ll have the chance to come here and eat properly. It’s a charming place, with really friendly bar staff, and a lovely vibe. Reminds me a little bit of North Bar and Friends of Ham, in Leeds. Give them a try!

Just a short walk away from Brockley Overground station is this lovely, quaint restaurant. I understand the couple who own it are English/French and the European influence shows in the décor and the menu. The menu offers a good selection of fish & meat dishes and changes seasonally. I started with a tasty Bloody Mary which I took as a positive omen. I was then served the fluffiest Roquefort soufflé I’d ever seen or eaten, delicious! A few of us shared the seafood platter of gravalax, smoked mackerel and pancakes which was presented gorgeously and provided a delectable mix of flavours. A friend bravely ordered a bowl of mussels… which I find are usually too chewy for me. However these were steamed to perfection and melted in my mouth as I savored each one. Interestingly, they serve bread along with butter which is speckled with… seaweed! I thought it was parsley, but was corrected by my friend who is a regular there. Prices are reasonable, service is very good. Homey and simple with a friendly atmosphere, it’s a great place for lunch, dinner, or simply a few drinks.

Great cozy place for a drink or a meal. Was recommended to come here by my homestay host. It is a bar upstairs and a restaurant downstairs. Came on a Sunday night, lively but not busy. Ordered a camembert round for a starter and Sunday Roast for entrée. Both were delicious and big enough to share for 2 people. Great staff as well, friendly.

It’s ok I guess, nice to have more bars and restaurants but bad when they are costly!
