Seemed nice enough. Quiet when we went in, but the beer was good. Décor is a bit more traditional, but pleasant enough. It’s not quite a designer Gastro-pub but neither is it tired old boozer. Didn’t try any food but the menus seemed ok.

Being of more ‘senior’ years I remember The Railway from days gone by with all its various landlords; and whilst it wasn’t the most inviting pub, for much of the time it did at least serve good ale at reasonable prices. The Glasshouse has upped the stakes and the prices to match; but perhaps more time and effort should be spent on attending to the quality of the limited quantity of ales on offer Unfortunately the seating is no longer what I would call comfortable or sufficient in quantity. It is either ‘sink into’ sofas or ‘stuck in the air’ bar stools, but due to the layout when a few customers have spread out there is little chance of a seat. The food is said to be very good, but the prices seem to put it into competition with some very serious hitters in the quality stakes; and I haven’t taken the chance of spending what I would consider to be a fair amount on a pub meal.

A new addition to the New Malden bar and restaurant ‘scene’. New Malden has sadly lacked a decent bar/restaurant(lots of good Korean/Japanese places, but that’s about it). This was the former Railway pub(not a place where you really wanted to go) so it’s an improvement on that. Décor decent, food decent and service ok(although has been quite busy when I’ve been there). Definite worth a try and I hear that they have live music on certain evenings.
