If you need your grease fix, go here. I really like the chips, and the optional curry sauce is a real recommendation. Selection is wide, albeit a bit too varied for my liking. I don’t kno how many international cuisines they can really do justice. Chicken and kebab is supposedly good, I didn’t care much for the very simple vegetarian burger. It is a bit hit or miss, but if you stick to the after-party classics, you’ll be just fine. Portions are massive for the price, and the friendly service often adds even more to your plate. They are quiet jovial, which makes for a nice atmosphere. You can get combination deals that save you money on the regular prices, which already are not much. So overall: Good for fast snacks, and I appreciate their takeaway service.

Food is pretty decent, not the best thing in the world but standard for a takeaway. Tad greasy, but what do you expect from a place called the Golden Fryer?! Hygiene didn’t look the best, but if you can get past that for a takeaway, pretty good!

Typical burger joint, but unlike all other fried chicken places, the burgers here are huge, the meat is juicy and delicious and they use a lot of different sauces. I once asked for some chips along with the burger and for just 50p he gave me an entire box full of it. The doners are fantastic, the kebabs are to die for and you can get a full meal for under 4 pounds. I have lived off this place while I was living on campus at Queen Mary. So if you’re in the area and looking for a quick bite, stop by here!

This was one of my first meals upon arriving in London and it was awesome. Greasy chicken donor was huge and under 4 quid! The sauce was awesome as well. The guys who work there were funny and quick too. Will be spending much time here.

When my brother came to visit me at Queen Mary I had only one hour to show him around the surrounding area. The Golden Fryer was the only place he had to visit. As a vegetarian, it may come as a surprise to some that I would often frequent the Fryer for my evening and late night cravings. The vegetarian burger was hardly to die for and many times I would forgo it all together. A large order of chips with a healthy serving of salt and vinegar would be a sufficiently greasy and filling meal. Perhaps the Fryer’s greatest appeal was its proximate location to QMUL housing and the ease by which one became familiar with the gregarious staff members.

Golden fryer! The go-to late-night post-club chip shop for all the wonderful students at QMUL. Greasiness at its best, indeed. While I was studying in London and just needed a kebab asap, this would be my stop. The chips were often soggier than one might expect, however.
