I was on the hunt for a pub to watch the football in the Streatham area for the start of the new season and decided to try out The Greyhound on account of the big signs hanging outside advertising Sky Sports. The pub is very spacious inside with a big screen hanging up from a high ceiling. There are also screens dotted around the rest of the bar meaning that there was plenty of seats available to watch the match, a real plus compared with the pubs in Clapham which are always too busy. The drinks are very cheap for London with two pints coming to £7.50 but the beer seemed a little off when I was there. They probably need to clean out their pipes. The food menu wasn’t up to much which was a shame. They also have a very large beer garden which is an odd place with mismatched fences and a decking area that seems out of place compared with the rest of the garden.

Stones throw away, very convenient and have been frequenting this pub in its various guises since arriving on these shores at the age of 2! The historic building has been skilfully restored and is now one of the nicest pubs in South London, the only problem with the vast area is that if it isn’t packed(as it is during a major sporting event or sunny weekend) it can lack atmosphere. Wide selection of drinks including new beers and wines, have found the bar staff and owners keen to meet demand so if there are any requests rest assured an effort will be made to accomodate. Standard pub fare on the menu but cooked to a high standard(perhaps a bit pricier than expected), the highlight is the indian meu with various sizzling hot plates of chicken and lamb with samosas and kebabs to start — delicious and very reaosnable. Summertime bbqs also worth checking out. There is a club downstairs with a foot print almost as large as the bar upstairs, this can be hired out and is a good venue if throwing a party — i think you can even bring your own dj. Other activities include salsa classes, quiz night and occasional showcases of local wares — there were some old courtly costumes being sold for theatre production companies a few weeks ago. Friendly staff and a good local support from regulars, make sure you pop in if you are in the area!

I dropped in here recently for the first time in ages. It has recently has a makeover and feels really large inside. The staff were friendly and the beers on tap include the regular Krounenboug, Stella, Fosters, Strongbow. The lighting makes it feel more bar than pub, but the ceilings are high so it does feel very large. They have some excellent big sofas, and comfy chairs and do food specials during the football according to a friend who is a regular down here. He also told me it is a great place to watch football and whilst I didn’t see that, i did see the mess and chair arrangement left after the gameit looked like some kind of party. Didnt see the greyhound though, im a bit gutted about that.
