Visited on 29.12.15.(first visit) Quite plush interior. Drinks reasonably priced and unusually no admission fee. Very attractive girls and as I was early(1−5pm) only £10 for private dances. Not that private as in room with others — although this has benefit as more to see! Girls dance on stage and all were very friendly and not too pushy for private dances. So overall a quality and relaxed venue — give it a try I am sure you will not be disappointed! Will definitely go again!

Gets a 4* from me. Visited in the past when it was a tacky sticky carpet club. Has been refurbished and is now much better. Pub prices with cheeky views thrown in!!!(The DJ is a massive pervert!!!)

Came in here for a co-workers leaving do. It was much nicer than I expected it to be! The booze prices are average for the city and no one thought it weird that there were(clothed) girls in there. We all pitched in and go our co-worker a dance and when he came out from the curtains he looked like he really enjoyed it. Before every dance the girls go around the bar with a glass and ask for money. You can put what you like in and then the girls go up on stage to dance. They were all very nice looking girls and no one hassled them. The security was also very nice. A good first strip club experience. I think I would go to a normal pub before going here again… but it was still a fun experience!

On NY night I was complaining about being 24 and about the fact that I have never-ever stepped foot in a strip joint. My brother in law found this«shocking» and told me there’s one strip club right across the street from his and if I wanna go, he’ll take me. Yay! We made plans and the following week, me and my boyfriend + other 2 couples went to discover the mysteries of The Griffin. I literally felt like I was in one of Tarantino’s movies. The place is nothing like I was imagining(flashy lights, neons, sofas etc). From the outside it looks like a normal pub– with blacked out windows(not that pub windows are normally black, but traditionally, pubs have frosted windows, so you can’t see who’s inside); a guy sitting at the front door –very polite, by the way– beer/smoking garden a couple of passes away from the entrance etc. The guy told us how we have to behave and what we can and can’t do, wished us a happy night and we went in. As soon as the door opened, hot air«hit» me. SO warm and nice! The place looks like a pub! With carpet, ancient looking bar, fruit machines etc. We went to the bar and got some drinks(reasonably priced) and we started looking around. Girls dressed in lingerie walk around with pints and ask for £1, prolly that was the only thing different from a normal pub. hahaha. After these pleasantries, a dancer gets on a small stage at the back of the room and starts dancing. She has a DJ/bodyguard guy next to her and she starts taking off all her clothes. Oh la la! You see everything and I mean EVERYTHING! Of course it was racy and you could see all the old people patting their foreheads with a handkerchief. The girls are good looking– I liked that, not skinny, fake ones(I think only one girl had fake boobs) and they move nicely, they always smile and they look happy and like they’re having fun. What I found«stupid» was the music they were«dancing» to. It didn’t work with the moves they were doing or vice-versa?! Meh, it doesn’t matter– you’re not there for the music in the end. haha. There is also an area which is curtained off, where you are not allowed unless you pay £10 for a private dance or you are a girl and you need the toilet. :P Several girls asked us if we want a private dance and they came up with all kinds of offers(2 girls for £10 and the ladies watch etc). We kept refusing and one of the girls told me I should find a better man, because the one I have doesnt wanna see a private dance. Hahahahahaha, that was funny. Anyways, I really don’t find that room private as, although its fairly large, you’re there with other dudes(and ladies going to the toilet), sitting on little individual sofas and watching the girl/s dance on tiny tables, doing the exact same thing she/they did on the main stage. No touching– you know, cuz normally in private dances, the girls can touch you. Nope, not here. No touchy! I hear during weekends its very busy and musty(ahahahaha, oh god) but on a week night, its ok. We went on a Wednesday night and it was very chilled out, a very after-work sort of place– you see loads of people in business suits. Anyhoo, it was a great experience and I’m glad I went. So if you’re in the neighbourhood and fancy some«dirty dancing» or on your lunch break(they are open from like 12 pm) and feel like eating some fish and chips while watching a naked, dancing girl– head down to The Griffin!

A pub for the boys. You probably already know why if you’re reading this review. Blacked out windows, huge men on the door, a heavy requirement for cash. Still, if you absolutely have to spend your money and free time indulged in this type of male bonding activity, there perhaps isn’t a finer spot for it. It’s all very tongue-in-cheek, a little boisterous, lots of banter and not much pretension to be found. The guy on the mic is wasted here. He’s a comedy genius.

I’m not a huge strip club goer, but I went here with some friends while I was visiting London. I do not recommend this place to women. You can expect to be the ONLY woman there other than the women dancing. You can also expect to have to walk through a room of private lap dances to use the women’s bathroom. The drinks were fine, but I think that this after-work sort of boys club feel is not the greatest place for a female tourist. Unless you are pretty drunk, I don’t think this place is tolerable.

I came to The Griffin to help a friend celebrate a long overdue new job. Not being big on prior research I thought that it would be a sports bar until the bouncer on the door the said immortal words«this is a strip club». Crossing the threshold I walked into a bar packed with men, the only women in the place were in their underwear ready to go on stage. I happily took my place in the crowd as a leering bloke and in the words of Patrick Stewart in Extras«saw everything». The drinks are reasonably priced but you need to have a constant supply of pound coins to pay for each performance, which if you stay for as long as I did can make it an expensive night.

I saw this listing under the pub category and I thought that it needed a review as this is not just a pub. It is so much more than just a pub. It is a pub with strippers! Having grown up in Montréal I have been one or two of these kinds of places — so I thought I would give the low down on this one. When you walk in the doorman does ask if you have been to a strip club before– so if you didn’t know– it is not like you would walk in by accident. The place was pretty small but full of people– bar prices seemed to me like typical london– just over 3 pounds for a pint. The only different thing than a regular pub was that every 10 minutes or so a girl would walk around and collect a pound from everyone in the place(you had better bring some one pound coins). Then a stripper gets onto a small stage at the back end of the room and takes off all of her clothes. The area at the back of the bar gets jam packed full of people while the show is on and then kind of relaxes when it is finished. Unfortunately the toilets are also there so you can forget about going while there is a show on. On the other side of the bar there is an area which is curtained off. This is where girls give private dances– though they are not really my idea of private as you are sitting in a large room with a bunch of other guys while the girls dance on a small table in front of you. There is no contact at all. It was ok I guess, a good place to go if you are a bunch of guys looking do to something different.

The Griffin — The Gentleman’s Pub. Don’t be put off by the lack of chairs. Who needs a chair when the pub has a pole? A central spot to enjoy a lunch time reasonably priced beer, watching the football scores come in, admiring the décor, enjoying the ambience and oh yes putting a pound in the pint glass of a scantily clad young lady before she decides to cool down by removing a few layers of clothing. This certainly isn’t a classy gentleman’s club, but it doesn’t pretend to be one. Worth mentioning that the quality of the carpet doesn’t refect the quality of the dancers.

Ah the Griffin(tvs10 goes all misty eyed)… …(10 mins later), ah yes where was I? I’m a big fan. The two other reviews hit the nail on the head, inside it’s a bit shabby but this isn’t meant to be Stringfellows and thank God for that. What it is though is a pub with Sky Sports and an alluring green stage complete with a pole raised to about 4 ft(so if she’s up at that height and I’m 6ft that means my line of sight is her …(for the slow amongst you, here’s a clue; they like building dams)). Anyway, you don’t pay to get in. You do put £1 in the pintglass every 10 mins or so when the next performer comes round to collect and should you want one, you can go off for a private dance or even better get a friend to buy you one for your birthday(cheers mate). If you ever get bored of watching strippers other favourite games are guess the nationality of the stripper(usually eastern european), real or fake(before she gets them out), rate the surgeon(only playable with the silicone gang, obviously), making puns about poles pole dancing and my particular favourite; spot the middle aged businessman who has just fallen in love.

Haha, this whole review has tickled me After admitting to aHunter i too have been to the seedy bar/strip club that is the griffin, it seemed only fair that I write my own review. Why was i there? I used to manage a rock band(really) and they’d just finished filming their music video(yes, really) and they wanted to do something rock and roll. As their manager, it seemed only right that i went with them. Now, i do understand that The Griffin is not exactly aiming itself at young straight girls. but actually, it doesn’t do a bad job. It’s not hideous. Really, it isn’t. And honestly, it’s just a bit of a dive. A dive with naked women dancing on stage. Girls don’t have to pay for the ladies coming round, so it can be a pretty cheap night out if you don’t mind the gyrating. But the girls were actually friendly and chatty. See, that’s what happens when girls go to strip clubs. We end up chatting. As seedy as it is, the girls seem happy and they are actually pretty(sorry, but i imagine with the whole pound in a pint glass thing that they’d be pretty rough.) And i can actually clear up how much a lapdance is. When i was ther eit was £35 quid. Or £30 per person if there were two of you. I was out having a fag and thats how the boys in the band spend my money. I don’t mind going to strip clubs, i’m not sure how i feel about inadvertantly paying for lapdances. Would i come here out of choice? Not. Do I mind the nakedness? no. not really. It’s just tits. Mostly fake though, in case you were wondering.
