Spit and sawdust, pool table, good tunes and a interesting mix of friendly patrons.

Old mans pub nestled between Hackney and Bethnal Green you could easily walk past without noticing but is actually a haven away from the trendies ‘ironically’ drinking up at other East End boozers. The clientele looks like they might smash a bar stool over your head if you turned the TV channel over but they’re actually always pretty friendly. Cheap pints too!

A freindly east end pub which has an excellent Sunday evening jazz night. Dog friendly.

Pub with a local feel that serves a decent selection of ales. I cannonised a nice pint of St Edmunds Golden Beer and enjoyed some football with a passionate set of punters. There was also an outside are which seemed popular with those who were not so interested by the sporting proceedings. Could be worth a look as the weather improves.

Want a real East end pub experience, then one of the best places you can go to is the Hare in Bethnal Green. No food is served here, in fact customers have been seen bringing their own takeaways in. What they do offer however, is good quality beer at reasonable prices from a landlord who clearly cares about his stock. So, if you want to remove yourself from the trendy part of town and enjoy an evening of no nonsense football, with a lively clientele, then you could do a lot worse than the Hare. Plus they have a pool table.
