Lovely little pub. Went here because someone told me it was Amy Winehouse’s favorite, stayed because of the atmosphere. Honestly, there’s nothing special to pinpoint, but I just like the tattered feel of the place.

Errr by the time we arrived at the Hawley Arms, we were at our 3rd stop on the friend’s-birthday-pub-crawl and probably our 8th beer and 4th shot. So it was less of a clear memory to be honest. I still remember quite well the pub and its arrangements nonetheless. We stopped briefly here on our way to dance at Joe’s(next review in line, and last one for that pub crawl). The pub was packed, obviously, it was late and on a Saturday night in Camden i wouldn’t expect less. I do not exactly remember where it’s situated, but i think it’s off Camden Market. On the ground floor you find a big table with benches, a few sofas and coffee tables and at the back an exterior terrace i would have enjoyed if i were still smoking(i quit 19 days ago, yay me!). On the right there are stairs to take you downstairs(i don’t know where that leads but probably the toilets) or upstairs where you will find another room and roof terrace, with a sitting area. We were served rather quickly by the crew. I think they were nice, but we didn’t take much time to discuss with them. If you’re a bit hungry you can pay extra for some kind crisps thingies to go with your beer. We did, and it was a good idea.

Great two story bar, with lots of room, decent prices, and live music. Best Guinness in Camden, and one of the best in London!

I like this pub, and will definitely go back, but I can sum it up with the following Ramones lyrics: «Rock, rock, rock, rock, rock n’ roll high school!» Loud(but excellent) music, beautiful old pub, excellent history, rockers. Take your date and your axe, but leave your mum out of it. .. unless she was a groupie for the ‘Stones. Also, the beer selection is bizarre(Olde Trippe, Hawley Ale, and some other such), and needs a bit of re-thinking. Why not just have Abbot Ale and Greene King IPA? Or is that not rock n’ roll enough? Anyway, rock on, Hawley Arms, and while you’re at it, please don’t bury me in a pet cemetery.

Nice English pub. Apparently Amy Winehouse used to hangout here. There is additional indoor and outdoor seating upstairs.

I came to this funky and slightly grungy bar in the heart of off beat Camden Town mainly because I just wanted to visit a «famous» London pub and heard is place was well known as Amy Winehouses old stomping grounds. We took bus 88 to get here from the city center and then had to walk a few minutes through a sort of sketchy Area to get here. It’s easy to miss it if you blink. There were a decent amount of people here when we arrived so we grabbed a sturdy old wooden table by the bar. There is a selection of a few draft beers and many bottled choices as well as full liquor bar. There is also food served but only until a certain time and the kitchen was closed by the time we arrived. We enjoyed our beer and did a bit of people watching(that was certainly interesting needless to say). Seemed like we were the only non locals at the time. Finally we headed up to the rooftop for a quick visit as it was quite chilly out. Nothing impressive as far as the view goes, but would be nice on a summer evening. Overall our experience was A Ok. Nothing outstanding but not terrible either.

This was easily my favorite pub in London. Located right in the heart of Camden Town. We popped in here for lunch and a pint on a Sunday afternoon after wandering the market. They serve Pieminister pies, which I was anxious to try. We all loved our pies! Both the beef and ale and the chicken and chorizo were delicious. Even the rest of their menu sounded great. Good beer selection, clean toilets, free wifi, plenty of seating, good music selection and friendly staff.

This is a great pub! We were fortunate enough to secure a table for lunch on a Sunday after perusing the neighboring Camden Markets. Service was fast and friendly. The Chicken & Chorizo pie was great, I’d suggest getting an extra side of gravy because it’s so damn good. Beer selection was not predictable, always a good thing. On top of it all the atmosphere was inviting and comfortable. I highly recommend swinging by if you’re in the area.

I’m biased on this one. I love the place. More than anywhere in London. To a regular this is a cool spot to chill with great music and loveable characters. There’s live music on roughly once a week and they occasionally come up with fresh ideas for food, drink and entertainment. To the outsider or tourist it might seem a little cold but then again it’s tough working in Camden and having to pose for the same photos and answer the same questions each day. But if you keep it genuine you’ll enjoy your time here. Big love Hawley x

Rock music, pub lighted with candles which gives to this place this cosy atmosphere ! We can guess why this pub was one of Amy’s favorite :) During the winter they have a crowded rooftop with some warmer there(hehe). If you want to go there to eat, the kitchen closes at around 8:30 — 9pm so don’t be too late. You can have some cask ale there if you like this, they change it really regularly ! Perfect warm-up for a crazy saturday night in Camden !

Having been here a few times in the evenings I expected lunch to be a similar affair(evenings are fantastic but a little grungy and busy for this place to make it into my lunch time shortlist). Well, I was in for a real surprise, the service was second to none — our waiter was awesome, table service for food and drinks, decently priced grub, no waiting for anything. A real surprise. The only things stopping me giving five stars are the beer(this is a Greene King place and their beers tend to suck) and the food(it felt a little standard-pub-grub like; fish cakes, burgers and roasts were as exciting as the menu got). If they got a few guest beers in and let the chef create his own menu this would be an amazing place.

I’ll admit it. I went in here as I’m staying in the area as I’m an Amy Winehouse fan and wanted to see her old spots. This place is pretty nice… maybe too nice for a gal like me? I’ve been in a few times now. They offer J20 as well as a hot tea if you don’t feel like boozing it up that day. Their Sunday roasts look amazing. Bathrooms were relatively clean. It is a hipster shit show. Don’t be mistaken. It’s skinny jeans central. This is not a pub where I’ve made a ton of friends. But I have at the Good Mixer where it’s more of a friendly vibe.

The Hawley Arms lives up to expectations. This is a great pub. The staff is incredibly attentive and friendly. There are some comfy couches you can perch yourself on, tables inside, and and a small area out back if you want to be outside. Reasonably priced pub for Camden that has a very unique vibe. It attracts a good crowd and carries a nice vibe with the music played.

‘Twas AOK indeed. A few items of interest: 1. Infamously, a past haunt of Amy Winehouse. 2. Maybe less infamously, provides«jelly babies» with the bill.(see Miriam’s review) A gal pal and I snagged a(very small) table right next to the espresso machine and I have to say, I felt wedged in for the meal. Between the noise of that machine(though I forgive it, as it expresses coffee for all of us) and the chair behind me that was back to back, and the table itself that was about the size of a postage stamp… things were a bit crowded from the get go. The food and beer were all fairly standard. —- STOP, STOP! I’m sorry GUYS! Three-star reviews are not the most thrilling to write. I’ll cut it off here as I’ve said all I’ve needed to say. It’s a pub by Camden Market that’ll serve you a beer and some grub, but it’s not really that special. It’s not great, it’s not horrible and Amy Winehouse used to hang out here. Get some jelly babies and hit the road to the next spot.

Fun crowd of people. Very sociable folks and servers. Nooks and outdoor seating upstairs, though cold, people still hang out there. Music was great and very danceable. It is hard to get a table. it seemed like it was standing room only so we didn’t order any food. Spilled a drink on a passerby. Thank you for being so nice. I’m still sorry. =)

This pub never ceases to be underwhelming. It’s by no means awful and the crowd isn’t, either. The layout of the place is awkward and it always feels like it’s hard to find a place to sit or stand, even when there are empty tables. It will be around forever, I reckon, and I don’t mind going there from time to time when visiting friends want some Amy Winehouse nostalgia, but I don’t go out of my way for it.

Saturday brought sun and that inspired a little pub crawl. A fine day of drinking started here because their sidewalk chalkboard said, «spring starts here» and I decided to go with it. In true English fashion, I put on my scarf, pulled up my gloves, and took my pint to a wooden table in the little«garden»(read: smoking section) out back. I angled my face towards the big fireball in the sky and tried to convince myself it was a sign of warmer days to come. There was some good people watching to be had. I’m used to the Shoreditch brand of hipster, so this allowed me to view a different variety. The biggest difference seems to be the amount of red lipstick. I swear the boy sitting to my right was a forest nymph and if I was further along the pub crawl I would have asked him to grant me a wish. To my left was a man in camouflage having a burger and talking to his friend about cars. A little something for everyone. Bonus: Dyson Air Blade hand dryers in the loo. It’s the little things.

Ein klassischer Pub in der Nähe von Camden Lock mit verschiedenen Biersorten und verschiedenem Bar Food. Alles in allem relativ gutes Essen und nettes Personal, nur die Einrichtung könnte mal erneuert werden.

Some of my favourite sweets are Haribo gummi bears. I am especially partial to the white ones and will pick them out of a package before eating the other colours. I’ve always found it a bit odd when British folks call my beloved bears«jelly babies.» Well, until I came to the Hawley Arms! It was in this Camden pub that I sampled my first jelly baby. And yes, they are indeed shaped like babies(does anyone else find noshing on baby-shaped candy super strange?) They don’t taste as nice as Haribo gummi bears, but that wouldn’t stop me from eating them again! The Hawley Arms didn’t wow me, nor did I feel particularly at home there but the drinks were decent and overall it’s a solid pub.

I apparently missed the memo that you either had to be a fireman or a train wreck to patronize this establishment, because although I’m reading through varied reviews, I must say, I was impressed with both of my visits to the Hawley Arms. I’ve spent two lazy Sunday afternoons enjoying the laid back atmosphere and the cozy décor; and the last word I would use to describe either of my experiences would be «pretentious.» But I am blonde … so I’ve been known to miss elephant sized ‘social cues’ from time to time. But I must say, after beautiful and polite waiters, delicious lamb roasts, and enough pies to complete an entire chart, I’m beginning to think that perhaps the hype went down in flames?
