I visited the Ivory Lounge with a friend in the early evening on a Friday. It was already very busy and rather noisy but with a friendly vibe. Our waitress was very helpful and friendly and didn’t mind warming up our coffees which were not as hot as we like. We chose one of the ‘deals’ a bottle of wine and a seafood platter for £15. We were impressed when it arrived a nicely presented wooden platter of 2 kinds of prawns, one hot with noodles, the other a prawn cocktail, a generous portion of smoked salmon, 2 types of bread, calamari(rather a lot of batter!) etc. All in all, nice venue and good value.

After reading another review i decided to book here for my birthday. To start with the staff were helpful and on the day we had a nice big cornered off area. We were very dissapointed we had no waiterss service, staff were more concerned with having a chat or attending to the male groups. Depending on who served you at the bar you could get the same bottle of wine at various prices ranging from £9.50 to £12! Despite this we had a good time and the ambience and various seating areas were great. Upon a return visit the issue of the female staff only wishing to serve men arose again. After being told even though i arrived at the bar at the same time as my friends who the lady had just finished serving i was not next to be served! The group of men beside me were apparently next! SO decided to chance waitress service at the table instead of waiting another 30mins at bar… big mistake! Eventhough we managed to order a drink straight away it had not arrived after 25 min, So decided to chance the bar again. When at the bar the waitress said she hadn’t had a chance to make the drinks but would do it now. Eventually about an hour later i eventually got a drink!!! This is a great place if your a male and dont mind waiting for drinks!

Went here once with my boyfriend on a saturday afternoon. It was empty, probably about 2 other tables of people. After waiting almost 30 mins, we left as nobody would come and take our order, so off we went to KFC as we were starving! I went again with some lady friends, this time on a busy Friday night. They oredered a fondu selection. Almost an hour had passed and still no sign of it. Eventually after reminding staff a number of times it arrived and was very disappointing, something just thrown together! Good ambiance though and they do nice cocktails.

Admittedly, a Tuesday night after a Bank Holiday weekend is not going to be the best time to get a true sense of the place, but despite being pretty vacant at the time, it looks like this place has got the potential to be a very nice bar. A touch of class reminiscent of expensive city bars, it does seem a bit out of place in the Bromley I think of. But, I’m not complaining, and will definitely be returning on a weekend evening to check this place out properly, particularly the tasty looking and very reaonable priced tapas selection; 7 plates for £21! It’s a big ‘olé shiny brazzerie type bar with plenty of seating options depending on the size of your group. If it had a proper garden terrace, I’d be tempted to give a maximum, but as it goes there are about five or six picnic benches out the front instead. Looking forward to further investigation!
