We really liked our dinner at the Jugged Hare. Had the Jugged Hare pie, which was really good, with just the right amount of seasoning. I only added the smallest amount of salt and pepper, which I preferred to having something be overly seasoned. My friend’s first time having a pie with hare/rabbit in it. He was definitely happy! The Cornish Gold Cider on tap was super tasty with the pie too. Eating in the mezzanine was great because we could see out over the bar and just enjoy the atmosphere. If it hadn’t been so cold, we’d definitely have gone outside to check out the beer garden. We loved staying in Pimlico and this was definitely one of our top spots in the neighborhood.

I eat here every time I visit London. It’s a perfect place to eat before going to see Wicked at the Apollo Victoria Theatre due to it’s proximity. My favorite place in London for traditional British food. Their pies are the best that I’ve had anywhere.

Visited from Philadelphia(USA) Food arrived quickly and was great. Place was clean. Good atmosphere. Spacious bar area for ordering a drink. Sat upstairs I’m mezzanine area which was nice. Did not go out but they had signs in restaurant directing customers to a beer garden area. No complaints.

We went for some fish and chips and some drinks there before we went on the train. food: fish and chips were very good. service: nice and professional service. very easy to talk to. ambience: a very cool location. they have cool and comfortable chairs and a high ceiling. the only negative point is that because of that it is more likely go be cold.

Great london pub. Here from the US and wanted fish and chips and a pint. Food excellent, staff friendly, atmosphere perfect. Exactly what we were looking for. Highly recommend. Easy walk from our hotel on Islip street.

A jugged hare is not in fact a hare in a jug.

Great pies! Rather good selection of local beer. Slow but pleasant service. I loved the atmosphere. This is a good place to «people watch» and they even had Tobasco sauce!

So many memories here! My flat mates and I frequented this place when we studied abroad in London, and our flat was a ~15 minute walk away. Some of the bartenders even began recognizing us and our typical spot upstairs! A warm, homey atmosphere and overall solid food with a great choice of drinks! A couple of the bartenders are also quite attractive, and one of the older ladies is quite kind and receptive. Major plus is that there’s free wi-fi so a couple of times we did our school work here. However, the last time I was here, there was a rat on the upper floor and the bartender hilariously chased it around. I guess that’s to be expected at a pub though. I really do miss this place!

I think the Jugged Hare is one of the best pubs in Victoria. It’s got a good range of beer, with all the usual Fullers ales plus some guest varieties. It’s also got plenty of space, both upstairs and down, which means it doesn’t get too crowded, and the food is reasonable. I’ve come here plenty of times with colleagues and have yet to be disappointed.

(+) nice location of an old bank from 1900 with a private brewery inside (-) prices for the food are too high compared to the quality you receive = very good after work

One of the most dependable pubs I’ve ever come across. The beer(be it Chiswick, Prise, ESB, Discovery or a guest) is always in excellent condition. The surroundings are imposing, and the food is fin(especially their sandwiches — the smoked haddock with horseradish was very god indeed). Far enough away from places like the Tate Gallery, but can get very busy early evening, and on Thursday and Fridays it can sometimes be hard to find a seat, but evntualy one becomes available.

This pub might have done better if it wasn’t for the moody waitress who was obviously furious at our rearranging of the tables in order that a decent sized group could sit together. I know it’s probably annoying as you know that you have to move them back again later but we are paying customers and we want to sit together, if it annoys you then unless we are actually blocking people getting past then you hide it! I wanted to like this pub, particularly after an earlier visit which I enjoyed. I meanit serves an excellent selection of ales in both dispensed and bottled format and it looks good too but on this occasion made the mistake of ordering food here. When you pay around 10 pounds for a fairly common main course like Fish and Chips or a burger then you expect something above average. If anything the food was below average. I could see myself coming backbut in a smaller group, having already eaten elsewhere. It’s fine for drinks The name has something to do with a process of stewing meat(in this case the meat from a hare of course).

I’m growing more keen on relaxed pubs than I am on uncomfortable trendy bars. The Jugged Hare is a good place to go to for a quiet drink away from the rest of the world. I’ve been here quite a few times and I’ve never ever seen it busy — which is absolutely perfect. There’s always a table available, always a relaxed atmosphere, never a wait to be served and always space to just kick back and enjoy a chat without being interrupted. The décor is quite cosy — dark reds and lots of wood — though a tiny tiny bit on the old fashioned side. Though this is probably what gives it its charm and laid back feel. I’ve only eaten in here once and the food was ok. This is for people who want to take time out, sit back, relax and enjoy a slow drink and chat.

An awesome building, Banks make great places for converting into pubs and restaurants. This one works well, the main bar is on the ground floor, plenty of seating. There is a eating area in the back and an upstairs gallery(more seating with tables). As mentioned, they serve Fullers Ales — And especially, my favourite London Porter a fantastic blend of 3 ales, smooth and creamy, its a delight to drink, and 5.4% ABV(so, take care!). The place was busy with both(end of day) office types and locals, alike. The floor staff were polite, serving food and keeping the place clean of glasses. The bar staff were better, they obviously knew their product and were helpful and polite. The food is pies, fish, steaks and burgers, it looked OK. Well presented, served piping hot and smelt inviting. The very clean toilets are in the basement and there are steps up into the bar, so its not at all wheelchair friendly. One or two obvious under-age drinkers in the bar, hidden upstairs, with the biggest, most mature of them going to the bar, buying the drinks! Worth a visit or two.

Just up the road from Victoria station is this very good Fuller’s Ale and Pie house. It’s a regular meeting point for friends of mine trying to escape the madness of Victoria at rush-hour! Housed behind an impressive façade(formerly a bank — what else?), the décor is traditional and cosy panelled dark wood, and there’s an uspstairs gallery area as well. You can usually get a seat in the evenings — rare so close to Victoria station. They serve the full range of Fuller’s real ales(ESB, London Pride, Discovery and Chiswick). The beers are very well kept — this pub won Fuller’s own ‘Cellarman of the Year’ award in 2006, and it also features in the Good Beer Guide. They do a good range of traditional pub grub at lunch-times and in the evenings, including sandwiches and, of course, pies. The signature dish here is — as the pub name might suggest — hare pie. It gets rave reviews from those who like that sort of thing!!!
