Typical Weatherspoons. Decent food for a decent price with an interesting interior décor. No culinary highlight, but filling, tasty comfort food. Loved the walls decorated with fake old timey looking booj shelves!

It’s a Wetherspoons. So the food and drink is cheap and cheerful and generally acceptable. No complaints. As with a lot of Wetherspoons, this one is in a lovely old building(the bookshelfs and coats of arms on the staircase are a nice touch) and at a lovely location by the Tower of London. What stood out for me on this visit was the service. They messed up my food order — I ordered chicken and received beef. They remade it with no fuss and also provided a starter of halloumi on the house to apologise. Not needed and unexpected, but gratefully received!

Great food, great prices. I had chicken skewers, husband had beef pie. Both were excellent. Sat in cute corner booth for 2 by fireplace and had a lovely evening after touristing. Only gave 4 stars because they delivered our food to a table that was not wiped off.

Came here on our way to the Tower of London. The atmosphere seems fun and local, and the place looks very historic and spacey. We ordered: 1. Thai chicken curry — fine. A little too sweet and lacking in kick. 2. Beef ale pie — good! The crust was very flaky and the stew inside extremely flavorful. 3. Fish and chips — average, nothing to write home about. 4. Warm chocolate cake — actually very good and chocolate-y, served with vanilla ice cream. However, the service was very slow. They don’t have anyone checking on tables as you order at the bar, so I think things slip through the cracks. We asked for our dessert three times, and the third time I finally stood there at the bar until they brought it out(I suspect they made it on the spot) very shortly after.

Definitely a local’s pub. We hit it on a Friday at lunch time and it was crazy busy. We found the last table available. This turned out to be a good choice for a great lunch after our ride in the Eye. Good food and service. Order at the bar and they deliver it to your table. Check it out, I think you will like it!

Good food, great atmosphere. Friendly staff at good prices. I had the fish and chips with mushy peas and a pop. Spouse had the steak Doomba pie with mash and a pint Everything for £20.78. Recommended by local and he was so right. Note for those not from around here you order and pay at the bar food is brought to you.

Spoons not included I called here after work with a pal. The atmosphere is Weatherspoons, there is no music, just lots of people chatting. This was a sober reality for me as usually there are an abundance of people simply staring around. The atmosphere aside we ordered food — for those who aren’t in the know you need to remember your table number before heading to the bar! Take note. The server got my order wrong and despite ordering a pint of Pepsi and a pint of Heineken she thought my order consisted of a starter and a main. Stupidly I missed the cue when she asked do you want both at the same time. I didn’t make a point of saying they are both mains as they also do chicken dippers as a starter. I was really impressed with the service her the manager immediately apologised for the confusion as provided the sides of the main complimentary, this was a very kind gesture. With Weatherspoons you can’t ever complain about the price of drink. Even in London the drink is cheap as… 1 pint of Coors light is £3.60. It’s for nothing! Check it out…

Another great Wetherspoons pub. I’m really impressed with the way that they’ve improved their pubs over the last few years. I’m especially happy with their vastly improved beer selection. And that is the thing that keeps me coming back. The food is much improved too. All they have to do next is improve the clientele!

I popped in here when I saw the sign out the front advertising a curry and a beer for 7 quid. Can’t go wrong there, I thought. I wasn’t disappointed. A full pint of beer with a curry and all the accoutrements. Naan, popadom, chutney. It’s all there. It was a good tasty curry too, lamb madras for me. Nice cosy atmosphere, and typical British pub faire. Worth checking out.

My favourite Wetherspoons in London(that I’ve been to) if only for the magnificent view of the Tower from the windows. Free WiFi and cheap food/drink keep me coming back and the place always seems to be busy! My only complaint would be the area towards the back as you head towards the stairs is a little bit overcrowded with tables making moving around a bit of a challenge.

Ok mood. Nice and quiet if you want to sit down and have a chat. The food is far from grate but well priced for those who want to save. The service was fast and good. Not really the place for me but can see it appealing to others…

The bar is nice, but the food we got on Curry Night wad really bad. We asked for the spiciest dish they had and they were out of it when we got there. To make what they had more spicy they added Tobasco sauce to our Jalfrezi. I really can’t imagine anything worst than putting a chili sauce from Louisiana on an Indian dish. When I told them it still was not spicy enough they offered me more Tobasco. Yikes!!! If you just want a pint, then this is a good place. Avoid the Curry Night food.

Went here on a Sunday night with two friends after going on the Jack the Ripper Tour round the area. We were cold and wet and dying for a glass of wine. I ended up ordering a large pork Sunday roast, which came to just £9.89 including a large glass of house red — bargain! The roast was not very good, though to be fair just what I expected from a Whetherspoons. The roast potatoes and yorkshire pudding were definitely frozen — they looked just like Aunt Bessies, and the gravy was thin and cold, and the apple sauce that came with the pork was tinned, and the pork was chewy, and the peas tasted and looked old, and the broccoli was even frozen. Also my food took FOREVER to come, and when it finally did they brought me a beef roast. When I protested and said I’d ordered pork, the waiter asked to see my receipt! I hadn’t taken a receipt, but beyond that that’s just rude. Finally they brought me the pork roast, but by the time it came out my two friends had finished eating their food already! The loos here were also quite dirty. It also would have been nice had there been a big fire in the fireplace.

This place looks very nice but the service is awful. Bartender rang in my food wrong and when a sandwich came out instead of a salad they asked for more money to get my salad. It took forever to order also. They then have me my extra money back. The, I’m guessing manager, was very rude as well when my friend asked for a drink they don’t have. Don’t think I would come back.

Nice Weatherspoon pub. Two floors with bar and tables aplenty. Good service. Nice food and coffee. The fish and chips here is always great and consistently good. It’s a safe option pub with typical Weatherspoon prices — Good value for money! The décor is fantastic — themed like an old library. Real ales and good pub grub — this pub always seems to be vibrant and busy. Worth a visit.

There’s really nothing all that wrong with the place. Nothing that’ll blow you away either but if you want a round of reasonably priced drinks in the middle of tourist trap London, this is the place to go. The staff are efficient, they’re not trying to be your best pal they just want to get you fed and watered; it’s all politeness and efficiency I’ll agree with another reviewer who said it was about half tourists and half locals, I have been on both sides of this divide and both sides it was an inoffensive experience. The food is decent, it’s not amazing but if you’re paying £6 for a beer and a burger, it’s not reasonable to expect something that’ll change your life. I LIKE the fact that it’s a wetherspoons and the influx of microbrew swilling, brioche-bun-burger munching muppet-haired hipsters are above this sort of banality. It means that it’s full of normals who don’t want to pay seven pounds for a pint and just want somewhere relaxed to enjoy a couple of drinks and a bite to eat.

I don’t know exactly why, I just plain like this place. It’s a chain pub in one of the most touristy neighborhoods in all of London, but every time I’m in town I stop in at least once. They’re known for their great curry deals, and the standard menu is good, too. I really like the pot pie. Lots of nice English beers on draught, and good tea and hot drinks, too. In spite of the fact that it’s half tourists, the other half actually is pretty legit. Tons of space inside, with three different levels to spread out. It’s just the right mix of bright and dim, just the right mix of local and tourist… Something about it just rubs me the right way. Right across from the Tower Hill tube station, and just up the hill from the Tower itself. I’ve been a fan for years.

Another Wetherspoon pub. I liked it, though. After enjoying the Jack the Ripper tour, I worked up an appetite. They did have a great deal here — £6 for an entrée and a drink. Cider and Chicken Vindaloo please, HOT! The naan was chewy, the chipati was crunchy. The rice was tasty, and the chicken was SPICYHOTMASALA! In the US places say that stuff is «*****» hot, but it’s really only«*». THIS was five stars hot, like I LIKE it! HOT! I almost said it wasn’t the best Vindaloo I’ve ever had, but hey — I was in London, so it was definitely in the top five Vindaloos!

Just an average Wetherspoon-chain pub. It’s got a few good things going for it, but it just wasn’t quite clicking with me for whatever reason. it was quite relaxed, comfortable, with free wi-fi(need to sign in via The Cloud). It’s right across the street from the Tower Hill tube station and the Tower of London.
