Big fan. However, someone needs to inform the chef that they offer burgers cooked at whatever temperature you want and ask him to stop cranking out pieces of charcoal stuffed inside a bun. I mean, the menu literally says«we cook hamburgers well-done unless otherwise requested, in which case you are responsible.» Fine, I’m responsible… now give me the medium-rare burger that I ordered and watch me not die from mad cow.

Came here for brunch after a yoga class. Ordered a coffee as soon as we sat down but didn’t get it for at least 20 minutes. Food came out pretty quick and was very nice. Service exceptionally slow! We tried to call for our bill for around 15 mins. Finally it came and as I sit here its been nearly 10 minutes waiting just for our change.

Putney Canteen looks the goods, but my experience was unfortunately pretty average. I was looking forward to a proper café breakfast, avocado, poached eggs, sourdough toast… And since it was a rainy miserable day I wanted a hot drink. Straight off the bat, they don’t do chai, which is OK I guess, but always a bit of a disappointment to me. So I opted for hot chocolate. My breakfast itself was half my fault, and half the food’s. I ordered smashed avocado on sourdough toast, but I somehow missed the part of the description that said, «smothered in hollandaise», so when it arrived that way I was pretty bummed. But, as I said, my fault for misreading the menu. The avocado wasn’t smashed, but diced and layered on the toast, which is just weird! It is neither easier to dice, or better to eat that way. The crumbled feta was actually four huge chunks hidden under all the hollandaise. The eggs were poached perfectly and the sourdough toast was good. So I would probably give this place another go — and read the menu a little more carefully next time — BUTREALLY, who puts hollandaise on smashed avocado toast?

We have been regular visitors to Putney Canteen since it opened and have only once been disappointed — when they ran out of «unlimited» Yorkshire puddings on a very busy Sunday Lunchtime! Food excellent, very good value and it is a great addition to Putney! Unreservedly recommended!

Went here for dinner on a Tuesday. They run a half price wine special which is good for any wine on the menu. Worth it for that alone. Food was quite good. Split a chicken and chorizo pie and a burger with my wife. Both were excellent. Service was good. Sat outside on a nice night. Can’t ask for much more than that.

30÷6÷13 — My friend recommended we tryout this new restaurant so we came for lunch. I had a butternut squash salad complete with a rusty screw in the salad!!! We complained and got a 25% discount but I really don’t feel that was good enough hence this review.
