The Queen’s Gate Hotel

This place is okay.
As with most European hotels, the rooms were small. But this seemed smaller than expected. The shower head positioner was not working properly and so we had to duck down to take showers. A personal pet peeve of mine is 2 – 1 shampoo and body wash, which was the only option for either hair or body (bring your own if you’re the same). There was no outlet near any mirrors (bathroom or bedroom) so doing your hair (curling/​straightening/​etc) beyond blow drying using the one already fixed to the wall is incredibly difficult. For a hotel that claims 4 stars it wasn’t as expected.
We did get room service and had fish and chips. Needed to be done! These were actually quote good and gives me hope for their restaurant/​food service. The continental breakfast was very dull so we opted out.
Service was sub-​par, with relatively nice staff that had absolutely zero desire to go above and beyond in any way whatsoever. Most notably was the house keeping staff who told us she needed to leave so she wanted us to leave ASAP so she could clean our room. I do have to notice one exception to this point, where one of one of the late night staff members poured us a beer after-​hours, which was admittedly great, and has saved them some stars.
To it’s credit it was clean and in a great neighborhood. So for that reason I’ve given it 2 stars. Again I wouldn’t recommend though.

Very nicely appointed room, big comfortable bed, nice modern bathroom although a bit plasticky; plenty of toiletries, big TV with lots of channels.
Room service looks nice and prices pretty good for a hotel.
Cons:
My room was nice but faced onto Queens Gate, which was noisy
The floors are wooden, and the person in the room next door must have been dancing in stillettos at 4am next door, so not a great nights sleep
First night I tried to order room service, but no-​one answered the phone after three times of trying so I gave up.
No restaurant in the evening.

It’s a spanish chain, with spanish staff and seemingly exclusive spanish guests too. Not that it was an issue and quite common now in metropolitan London.
In fairness I would give this hotel 3.5 out of 5 or 7 out of 10 but its not an option on Qype! But not worth 4 stars because of the road noise and the stilettos next door.
