I ate at The Rose in London, England on the 9th of June 2015(6÷9÷2015). It was my 1st time there. I had their fish & chips. Good food & good service. Plus, I took photos.

Been here 2 times for dinner since I arrived in london 4 days ago. It’s the only restaurant close to Park plaza with reasonable price. The Chino Latino at the hotel is pretty expensive. I had the fish n chips obviously. Fish was flaky inside n crunchy outside. Huge piece of fish bigger than my hand. Batter was thick but the fish is also big. Side of peas were sweet n the chips very crunchy. My husband had the Shepard pie with side of grilled veggies. He loved it. Portion is also big. I had a little bit and it was very tasty. N we also had the mussels to start. It’s on coconut broth. It was sweet n savory. The second time we had the mussels again but it was on the salty side. We shared a steak baguette and it was very good too. Three stars for inconsistent taste mussels and most importantky. The service it very slow both times we were there. It took a while for them to take our order. We flagged them but couldn’t seem to notice us. When it was time to pay… it was the same thing. Food good. Service needs improvememt.

My friend brought me here as I was meeting her in her lunch break in Vauxhall and I have to say it was lovely. Right by the river(although it was rainy so the view wasn’t that great. The service was quick and friendly and the food was great. I ordered the chef special, smoked chicken salad with some garlic bread and my friend got the steak baguette. The salad was fresh and they used a variety of different leaves which was great, they also put in sundries tomatoes and avocado which was a great mix. My friends sandwich was tender and delicious. I enjoyed my food but had food envy at the same time. The only annoying thing is I wanted to pay for my friends lunch but the card reader was playing up and wouldn’t read my card so my friend had to pay the whole bill — fail on my part! Would definitively recommend this place if you are in the area.

There are many redeeming features for the Rose, including good setting and nice interior. The Halloumi skewers were tasty. But serve me raw chicken, and I mean pink and no where near cooked, and you lose any favour. Change the chef, stat.

great pub super close to Park Plaza hotel. We loved the atmosphere(definitely an authentic London pub feel) and thoroughly enjoyed our meals(I ordered chicken burger — delicious) and the fries were awesome. Definitely glad we chose to eat here for dinner!

Me costaba oír mis pensamientos. Segundo la iluminación. Tan tenue que costaba leer un libro que llevaba(nefecto, cena de a uno). En fin, si estás cerca… Pero si no, pasando.

Lovely pub a short walk from Vauxhall tube. I was fortunate to come on a beautiful blueskied day, which I was able to enjoy trhough all the windows in the pub — lots of light, always a winner. It was mid-week lunch time and very quiet. It had a very leisurely, relaxing vibe. Smooth, tasteful décor. Grey walls and wood furnishings. The service was pleasing and efficient. The food was great! Good value for money for its standard. I had the fish and chips. Lovely batter, just the way I like it. The only disappointment was the peas. A very unappealing little pot of what looked like frozen peas.

Great little British pub. We stopped in for dinner, they sat us right away. Great mojito drink menu. I ordered the pumpkin soup, was delish! I scraped the large bowl clean. For dinner my husband had the fish and chips, which was also very good, and I had a salad, which was good at well. Nice homey atmosphere.

I’ve been to The Rose for Sunday lunch before and had the veggie roast and it was amazing — a little pricey but given its Vauxhall not too bad. I am very disappointed today though. I was shocked that they added service to my bill automatically even though I had gone to the bar to order my food. I ordered from the sharing menu and the breaded Brie and calamari were good but the mini fish balls were mostly potato, bland and boring. The potato wedges came out late, over cooked and were cheap out the bag frozen ones — not the homemade hand cut ones you usually get in gastro-pubs that charge as much. I think the main issue was the poor service though — which given I was charged for it was below par. If I come back I’m sticking to the roast and staying downstairs.

Came here on a trip to London and was looking for something near the hotel that had good food and drinks that were not overly expensive. I found The Rose through Google Maps and read the reviews and perused the menu. I was pleasantly surprised that it had all the charm I had imagined. Wasn’t too hungry but I HAD to try a couple things on the menu. I ordered the oysters and Salt & Pepper Squid and they were delicious. The oysters tasted fresh and had a simple mignonette that complimented the flavor. The Salt & Pepper Squid was not as good as the oysters, but still very good. I loved the Rose & Elderflower Collins I ordered. The bartender actually plucked an orchid petal off of a huge flower arrangement in the restaurant/bar and placed it in my drink as a garnish… so charming! It was a Tuesday night in mid April and wasn’t too crowded, perfect for me! However I could see this place being a popular place for the after work crowd, especially on a Friday night.

I like this place. A lot. In a neighborhood where there aren’t a whole lot of standard options, you can’t beat it. It’s always bustling but(so far) not nightmarishly crowded and the drink selection is decent. Prices aren’t bad and it feels cozy as soon as you walk in the door. The bar staff is lovely and welcoming. I haven’t had the food, but scoping some other table’s spoils was encouraging. If you’re in the area, need a place to meet, or just are looking for a pub in this area, stop in!

Gave it my all in my comment. Fast, friendly, delicious and wallet-pleasing alternative to pricey Chino Latino at the Park Plaza. If you’re in the ‘hood, this will please most pub goers.

Located across the road from one of the biggest night clubs in Vauxhall(Hidden), perfect for a pre-rave drink with great music and friendly staff. The roast dinners that are served on a Sunday are absolutely gorgeous and it’s definitely the best in the area if you don’t wanna be slaving over a hot stove all day.

The Rose is the standard place that our office goes for after-work drinks. It is popular, got a nice atmosphere and an extensive drinks and cocktails menu. Likewise I’ve only eaten here on work do’s — which has been a bit mixed, especially for our Christmas dinner. Having said that, they must have been absolutely swamped. They are currently in the process of a refurb — think its complete for the Jubilee Weekend — so haven’t been in a while. Looking forward to seeing what they did!

While we were in London we eat here three times. It is a great, out-of-the-way pub with just locals. But — more importantly — they have the best Fish-n-Chip in all of Great Britain(IMHO). I also discovered Doom Bar cask beer here. As we traveled around GB for three weeks I kept having the local Fish-n-Chips. After a week and a half of seaching for a better Fish-n-Chips, I gave up. On our return to London near the end of our trip we headed right back and it was just as good as the first time. Or yes — we did try some of they other fare. All well also great. If you are going to London — you must go here. And if you live in London, you have a great pub!

I can’t speak for this pub on a normal, average, evening — we were lucky to be here and have it all to ourselves for a friend’s wedding on a Saturday night. Just on the river, with lovely views of Westminster and the river — it was a fantastic spot for the post wedding knees up. Downstairs is large with lots of tables and the oblong bar is in the middle of the room. I was a fan of the décor — very tastfully done. Wide sweeping stairs lead you upstairs to another large room with a smaller bar. Great views of the river from here. It’s off the beaten path — situated 5 minutes walk from Vauxhall station. If you’re in the area, be sure to drop by.

A. If you are walking along the river thames and find yourself near nothing and semi-lost, you will find this place B. Good cask ale selection C. Bartenders all had different distinct accents from each other, none were british D. Foie gras was awesome, steak sandwich was good as well E. Price was not over-the-top F. Cool décor, totally lounge-y and they have an upstairs area I’d hit again but I doubt I’d be lost in this area again.
