The Royal Bank of Scotland

I have been with this particular branch of RBS for well over 20 years and it never ceases to amaze me how incompetent they are — particularly when you do anything other than in person.
I recently asked for a wire transfer to be sent and being a traditional bank this has to be done in writing, fair enough.
What takes the cake is that they received the letter tried to call me at home (where even though I reside does not mean that I am on phone watch ²⁴⁄₇ waiting for RBS to call me.) and did not get a hold of me.
Not being able reach me they decided to toss the letter in the garbage — WTF???
Really you do not have a signature card that you can compare the signature to? How incompetent are these people? So not being able to reach me they concluded the letter I sent was a hoax and decided not to act on it.
Meanwhile I am at home wondering where my wire is.
So now three weeks later I am still waiting — having to send them another letter since some genius decided to trash it. I guess RBS does not invest in filing cabinets nor scanners.
Meanwhile the Dollar has risen and I am out $ 300 on the exchange rate compared to three weeks ago — that’s why I wanted it then — because the exchange rate was good.
Being bankers RBS should be familiar with the concept of exchange rate and the importance of timing it right.
It goes without saying that RBS will not compensate me for the $ 300 lost in the exchange — they do not assume responsability for anything.
