Nice enough place, the garden/car park catches the sun, so will probably get crowded at times. The one thing I noticed was that this is a Greene King pub, but there isn’t any real ale on sale, not even their own ales, I don’t remember seeing any hand pumps at all.

I refused to visit this pub for many a year. I am not sure why? I cannot remember what I was told. I write that because when I have visited of late I have really begun to like this quiet, suburban, locals pub. They sell real ale, Guinness, lager, wines and spirits here. A pint is £3 for a Kronenbroug and service often comes with a smile. I have not had the pleasure of seeing this pub busy and I have visited during day and night. Its clientlele are British, which it is worth pointing out is in contract to the Tup and GJs o the same road who have a real mixture including a lot of South Africans and eastern europeans who have moved to the area of late. I get the feeling the Royal Standard might not be around in a few years time if people continue to neglect it. It is a shame because I have just realised that I would mourn its passing.
