For those of you hitting the January detox I would 100% recommend this place. Perfectly located between Old Street and Barbican, you can grab a healthy and delicious salad that’s filling and full of flavour! They change their menu daily and offer a great selection of extras for a £1 including freshly cooked chicken and halloumi! Today’s salad specials were a vine tomato, red onion, parsley mixed bean and feta salad, house slaw with freshly made mayo, spiced aubergine with bulgar wheat. Served with fresh lead salad and extra chicken. Each salad had its own unique taste and all complemented each other perfectly! I was in salad heaven! My favourite by far was the mixed bean — the parsley beans really stood out and amongst the flavours and I couldn’t get enough. Definitely going to be a regular for me!

Though I live at the Barbican, I had always walked straight past this place, dismissing it as just another boring old local café. I was pretty naïve. After seeing reviews of the Salad Kitchen on Unilocal,I headed back on a sunny day to check out the offerings. There are four daily salads, plus optional hallumi or chicken to put on top. On the day I went there were autumnal vegetables, dressed black beans, couscous and a purple coleslaw. This was topped with green leaves like rocket, hallumi and drizzled with a tahini dressing. There is a variety of dressings to choose from, including honey mustard, pesto and balsamic vinaigrette. For the large portion size it cost £5.95 with the hallumi. I ate this in the nearby park on what was probably one of the last days of summer. It was fresh, more filling than one would expect for salad and very tasty. The price wasn’t too bad given the quality of the ingredients. I would come back here to try more.

Simply put, the Salad Kitchen is the bee’s knees.(tl:dr, THISPLACEISAMAZING). AMAZING I tell you! VALUE&HEALTH. FULLSTOP. £5.50 for a large box of mixed salads, fresh green mix, pulled chicken(or other protein) and choice of dressing, of which they make all in house and they are DELICIOUS. My favorite is the tahini and honey, but honestly they all look legit. Try yourself some. There are a few small tables to enjoy in, but honestly it’s more of a grab and go type of place. They’ve got the system on lock so it moves quickly, don’t let a que fool ya. It’s worth the short wait. These Salad Guys know what’s up. Fresh. Flavorful. Packed with good stuff. Friendly. What is not to love, honestly? If you need a great salad that will keep you full for the rest of the day, this is your spot. If you can make a salad sexy, you get top marks from me, and these guys do exactly that. *accepts cards. *closed weekends.

BESTPLACEEVER! The Salad Kitchen @SaladKitchen126. You get a Crunchbox full of a variety of different salads which changes all the time topped with either Chicken or Halloumi and some home made croutons! Sound good? Then a choice of home made dressings… honey and mustard is amazing, but they all sound pretty delicious! The portions are huge and so filling and the location is so convenient! I think a small(still pretty packed) is £3.90 and a large is £4.50. The guys who serve are very friendly and informative too so its just a great place all round really. If you are in the area you’d be a fool not to pop in! They also are have a pretty amazing Instagram. x
