One of my favourite pubs. Lovely interior and exterior, but has a good beer selection. Some of my fav german ones too. And a lovely vibe about it. Mainly locals but it also has comedy and music sometimes too. A real gem for the area.

Best local you could wish for. Great booze. Couple of cosy booths. Jolly staff. You bump into interesting sorts. And dipped my toe in their pub menu and was suitably impressed. People who like that game where people kick a ball back and forth will also probably be fans of this place.

We ordered two pints of lime soda here as we were both thirsty and needed something non alcoholic and refreshing before getting a proper drink. We handed over a tenner before he told us how much. He gave us £3.50 change. I’ve never paid more than £1.50 for a pint of lime soda even in the centre of London so this was a surprise and we thought he must have given us change thinking we’d given a fiver. We called him back and to my horror(I’m actually still reeling from this but yes I am a cheapskate!) he said it was correct because it’s £3.25 each. For lime soda. Not cool. We didn’t stop for our alcoholic drink although I think they are much more normal London prices. The pub is a beautiful old hotel with much of it’s charm intact but a little worn and tired in places. According to the blackboard, they have pub quizzes on a Monday and live jazz every other Sunday. I’d like to go back to see this place to try one of these. I just won’t be ordering a lime soda!

I went to The Salisbury in Green Lanes N4 last Saturday and had a great time. The place was very inviting. It had a varied selection of beers and the food was excellent. The staff were very friendly and gave really good service. If you want a nice place to have dinner and a good night out then this pub is for you.

Came here for a swing night, so they sectioned off almost half of the pub for the ticketed event. This place is still huge though and there was plenty of space for everyone else. Beautiful old décor and high ceilings with plenty of seating to lounge in. Lovely big pub.

While living in North London(long time ago) the Salisbury was one of these pubs that were always good for a relaxed meet up. I recently went again as I was in the area. We had a some of the Sunday roast while having a good catch up. They only start serving at 1pm, but … ohh … it was great. We both had the vegetarian option which came with nicely roasted veg, gravy, Yorkshire pudding and the veggie roast was a nice mushroom/nuts/cauliflower mixture in a fluffy pastry. After that we moved away from the table to a super confi sofa near a real fireplace. The place was busy with loads of young families and their friends. Very relaxing, but still busy atmosphere.

I love walking into the saloon here. There is a aura of pastimes’ grandeur captivated in this magnificently restored turn of the(previous) century pub. Some great live music and dj sets grace the back room regularly. Fantastic selection of beer and ale at the bar. This reputable North London pub really should attract those all across the capital to the middle of Green Lanes. Superb.

I’ve always known this pub to be rough and tumble, full of whinos and troublemakers. It seems it has been cleaned up and is in fact my new favourite pub in London. Built in 1899 it is a Grade II listed building and has been part of Harringay’s subculture for as long as I can remember. I thought I’d check it out during the World Cup and I have been impressed with the beers and the atmosphere. My fav brew here is Palm which carries a special promo — buy 4 beers you get 1 free. That’s the fastest way to my heart — free beer and belgium beer to boot: D Small selection of Belgian and German beers plus some Czech lagers on tap. Overall very surprised by the quality of beer. Theres also Guiness and some ciders. Food looks good but does seem overpriced though Seems to be a local crowd though how local they really are I couldn’t say. Its a nice mix of cultures like Surrey, Sussex, and Herts lol!!! I have seen some Dutch, Germans, Spanish and a few Yanks here during the football. All this and only a 5 min walk home, sweet!

A great local with a superb Victorian interior and exterior. Good atmosphere, music and other events often going on in the back room.

Great old decadent pub in the heart of green lanes. Beautiful décor and great selection of beers. You can also book the lounge room for parties which has it’s own stain glass dome.

Really fantastic old pub with huge amounts of atmosphere, great beer and space! The first time I popped in here for a beer I must have spent a good 10 minutes just exploring its cavernous interior! Some gorgeous old features here, and a really friendly atmosphere. Good selection of drinks too, and the jukebox belts out hit after hit. I will be back :)

Not actually a Fullers pub, although you could be fooled into thinking it was one by the beer range, 4 Fullers beers and a guest. Even the lagers are vaguely interesting with a couple of offerings from Litovel. The beer was good and the staff were exceptionally friendly(they gave new drinks to a couple who had left their drinks unattended and had had them cleared up. I also was amused to hear them fielding an enquiry as to whether a shot of vodka in a pint of Discovery would be ‘noticeable’). This is a very grand pub with a few different rooms, so not the best choice if you are looking for cosy. There seemed to some kind of ballroom dancing going on in one of the rooms. They serve food here too. The only real drawback here is the price, with beer prices pushing the 3 and a half pound mark.

How has noone written a review of this fantastic local yet? A huge sprawling pub with a central bar, fireplaces, booths, cosy chairs, battered sofas, mismatched furniture, and a huge selection of random drinks. They even sell my beloved Fruli(strawberry split in beer form). It is incredibly popular — and hence, slightly over-priced in my eyes(my roast was sub-par for £11, and we are in N4) — but really, it’s just a lovely place to while away an evening or even a full afternoon. Bring a board game, nab a seat by the fire, start a tab and say goodbye to your Sunday.

Beautiful place with a few decent beers and a lovely atmosphere only slightly tarnished by a couple of unscrupulous fellows here and there. But it’s friendly by and large, and yes, it is large indeed. There’s a little bit of a mismatch here for me though — as if the place is having an identity crisis. Am I an old man pub? Do I try to exist in my same glories as I once did, or does my jukebox make me the new preserve of the norf London rockers? Am I British or European? Is that a ‘disco’ in my back room? Is that a sunday roast I smell? Despite this, all the elements do add up to making a rather super pub — loads of space, beautiful original features, fires in winter and a decent quiz on a Monday.

After a particularly heavy day which saw me leaving the office at 9pm, a stiff drink and something comforting to eat were most definitely in order. A trip to the Salisbury on Green Lanes sorted me out a treat. First things first: a glass of the delicious house red to perk me up while I waited for a soup of the day with pide(Turkish bread) and humous on the side. My carrot and thyme soup arrived in a timely manner — not so quickly that it felt that it was microwaved upon order, not so slowly that I was desperately eyeing up the beer mats wondering if they held some sort of nutritional value. The soup was lovely. Thick but not gloupy and enough to fill you up while still being suitable as a starter if you had a bigger appetite. The bread was warm and tasted freshly made and the humous was a delightful accompaniment. All this for a very reasonable £3.50 and a smile with the service. In addition, the pub itself is very nicely done out. There is plenty of space in the converted hotel, which I am led to believe was on the dubious side of things before it was bought and restored in 2003. It is now interestingly done out in Victorian décor(complete with stuffed birds of prey), with a huge central island of a bar.

I don’t just love this place because there really isn’t anywhere else to go in this area… It has a fantastic interior and has huge portion burgers & chips, but I prefer the Fish & Chips. I love the old leather seats in there — especially the table next to the fireplace is a great spot to play a game of Scrabble. I believe they have Salsa lessons in the back room. Plus a quiz night and comedy night.

This pub, in fact, any enterprise which based itself here would be pretty superlative, the pub is stunning. It’s in the most gorgeous and pristinely presented Victorian interior, I think I’ve come across.(stuffed Osprey behind the bar anyone?) A voluptuous building, which the pub as the central square and each space neatly divided off so it doesn’t feel too cavernous, it’s just exquisite. And architecture aside, the pub is actually really good as well. A fine selection of ales, thus, cheap. And a really nice, down to earth, alternative crowd being friendly and pleasant. And they have a venue out the back, which again, just blew me away. It’s not so much a venue as a beautiful room, amazing stained glass ceiling and stunning decoration all round. I was there to watch a folk band, and even though there weren’t quite enough chairs for everyone, some people sat on the floor which made it feel more folky and intimate. I had such a nice time here, I could recommed it to anyone, even just to wander round, looking at the building.

The Salisbusy Hotel is a gorgeous renovated Victorian pub, with original features that hold their charm. It sits on a corner of Green Lanes, halfway between Manor House and Turnpike Lane. It has a wide selection of real ales and lagers on tap such as the much sought after Staropramen, and my favorite, the blond Leffe. They also serve food from the bar with a modern menu, fairly priced and with large servings. This is a place where you can happily wile away a few hours of the night or day in deep armchairs, and then return to the fray refreshed and revived. You might say the Salisbury is more time machine than pub, it has awards on show celebrating its level preservation and an array of stuffed animals which were most likely bagged in 1908. Meet your Dad there for Sunday lunch, its a rare find you won’t forget.

The Salisbury Hotel is a truly beautiful public house; standing out as somewhat of an oasis in the middle of a bustling Turk-centric Green Lanes. The interior of the building harks back to a bygone age, and one half expects to see Victorian gentlemen propping up the bar. Jesus & Mary Chain coming through the eclectic jukebox brings you back. A age old pub with a wide selection of Czech lagers and Fullers ales, the added bonus of Jonathan Crisp, erm, crisps. This establishment has an interior to match any in London. Availability of food can be a little unreliable so don’t bank on there being any. Instead sit back enjoy a a good drink in perfect drinkers den. There is a friendly atmosphere if occasionally slow service, as a weekday retreat or sunday lunch it sits perfectly. Late night on the weekend can be a little busy and service does suffer. However the prices are fair and the ale is kept very well, there’s room to breathe and I’ve never seen a hint of trouble. The Salisbury is a delightful local that suffers only from being occasionally chilly. A small sacrifice in such a beautiful setting; a King among pubs.
