My favourite go to place for lunch on a Friday. It can get quite busy in the dining areas, so book ahead if you want to guarantee a seat. The best thing about Friday is that they have a special lunch menu. Everything is under £10 and you get a beer thrown in as well. Upon arriving you find a sear and if you’re in the dining area downstairs you get limited table service. Otherwise go to the bar to order and your food is brought straight to you. Décor is good, quite old and rustic. The dining area downstairs is much nicer than upstairs. Food wise, I found everything to be quite good. The sausages and mash were excellent with lots of gravy. The glazed chicken I ordered another time was chicken wrapped in bacon, covered in cheese and BBQ sauce. It was quite delicious if a little strange. They don’t throw service onto the bill if you’re a small group or you pay at the bar. Quite often they’re so busy that paying at the bar is the best option.

The Friday lunch hour is a magical time that I look forward to all week. It is when you get to enjoy not eating another boring homemade sandwich and maybe even having a cheeky pint or two with the co-workers. Alas, the Chris Hatton has wasted this week’s Friday lunch time. There are a few sandwich options on their lunch special menu which includes a beer for £8. I opted for the BBQ pulled beef sandwich and when I went up to order my food and pick my pint, I was informed that the house ale I picked was an additional £1. Fair enough… perhaps that was my mistake. However, when our food arrived, all of us received lukewarm, measly portions. The buns on my co-workers fish finger sandwich was burnt and another co-worker only received 10 chips on the side of his sandwich! Although the beef on my sandwich was quite tasty, there were about two tablespoons of beef on the bread. Chris Hatton, you have wasted my lunch time this week, and I promise I won’t let you waste it ever again.

Just up the road from where we work, it should be one of our regulars, but as King of Diamonds is nearby, it isnt. The place is big, has a dungeon like downstairs area, plenty of seats on the ground floor, but the joy is probably standing outside in the summer. The bar is never too crowded so you get served quite quickly. Weve had a pub quiz downstairs once, which was comfortable, and the food was ok!

went here for three beers last night and really liked it, wide variety of lagers and beers on offer, friendly bar staff and a party atmosphere. Maybe its only like that at christmas, who knows, but i thought it was good. My friends had a sharing platter of food, I had a battered mushroom and a new potato with a paprika based sauce. Both were acceptable in a pub food sort of way. The mulled wine looked and smelled good but I didn’t try any.

OK, I haven’t been here for 5 years, so you could take my review with a pinch of salt, apart from the fact that Nay says it still rubbish. This place used to be called the Goose at Hatton Garden and was a really bad pub then. Pretty cheap considering its proximity to the city, but that was its only redeeming feature.

Pretty big, souless pub, just off High Holborn. Was looking for a Pizza Express but didn’t find it as my friends refused to listen to me and insisted on looking on maps on their sodding blackberries, which meant that instead of going where I said to go, we went totally the wrong direction and ended up here as we were hungry and there were clearly no pizzas about. For some reason they have an extended sausage menu. I mean in the sense that they have a big variety. Except they don’t actually have everything they profess to sell, only the ticked items on the board(about 4 out of 15 types when we were there). Didn’t look too tasty when they arrived and the mash looked like it came out of a packet. My pie should have been fine — I mean clearly a pre-frozen one heated up in oven. Except that the pastry was a bit hard and not much filling. Gravy served with was thin and tasteless, the veg was limp and a poor excuse for carrots and beans and the chips were soggy. Oh, we walked past Pizza Express on the way home. It was where I said it was. And everyone inside looked really happy. Bah humbug.

Went to this restaurant/bar for a few drinks and dinner with friends after arriving in London that day. All of us were terribly jetlagged but really enjoyed our meals. Majority of us had fish and chips, which were really good– huge portions! Served with radioactive green mashed peas that were oh so yummy. I loved the fish with lemon and vinegar. The chips were perfectly done– thick but not gargantuan and tasty. My vegetarian friend had their veggie burger– which had lentils and various vegetables in it. She absolutely loved it and gave it many thumbs up. It looked really good. Other diner at the table had sausage and mash– he seemed pretty happy with it. This place’s specialty, apparently, is sausage– with tons of different types. Big bar selection– lots of different beers, ales, wines, and whiskies. I had a ginger tosser that wasn’t quite my cup of tea, but still was decent. Service– you have to go up to the bar to order your food and drinks and such, then they bring it to your table. It worked out pretty well for the most part– although it was very strange how two of the fish and chips came out within 5 minutes and everyone else’s dinner took almost 25 minutes longer. Over all a good experience. :)

Steeping into Christopher Hatton’s after being outside in the cold til the point were my feel turned into trays of ice cubes, each toe isolated in a frozen mass of self, was a warm respite. The atmosphere was cozy, the lighting warm, the crowd jovial. And let me tell you, I was hungry as a tiger who forgot to eat his lunch. Rar I needed food. The menu sounded lovely — some typical pub fare as well as pumpkin ravioli and other such delights. My eyes scanned the menu like lasers. Zoom. A roasted vegetable with chili and basil tart set upon a bed of salad. Ding ding ding! A winner! We placed our order. 15 – 20 minutes the bar maiden said. Well hardy hardy harrrrr, if it didn’t take over 30 minutes for the food to arrive! At about 35 minutes I asked one of the workers if he could peek in and check on our meals. They were brought out about one minute later. That causes suspicion is my Dick Tracey-like detective mind; suspicion that the food had been ready and someone forgot about it. Hrrruummppf. The veggie burger my friend has was good My tart was lame as a bad joke. It tasted like they could have bought the tart at Iceland. The dressy on the salad was too oily. Also, when salad is just romaine lettuce and tomatoes, it’s a sad, sad world. The food was mediocre. The staff was nice, but could have been more on top of it. The atmosphere was good, however, and I’d recommend this place, but only for drinks.
