Went for Sunday lunch before Arsenal game Best Sunday lunch I’ve had in ages Forget going to Arsenal club restaurants this is by far better food and value for money A must will be going again

A good little local pub and cozy. This place is nestled in the back streets, though close to the Overground. They do serve food, though it’s very average British pub food, nothing fun, adventurous or interesting. Why would one come hear? Well they do live cover music sometimes and it rarely busy. Apart from that, I just take it that people venture in due to easy and quietness.

This place was recommended to me by a friend who pointed out it’s more of a place to drink than eat. I’d completely agree: it’s a rockin’ place to get your booze on! Love the sixties-style décor and old-school rock n’ roll playing cheerfully all night long. It was packed on a Friday night, but emptied out noticeably after 10pm. It’s open until 1am and serves food until 9.30. We had a burger and sticky toffee pudding between us. My pal’s burger and chips seemed decent enough. The STP was huge and perfectly tasty, although the sauce became solidified. The wine was fine, but gave me a memorable hangover! Next time, I’ll be on the beer. They also serve a couple of vintage cocktails such as Old Fashioneds. If I was a local, I’d definitely be back for laid-back lagers and ale. Or perhaps a G&T.

Good food at a good price! My family and I usually come here the night before going on holiday as an alternative to the bad food at the hotel restaurant. It’s quite spacious and there is a good selection of drinks behind the bar. The staff are really friendly and more than happy to help with anything. Is the food the best you’ve ever had? No. But it’s not trying to be. For the value it’s really good and a nice place to chill out. The only thing I would say is to avoid the garlic bread as it’s bland and tiny!

I have been going to the snooty for years and it is one of my favourite pubs in London. I am lucky to have this in my neighbourhood! Food is excellent and the drinks are fairly priced, always suggesting something new — seasonal ales, and the guys at the bar are really nice. I love all the pics and posters on the wall. I hope this place will never change!

Great casual local spot. Good beer selection and the food that I’ve had(burger & roast chicken + sides) has been spot on. And the name alone deserves 5 stars!

This pub has been kind of sort of my local for a while, despite being between 15 – 30 minutes walk from where I have been living the last 9 years. It is certainly the pub I have visited most often, so I am delighted that is finally a geographical local, not just a sentimental one. The beer festivals they hold every few months are the highlights from a beer point of view, but they are a reliable source of quality ale all year around. Otter Ale, a favourite of mine from Devon, is their regular ale(house ale). Their other ales are ever changing, including one specified guest which carries a 20p reduction for CAMRA members. They also serve proper cider. Keen interest in music from the pictures adorning the walls to the juke box to the, at times unusual, DJs that perform. People are occasionally foxy but never snooty at the Snooty Fox!

Average pub with average food, didn’t impress me. We had spent all day at Draughts and were quite hungry, so we made our way down here to get some noms. And by «we» I mean a group of eight. Sure, that’s a largeish group to fit into a pub, but not so large that grumpy and slow service is warranted. The food selection seems a bit more eclectic than most pubs, so we were intrigued. The actual food turned out to be a bit bland and lower quality than expected, though the portions were quite large. As mentioned above, the staff treated us as if we were a nuisance and we felt like they just wanted to get rid of us, not a pleasant experience.

I used to live a mere minute or two away from here, and would always enjoy going for a drink here before seeing a friend off as they left for the overground. It’s got a small amount of outdoor seating too which is fab for when the sun’s out. Judging by other reviews it’s not necessarily worth it for food, but for drinks this place was always a good bet!

So we had, legendarily, heard of the Sunday roasts at the Snooty Fox(and by legendarily I mean someone told us and then we read about them on Unilocal.) And so, a Sunday roast event was planned! I like the décor pub a lot. It’s like old man meets rock and roll, complete with rock icons and half naked girls on the walls. I have no doubt this place is lively as hell at night. The roast is quality. You can choose from your regular meats(lamb or beef or pork or chicken) with all the trimmings and a swimming pool of gravy, or you can get the Full Biffter for £18 which has all four. And not a small potion either but monster meat. It was a liiiiiittle too fatty overall on the meat but quality. Normally it would get a solid four stars. However, the service here was so poor that I have to take it down a star. And I mean poor. When we sat, we waited for our server. No one stopped despite tons if people walking by. When I finally got someone’s attention, she rolled her eyes and told me we order at the bar. Ok, cool, no need for that, just asking a question and never been here before. It basically continued like this the entire time. When I asked for more horseradish sauce, she picked up the public one on the table behind me that everyone had been using and dropped it on my table. First off, there was almost, almost, a full spoonful in there(how lucky for me) and second, gross. Was it really too much effort to get a new dish? So Snooty Fox, if you are training your staff to indeed be snooty, then job well done. But otherwise, I wish your staff was as good as your roast.

Lovely pub. Great for a chilled out drink with a couple of mates as it has a relaxed vibe and plenty of seating available. The open kitchen instantly attracted me as you can watch an endless parade of goodies on their way to food heaven. So when I arrived, I had great expectations for the Snooty fox Sunday roast, unfortunately this meal looked better than it tasted. I had ‘the full Biffter’, a Sunday lunch with a slice of everything. I found the meat to be a bit bland but plentiful although extremely fatty. It would have been nice to have more veg to balance it out(you only get one roast potato and one Yorkshire pudding to accompany a small square of cauliflower cheese and greens). Customer service on this day was also a little bit of a let down. Our server was rather brusque with us on a number of instances and when we asked for some extra horseradish sauce, brought us a half used individual portion pot from another table rather than refilling the one from our table. Luck of the draw? Maybe. But I’m not sure I’ll be returning to find out.

The Snooty Fox is a great local. It’s never too crowded, the beer selection is great, fairly priced for the area. The staff is very nice and friendly. Great Sunday roast. The outside area is lovely with a few picnic tables.

Lovely pub, not too busy on a Sunday, plenty of good tables and an open kitchen. It’s opposite the station(Canonbury), but is so much better and quieter than you might think. The sunday roast was delicious and the service was really good. I had the cheese board, which was filling, plus I think I could have asked for more biscuits if I needed them. Lovely staff, nice atmosphere!

Great summer pub but a bit pricey and often hard to get a seat. The Snooty is one of three pubs which I frequent in Newington Green — together with the Alma and the Cellars. I cycle home past the cellars every day and when the sun is shining it’s my favourite place to stop for a pint. At other times of the year I’ve often found it hard to get a seat inside — a hard thing to criticise a place for, popularity. The drinks are also at the top end with two pints costing over £9. It’s a good pub overall, and they do put on some good local ales and ciders. 3.5 stars would be fairest, but the price and seating make it more a 3 than a 4

I really enjoyed this pub. I recently moved to Islington, and it was definitely worth the 20-minute walk from Holloway Road to Canonbury to get here. Other Unilocalers have covered it all: lots of cozy seating, laid back vibe, fun décor, great jukebox ‘choons and a great quiz night(I caught the beginning of it, as I was there on a Tuesday night). My boyfriend and I shared a half-chicken with creamy mash and cheesy broccoli, baked to perfection. Although there were a few nice local ales on tap, I think the only major improvement I’d make to the Snooty Fox is a slightly better beer selection — I’m pretty partial to wheat beer myself. I’ll definitely go back — perhaps next time on a lazy Sunday afternoon.

Definitely a pub you can count on for good food, genuine pub atmosphere, and decent prices. Mussels were delish and a very generous portion. The bread that comes with it is incredible. I also had the sweet potato croquette and it was lovely. Chicken Kiev with garlic mash was also quite tasty(can’t really go wrong though). I am intrigued to try the ½ or ¼ chicken next time. Solid selection of sides to choose from. 8 – 10 drinks on draft, including Addlestones. Good amount of seating for a small space. Definitely worth swinging by if you’re in the area!

I think I had a three star experience in a four star pub yesterday. we popped in for lunch and almost turned around to go elsewhere because it was empty. A quick push on the door surprised us, but the pub was indeed barren apart from the staff. It did start to fill up, but this was a late lunch at 2:30. Lunchtime mains weren’t extensive, and the focus is on their rotisserie chicken with sides. It’s about a tenner for chicken and sides(which vary from chips to red cabbage and salads). We tried the sauteed potatoes, aforementioned cabbage and chargrilled veg. Tasty as it was, nothing groundbreaking. And the sauce on my chicken was actually too salty(and covering the chicken so there wasn’t an easy way to avoid it). I’m being harsh on a pub that I think I like. They have Redemption beer(on offer at the moment — it’s been donated and all profits are going to the Red Cross Japan campaign), the retro décor is lovely. I like it here. I just wish I’d had a better lunch. The nail in the three star coffin for me was the incessant changing of the music. We didn’t hear a song all the way through, and one minute it was jazz, the next punk, the next blues. But only half a song. The retro jukebox might be a cute touch, but that didn’t make for the most relaxing weekend lunch.

First person to touch my septum wins! The Tuesday night quiz at The Snooty Fox is Legendary. Or at least it should be. Tied results are settled by whatever means the Harry Hill-esque quiz-master can think up on the spot. And most of his tie-breakers suggest he’s handsomely paid — in beer — for his hosting duties. This gives the Snooty quiz a decidedly shambolic air, which is most welcome — it quickly puts pay to anyone getting competitive, and hence sapping all the FUN out of the evening. The pub itself is great — beaten old leather sofas, unvarnished wood tables, etc. There’s a little outdoors area, which is nicely sectioned off from the street with a bit of trellis. They do some good gastopub-type food and have three ales on tap. The odds are good that there’ll only be one ale actually working at any one time. I’m unable to confirm whether this is the result of the quiz-master’s consumption. Is it the best pub in the area? Well, there’s only one way to decide… um… Arm wrestle!

I’ve been a regular at the Snooty Fox since last summer, and since earlier this year, the pub seems to have been working to improve its selection of real ales. Previously it was always Shepherd Neame Masterbrew(which was okay but nothing special) and London Pride(ditto). Now, however, alongside the regular St Austel Tribute, there is a revolving guest beer, almost all of whom are good choices and ought to persuade non ale drinkers to be more adventurous in their choice of tipple. As others have said, there is plenty of seating — including some sofas and high backed chairs around pretty sizeable tables — with photos of stars of screen and music on the walls(along with the vinyl jukebox an indicator that the people running this place have a love for good music). There is a small outdoor seating area for the smokers too, which is a bonus for those of us who still like to puff away. The food is averagely priced(less than some gastropubs, more than some local boozers’ pub grub) but well worth it for the quality. The sausage and mash tasted great, home made, with lovely gravy,. Yum yum! And the sharing platter of pitta bread, crudités and dips(paté, hummus, etc) was gorgeous(especially the beetroot & goats cheese mix). For those who don’t like to go home at 11pm, it is open until 1am on weekends, with DJs playing fifties and sixties music, from well known tunes to the weird and obscure. The pub quiz on Tuesdays is great fun too. — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — Since writing this they have increased the number of cask ales on offer to three, all of which change regularly, and all of which are of the highest quality. — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — And as of early 2011 they have FOUR hand pumps on with a good selection of regularly changing cask ales, and also a regular real cider or perrry too. — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — And I should now mention their ale festivals. They just had their eighth(October 2013) with a great selection of ales. Brilliant.

The Snooty Fox is at the end of my street and one Sunday my boyfriend and I decided to check it out. Since it is winter, cold and a Sunday night, I didn’t want to spend the evening going from place to place. When we walked into the Snooty Fox it seemed fine. The décor was warm but it was almost empty and no one was eating. This made us both a little nervous because we wanted to grab a bite. The environment was pretty low key so we decided to sit have a drink. The pub was on the dark side and there wasn’t much activity in the kitchen so after our drink we left. To be fair to the Snooty Fox when I have walked by on Sunday mornings/afternoon it is always crowded with people enjoying a Sunday Roast. As just a pub, the Snooty Fox had a great vibe and I would go back. Since Sunday Roast seems to be so popular, next time I pop in for something to eat, I’ll go on a Sunday afternoon rather than a Sunday evening.
