This is a very decent chain of Thai restaurants, I’ve been to far worse in the Fulham area, and so far this one has been the best of the lot. On offer is friendly service and good value dining.

The Thai is a Thai restaurant. Not really a surprise is it? Moderately sized, the staff were very welcoming of our slightly drunk and very hungry group of 16 after the Polo. They had us set up in short order at a collection of tables and food arrived not long after that. The Pad Thai(a classic test for any Thai restaurant) was excellent with a good balance of sweet and spicy and a triumvirate of textures between the crunchy bean sprouts, tender noodles, and chewy chicken. Our choice of pork massaman also was quite satisfying and the smooth blend of spices indicated that this was a dish that had sufficient simmering time to bring out its best rather than being flash cooked to order. I honestly can’t remember much of the rest of the food save that we wiped our plates clean. I blame the Zombie cocktails at the Polo and the wine with the food. Overall, I can’t say that The Thai would be worth a trek out there just for the food, but if you are in the area and looking for a satisfying meal, it’s a good option to consider.

Excellent food and ambience. Very quite for a Saturday night but the staff were polite and lovely. £43 for 2 courses and a Singha beer each. Lost for any other words.

Standard Thai fare in the heart of Parsons Green. The food isn’t anything to write home about but it will not offend and the décor/vibe of the restaurant is good for groups or something a little more romantic. Happy to go again on this visit, there were a number of interesting specials I didn’t get the opportunity to try out.

The Thai had some big, big shoes to fill. Our go-to Thai had been the Hand and Flower Pub, where the cocktails were delish and we discovered Yum Neau, which has forever changed the face of salads at Casa Findingmoxie. But, the crunch killed it. Dead. So, it took some time before I was able to look at another neighbourhood Thai joint without grieving and residual bitterness. One unusually hungover Saturday, we wandered up for lunch and got taken in by the two course lunch for under £9. We shouldn’t have liked it. We were grossly hungover and were still hung up on the Hand and Flower. But from the moment we walked in, we loved the the cool purple and fuschia of the walls, the edgy and chilled music, and the beautiful menu(with photos that actually looked delicious). We had a basic basil and chili chicken stirfry, Tom Yum soup, and Pad See Ew. The stirfry was very flavourful but light. The soup was mildly spicy and warming with just the right amount of coconut milk(too much is disaster!) The Pad See Ew was very tasty– though just bordering on the slightly salty. Strangely, it was made with spaghetti like egg noodles and not the fat flat noodles I’m used to. But I figure next time, I could just ask for it how I like it. Order the ice cream – it’s very generous and in a proper ice cream parlor glass. [UPDATE: the staff were very happy to substitute flat noodles on our second order! Yum!] Prices are mostly under a tenner and they do takeaway. Service was very friendly and present. There appeared to be a decent cocktail menu, but for reasons alluded to above, we could not sample its wares. Next time! Long story long, we’re happy to make this our local Thai. Goodbye, sweet Hand and Flower.

The newest restaurant around this way. Only time or a clairvoyant will tell if the locals will be as brutal and unresponsive to this place as they were to the previous incumbents, Fishworks. A change of direction though is probably a good thing. There are plenty of European restaurants around here but good Asian food there isn’t. Here they serve lots of stir fries and curries plus a really good list of salads. I’ve had the red curry here — chicken variety and coconut rice which I tend to have in Thai restaurants all over the place. I’m boring but at least any comparison is always a fair test. This one was nice, good quality meat and loads of flavour — about £10 in total. There is also a set lunch, 2 course menu for £8.95 which isn’t bad around here. Service was nice too — good luck to this one.
