I have a definite soft spot for this place — in fact, when we visit London, it’s become our tradition to have our first lunch here. It’s certainly not fancy, but the people-watching(both inside and in the busy street outside through the full-height windows) is terrific and the food — especially the curries — is surprisingly good. If anything, in the last few years it’s gotten a little spruced up — and so much more pleasant now that it’s fully non-smoking.Cheap and cheerful, and a great way to see a little of «real» London for visitors to this bustling neighborhood.

Get what you pay for. Quick, inexpensive good. Actually had good American IPA there! Grab a table number first then head to bar to order food and drinks. Was there on a Saturday night, an wasn’t as busy as I thought it be. Good food, in expensive, local. I’d go back.

Good old Spoons right near Marble Arch station and a cinema. I do love the history around some of their locales — this one is named after a famous London execution site — «the Tyburn tree» could fit 24 victims on it. This is apparently commemorated on a stone slab in the traffic island — how nice. It doesn’t have a lot of stand-out character — your average, standard Spoons, though I have found it very useful for a a pint while waiting for friends to arrive on the Oxford Tube or as a pre-drink venue before a party in the area. Unfortunately, the Marble Arch area is not a pub friendly part of town so this might be your best bet, actually. It’s often packed but if you wait a few minutes, you will get a seat as it’s a big place behind those full length windows. The wait has never been long waiting for food to arrive and I don’t think I have ever really queued for ordering a drink no matter how packed, so they must be doing something right. I have gotten the chicken Ceaser and the buffalo wings before which are uniform at all the chain pubs.

We just finished walking around Hyde Park & looking for British fish & chips. Stopped by Tyburn for pub grub. Also had bangers & mash £7, salmon & vegetables with strong bow cider £9, chicken & mayo wrap with Pepsi drink £5. The fish & chips were £8. This was great with crunchy battered chips and peas. Most importantly the chips were unsalted. The bar is incredibly busy and you have to compete for seats and tables. You need to order from the bar. Also need to beg the staff to clear the tables as turnover is so rapid they can’t keep up. Remember the table number when you order your food. For £30 we had a good British feed.

Rock-solid«Spoon» near Marble Arch that offers the predictable food and drinks choices in a nicely laid-out pub with a huge window front, so wherever you’re sitting you will have a nice of view of the typical London«rush» outside. Those unfavorable reviews were written by people who prefer to pay UKP1.50 more per pint of beer and several UKP more for food in other, maybe more stylish pubs in the area(there aren’t too many though in this particular corner). London visitors on a budget can confidently eat and drink at The Tyburn. During my recent 10-day visit to the Proms and the Great British Beer Festival I had breakfast at this place on a few occasions — their breakfast deals are just great, with a generous«large breakfast» option for just UKP5.49 with good quality — you simply can’t do better in London than a Spoon. There are also regular breakfast and regular/large veggie breakfasts(yuck!) on offer, as are eggs royale(poached eggs on toast with smoked salmon and sauce hollandaise) and eggs benedict(the same, only with cured ham instead of salmon). The regular food(served after 12 a.m.) includes the usual selection of «clubs»; that’s a Wetherspoon term for specially discounted meal options on certain days. There’s a steak club, a fish club, a chicken club, and of course, the sunday roast. You get the picture. OFCOURSE most of the food is pre-prepared to keep costs down and the service quick(never had to wait for a meal at a Spoon for more than 15 minutes after ordering!) — but the same arrogant twits who complain about that would NODOUBT otherwise bicker about the slow serving if everything had to be freshly made. That said, the food is of generally solid and perfectly edible quality(some dishes, like the Indian ones on «Curry Club» day, Thursday, are even good!). Mains at Wetherspoon will cost between just 5 to 9 quid on a «club day» — and that usually includes a soft or alcoholic drink. What’s there to complain? The service also does not«suck» — on any of my 6 or seven visits it was quick and efficient, if not necessarily always the friendliest(imagine YOU would have to serve food to some of the morons who wrote the negative reviews below — and for a pitiful wage, too!). Naturally, this city centre Spoon can get very busy after 5 p.m. on weekdays and all the time on weekends. And not all of the patrons during those busy hours may be people you would normally socialize with. The pub is just a 4 – 5 minute walk from Marble Arch tube station and two minutes from the northeastern corner of Hyde Park. There is outside seating, but the traffic is extremely busy even at night or on weekends. The real ales are of good quality, well maintained, and not too expensive(UKP3.15 for a guest ale — try to get that at ANY non-Spoon pub in the city!) — International lagers that can cost you 5 quid or more elsewhere are at least one UKP cheaper here, too. And, unlike many of those oh-so-fancy places or hippie watering holes will not have the RIGHT, branded glass for *any* standard lager or ale — the Spoon has them! For many beer drinkers, that’s just great. Of course, the Spoons in the smaller cities and in the countryside are cheaper — real ales can go down to as little as UKP1.99 — but this is London! Which makes this pub near ideal for a quick drink or meal after or a breakfast before a shopping spree on Oxford Street. A 7 – 8 minute walk will take you to Selfridges or Marks & Spencer for example. If I had a comment it would be that The Tyburn closes rather early, at 11 p.m.(23.00) every night — even on Fridays at Saturdays. Most city Spoons are open until 1 a.m. That limits your time after a concert e.g. — last drinks must be ordered by 10.45. See my photos to get some idea of the atmosphere and the food. And never mind some of those arrogant nobs who wrote bad stuff about The Tyburn below.

Pros: For England a nice selection of American style craft beer. Cons: maybe I’m used to the U.S.A. but the wait staff is terrible. I gave up trying to eat here. If you need a descent Americancraft beer come here but don’t bother with the food.

Fun atmosphere great for drinks, but I didn’t enjoy my food very much. First off it came out way too quickly which makes me think its pre-made in the back. I ordered a cheese and tomato toastie which was two pieces of bread, one slice of cheese and a couple tomatoes. Although my sister did enjoy her chicken Mexican burger.

Meh… and with«meh» I’m being generous. Another wetherspoon pub with no character. Good food deals but that is all. Loud, cigarette smoke constantly wafting thru, and clientele at many hours who seem to be making a strong effort to be gargoyle-esque aged butresses propping up the outside walls. Nothing notable about this pub other than the fact that there is stunningly nothing going on to make it interesting. I reiterate…“meh”

The burgers are okay, the service sucks. They have some sustainable fish option(s) which if you’re interested in the wholeness of your food is a welcoming sign, but for the most part The Tyburn is another run-of-the-mill hotel bar. The food is neither offensive, nor memorable and the price point is nothing that will scorch your wallet, so if that’s your thing, then enjoy… if you’re looking for something with a bit more quality cuisine, keep searching. This has sports bar written all over it.

Sad to see so many unfavourable reviews, but, luckily, I had a more uplifting experience and like the Wetherspoon chain for its ability to deliver a good meal at a fair price. London is a difficult enough place to navigate in order to find a reasonably-priced meal, and thankfully, we can always count on a Wetherspoon location to fill that void for us. The Tennessee Gourmet burger was tasty and included Jack Daniel’s BBQ sauce, bacon, and other stuff I can’t think of now. Chips/fries are goodz and there is an assortment of condiments to complement your meal. With a pint the total was about £7.89. If you decide to go with a glass of pop/soda, it brings the cost down by a quid, methinks. WiFi is available and a few tellys if you just want to relax. This place really allowed us to unwind after a trek through the London streets and still has a decent street view to keep an eye on the street happenings.

If you’re thinking about going to The Tyburn, don’t do it. I stopped by The Tyburn on my way to my hotel one day and will never go back. The customer service was terrible and the food was lackluster. Flies and gnats were flying around my food and the bar. The only two things are going for this place: free wifi and a place to wait for a storm to pass.

Chicken tikka mansala, fish and chips, and two sodas for £18. Not a place you’d take a date, but just fine for a cheap dinner. Kinda like noodles and co. in the states, but with a large menu.

The Tyburn is literally around the corner from Marble Arch .The amosphere was friendly and most of the staff were good. The prices were reasonable and the food was good recommend the chocolate fudge cake with vanilla ice cream(yummy) .It had a lot of young customers and got really loud toward the end of the evening, which is hard if you just want to chat you tend to raise your voice.

Not too bad a pub set in the top corner part of Edgware Road, this place I found quite busy quite and friendly atmosphere the crowd in there was pretty young though, but all in all I would say it’s not bad pub definitely worth popping in, food there was pretty good too. I

Your basic JD Weatherspoons. Lots going on in this place: restaurant, bar, video games. I’ve only gone here during the Autumn Real Ale Festival. The place is nice enough. The beers are in good shape and the prices are fair. Definitely not my usual haunt but I don’t mind going here to try the festival ales.

Easily accessed from Marble Arch tube station, this is a spacy and decent Wetherspoons that had the usual array of real ales on offer when I visited on 19 July 2011. CAMRA vouchers were accepted, but some beers were misleadingly pump-clipped yet not on offer(unclearly labelled as ‘available soon’).

The Tyburn is located on the southernmost corner of Edgware Road within throwing distance of Marble Arch. The building itself looks quite modern and in fact one of the things I like about ‘Spoons is that every one is different, from newer buildings with more glass than the Louvre to good old fashioned looking pubs with ivy creeping up the walls. This one, although modern, is quite small comparatively and can get packed fairly quickly of a night time. It is within easy walking distance from Oxford Street, Hyde Park and Paddington and has good access to public transport on lots of tube and bus routes. However… When I went, I was with a large group ordering food and drink. We had several problems with food orders, being told some things had run out when a couple of minutes later someone else ordered it and later that meal turned up at the table, incorrect food arriving, cold food arriving, and I had a fairly bad time as well as 20 minutes after ordering for myself and my girlfriend, someone came out to tell me they had run out of my option and to choose another, which didn’t appear for another 30 minutes(long after everyone else had received their meals, eaten, and were on puddings, and they didn’t bring my friends noodles meal out until they finally arrived with my meal. In spite of this, I do like Wetherspoons for promoting lesser known ales and ciders, which are very good, and their prices remain fairly low, but I have come to expect better from what is usually a decent chain.

Why anyone would want to come here is beyond me. It’s part of the Wetherspoon’s chain, and would be considered totally lame even by American suburban standards. Considering that it’s neither in America nor the suburbs, its existence in this neighborhood is totally inexplicable and inexcusable. The only reason I’ve even been is because a friend of mine decided that it would be a convenient place for a large group. I’m embarrassed to admit that I’ve even set foot in here.
