Pleasantly surprised after visiting the Venue for the first time last night. Friendly staff and punters and good music in the maze of different rooms.

I’ve been coming to the venue for a few years now and have to say I love the new security there this weekend. Gone are the moody, rude old bouncers and hopefully here to stay are a professional, happy bunch that don’t mind a chat. You can feel the better vibe as soon as you get to the front door. Good decision Venue.

Complete and utter dump. I would rather sandpaper my scrotum than go here. Over priced entry, moody bouncers and horrible atmosphere. Why is this place still open?

No Foam Cannon! I’ve just been advised there has never been a Foam Cannon — but there was a snow machine. I’m sorry for the mis-information and seeing as foam is not on the menu well.. . what’s the point unless it’s Christmas.

Do you like your floors sticky and your music loud? If so, The Venue is the place for you! For many years now, The Venue has been a great place to come to watch bands. In actuality, one of THEONLY reasons to come to New Cross. The building that houses The Venue is actually a pretty grand affair. Aside the sticky floors, the building seems to be well maintained(I have seen a two-man team cleaning the walls early in the evening!). Most of the bands appearing at The Venue are tribute acts, so if you are thinking of going to the top floor to check out tribute versions of ABBA, The Killers or The Prodigy… consult the website to see who will be playing that evening. When on the top floor, you will mingle with a lot of local students and some(fairly young) people swaying in drunken fashion, while your shoes adhere to the floor and your gut gets punched with the low frequencies from the fierce PA system. Great fun in anybody’s book! The lower floors house some pretty cool bars which are actually well designed and have a decent enough range of drinks.

Ok so where to start about this cattle market. Oh i guess that’s a good place. this is a cattle market, where teenyboppers go to try and pull other teenyboppers to add to the currently high teen preg rate. he he. other than that its actually quite a nice local club. The music is usually cheesy but the main room has tribute bands that are quite good, and its not too expensive, When you go in it is a lot smarter than expected. the outside gives the total wrong impression. I have been here many times when I was younger but not as much now im 25. It is more suited for the as I mentioned earlier, teenyboppers.

Dank pit of all things untoward The Venue is perhaps only notable for the savage, dark beating heart that seems to ravage at its inerds. Carved from a resurrected cinema build The Venue is a monolith to New Cross acting as an inciter to all things unholy of the night. It’s towering heap sprawls across at least three floors of thronging wrongness with an indie room atop and a space for cover bands on the lower floor all other things lie inbetween. Drunken wild beasts often prowl around the stairwells stalking some unknown meandering pray, as yet undiscovered, occasionally screeing an ungodly melody from their mouthtraps. Their female counterparts seemingly hunt in packs, travelling the dance floor in aggressive tribes. Generally the end of a night in The Venue will either leave you feeling a total sense of internal loss or alternatively you’ll be smirking from chin to chin at the perverse peak you’ve had into worlds best and safest left unknown.

The venue has five different floors, all of which has a different type of music. THere are live tribute bands but some are actually very good, espeically the Elvis impersonater. It is true what bigdaveshot said about getting in early for a fiver, it is dead and I believe that it is nice to start off somewhere else. Drinks are quite expensive and it is great to have a change of scenery. We try to get in teh venue before midnight, after which it can get more expensive, then straight to the bar for a few snakebites then we hit the dance floor. At the end of the night, it is a trip to the kebab shop(well not anymore) as I do not trust them The venue used to be a haven for trouble, but now it is rather safe, however, be caredul in New cross on the way home, which is not so safe!

first thing is first– the stars. the reason for three stars?- its just too expenive, and could seriously do with a lick of paint. one of the problems is getting in for a fiver before 9 pm– trouble is theres no one there, and no other room open. i recently went to the venue, and to my suprise they have closed the old entrance, and built a new one on the other side. this leads into the oh so awful fagans bar! the venue now has a new room– the 90’s room. which i consider to be one of the best rooms there. the benefits of the venue? well, its open till 4 am, and you can still get the bus home, when it turns up. the people and bouncers in there are very friendly. you have different bands every friday and saturday nights. for a nightclub this sint bad, although like i said earlier, the main hall could do with a lick of paint– black is soo last year! lol

The Venue is a great place if you want a fun and care-free night out. They have coverbands starting the night and a variety of floors covering all tastes in music. Fair enough your feet do stick to the floor and you get drinks in plastic cups, but it has a fantastic atmosphere and when I have been I have never seen any trouble. The crowd does feel young, even for a 23year old — but it the perfect place to let your hair down and relive your youth with the funky music and friendly feeling everyone exudes.

A genuine spit-and-sawdust club, feet sticking to the floor place with wideboys, painted ladies and drugged teenagers. Having said that, we always find at least some music we like on one of the floors, the bouncers are surprisingly chilled out(my mate was supposed to be kicked out for tomfoolery and the bloke actually let him off!), and the view from the smoking area makes everything worthwhile.

I live across the road from here, and this place is always rather busy, and there are so many different bands playing here. The onky catch is, these are all cover bands. Perfect if you are into that, and are desperate to re live abit of blondie, or beatles. or even the arctic monkeys! It is quite a big place on the new cross road(in all its glory) and is a fun night out. The prices range, from around £7 to £12, but often you can get in cheaper before midnight. Make sure you bring your I. D and you’re sorted.
