This small shopfront in a most unprepossessing area is a place where you can find workmanship of a kind not seen in most places. John, the owner, and Steve his son work with wood. Rather like saying Tiger Woods works with golf balls. They are not artists, they are hugely talented tradesmen. And if it can me made of wood, they can do it.
Over the years, for me, they have: Made a kitchen worksurface. Repaired a 200 year old chair. Made a bed. Made new window frames and door frames. Re-​made my house barge boards to match. Repaired a picture frame. Re-​built a pre-​war car wooden frame. Made replacement architrave. Are you getting the idea?
Don’t bother looking for them on the Internet — they aren’t that kind of business. But, if you need something in wood, go.
