I have to agree with Larissa, this place is the business. Came out here on my fish and chips expedition and it was exactly what I wanted. 5.90 got my buddy and I a huge piece of perfectly fried cod and a mound of wonderful chips. I said yes(emphatically) to the salt and vinegar. We took it outside, found a stoop and proceeded to devour. It was wrapped simply in paper and handed to us in a plastic bag. The fish batter was crispy and flaked away perfectly to uncover absolutely delicious fish inside. The chips, some of them soggy, some of them crisp were handcut and freakin outrageous. One order serves two people. Head right to the pub afterwards to complete your meal. Fantastic.

This place is the business. I know you’ve heard this about a million times before, but this is the best fish and chips I’ve had in London. It is right proper old school. I mean actual chip-shop chips(fresh, hand cut, some crispy, some squidgy, covered in copious amounts of salt and vinegar). Fish fried to order in a crispy batter. And only to take away. A huge filet of fish and large chips is enough to feed two reasonably hungry people. And it’s a pittance at just over £6. Luck be to you if you live in Shad Thames. Because with this place around at the corner of Tooley Street, Tanner Street and Jamaica Road — you’re gonna need it to resist eating fish and chips for dinner every night.

The real deal. Terrific, crispy fresh cod, made right in front of you. Inexpensive too. By time I got around to eating the chips, they were soggy, but that probably had more to do with my long walk home than the chips. For a Yank, this is what I always dreamed a fish and chips shop would be like.

I’m not a huge fan of fish and chips and only feel the need for the fast food of my childhood once every month or two. But when the urge strikes me next, I won’t bypass this place. I’ve lived in the area for three years and the first time I went in here was yesterday. This is a very basic, small fish and chip shop and being on the wrong corner of the Jamaica Road, Tooley Street, Tanner Street intersection it is very economical. The fish is great, a lovely crispy batter crunchily encoating a large piece of cod, haddock or whatever your pescatorial poison is. The chips are very ‘chip shop’, by which I mean they are hand cut, a little soft but basically inoffensive, none of your twice fried«fish! Kitchen of Borough Market» here. Service was prompt and the fish, at least on this occasion was cooked to order. The most impressive thing about this place is the pricing. Cod or haddock and chips for £5.40! If you are looking for cheap as chips, this is your place.
