Had a couple good experiences here during my trip to London. My burger was nothing amazing, but it was a fair burger. However, I would have liked to have some options when it came to the beef’s «done-ness». There was a good selection of burgers to choose from. I found the chips good, as well. Surprisingly enough, the chili was really good on my chips! I even stopped by for take-away of just chili — and it was good, except cold! My eat-in experience was very good. The server was attentive but not overly so.

When I saw«Ultimate», I had a really high expectation. It was going to be served by the St. Pauli Girl. Naked. And it would have sparklers on the plate. And the plate would be made of gold. So as you can imagine, it wasn’t quite like that. It was a decent burger(I was sort of surprised not to be asked how I wanted it cooked) that was dressed properly with lettuce(what we Americans call Bibb lettuce, I’m not sure how it’s called here) and a tomato that was proper and red without core. And a good thick mushroom with bleu cheese that had melted in the heat. There is no way this burger’s being picked up and eaten, but I’ll admit that I did at least try to take one bite before falling back to a knife and fork. Chips were good and hot, some were a little overdone and some were a little underdone. It seemed like I might have gotten them when the first basket had run low? I wasn’t in the mood for a beer — choices were Peroni or Budweiser — so I asked for a large glass of tap water. I got a «low ball» glass that wasn’t refilled. All told, a decent eating experience and I would return. But was it «Ultimate»? Not quite.

I’ll be honest, I stepped into Ultimate Burger hoping to step out with a negative review in mind. For some reason, I’ve found myself frequenting American-style burger joints in London, and it’s gotten to the point where I’ve started rooting for the little guy as opposed to the chains. For a stateside equivalent, I saw Ultimate as a Red Robin, and while Red Robin makes some great burgers, I’d much prefer a local place. Off the bat it was a mixed bag. While the selection was impressive in terms of breadth and uniqueness and the prices reasonable, service was quite slow even though it wasn’t overly crowded. However, when the food arrived all notions of a negative review went right out the window. Primarily, my Smokey Mountain Barbeque Burger was absolutely massive, and I soon realized(as had those around me) that at Ultimate Burger a fork and knife are key. The ingredients used appeared as though they were quite fresh and the burger was cooked just right. One thing I will say is that the burger itself wasn’t overly flavourful, but the various compliments made it enjoyable. Additionally, while only a coin over a pound each, my sides of chips and chili con carne were a bit on the mediocre end of the scale. All in all, I stepped out of Ultimate Burger having eaten an absolutely massive burger, two sides, and 500ml of bottled water for under £15, and while it doesn’t come close to South Kensington’s Byron, who still wear the crown of Best Burger in London, Ultimate was a good experience. So if you’re in the area and absolutely must have a burger, Ultimate Burger is a great value and a good experience. However, the strip of Tottenham Court Road surrounding the Warren Street Station is packed with amazing dining options of all cuisine’s, so strongly consider those before resorting to a chain.

Nice, convenient place to grab a quick burger. They actually put some thought into the veggie(mushroom) burger, which I enjoyed on more than one occasion when I lived in London. Simple décor, although a little overpriced — given the location, that’s almost to be expected.

Hmm, I’ve gone here twice. It’s never failed. Each time I said out loud, «Wow, these chips are really good». And there you have it. This place(or the chain in general) has really tasty, well-cooked chips!

I have been here a few times, and I have not been disappointed. The food has been fresh and the service friendly.

What’s the difference between Ultimate Burger and GBK? Nothing now that I’ve tried both of them. In my mind they are almost identical: menu organised by type of meat, overly ambitious recipes that sound interesting but generally fail, ordering at the counter but served at the table so that you don’t feel quite so bad about shelling out close to a tenner for lunch. I ordered the Moroccan lamb burger and aside from a slather of what they called hummous, I failed to taste any hints of Marrakesh. My friend ordered the portobello burger which sounded good in theory, but turned out to be a smallish mushroom slathered in bbq sauce, topped with two onion rings. Weird and gross. Take a pass on this one.

I’d rather go to GBK, to be honest. It’s not bad here… unlike the others who complained below, I thought my portion was ridiculously huge. The topping were fine and plentiful, but really just slapped onto the bun without a lot of effort. The chips were expensive for what you got… and a bit cold, truthfully. God bless the dear sweet waitresses for doing their job and trying to clear my plate before I’d finished eating… I know you’re just doing your part to keep the people moving through. But, really, I’ve got half a portion of chips and a quarter of a burger on the plate, my hands are actually in the bowl fishing a chip out for my enjoyment and they tried to take the plate away. Even still, it’s relatively fast, very clean, the people aren’t rude, you get a crap-ton of food, and it’s nearly a stone’s throw away from the British Museum. Could be better, could be worse. Not necessarily a destination location for me, but if someone else wanted to go, I’d be up for going with them.(No, that’s not a hint)(Okay, maybe a little)

I went here because it was close to the hotel I was staying at and I was craving a delicious burger. I was intrigued by the fact that they had chicken burgers on the menu. I ordered a chicken and bacon burger which also includes Monterey Jack cheese. The combination seemed killer, so I was certain it’d be delicious – and it was. However, I was rather disappointed that the burger wasn’t a burger at all. It was just a slab of chicken breast on a bun, not the ground chicken breast patty as promised on the menu. Despite my initial disappointment, the sandwich was rather tasty, but I think it would have been better if it would have been an actual burger.

A good place to stop at. Big burger and lots of fries.

If this is the Ultimate burger, I’d hate to try a bad one. Actually, that’s not fair: the burger(with proper cheese and okay bacon) was actually satisfactory. It was the bun and the fries and the value that let it down. £13 for soggy, packet fries topped with a grisly chilli and a bun that, rather than absorb the juices and provide a meat-carrying device, rolled over and fell apart at the first sign of trouble. There are many words you want to spring to mind at the end of a meal, and soggy isn’t one of them.

You can do so much better than what they serve at this place. Part of a chain, this location is convenient if you stumble out of a pub early enough and feel like, what passes for a burger here. Unfortunately a rubbery patty, soggy fries isn’t the best meal ever but it does a certain job of soaking up alcohol. Of course, its only redeeming factor is that you can continue to drink with beers(bottled) a reasonable £2.90. As far as chain restaurants go, I’d definitely recommend any of the Gourment Burger Kitchen locations over this. Better yet, go to any of the nicer places around the area for a decent meal

I was really excited when this place first opened… I was sorely disappointed. Maybe I have really high expectations for burgers but this place was not«ultimate» at all. The chips were horrible and portions were small. My husband’s chili burger was so gross and inedible. We would have been better off going up to Holborn to Don Quixote’s for sandwiches. A couple weeks after our experience here, we walked by and this guy sitting by the window had that same«WTH is this crap?» expression that we’d had. LOL

Wow, this place can get busy. Specialising obviously on burgers they offer a wide range with as many toppings you arteries can take. I had the burger with cheese and bacon last time and some chips. The burger was good, though I’d never say it was the ultimate burger, but much better than a Burger King or McD’s! The chips were average and the portion was quite small, even compared to their other establishments, so maybe it was a one off! Being in the business heavy area of Warren Street means that lunchtimes here are very crowded. i wouldn’t come here for an evening meal though I’m sure it’s okay for those working late who want to grab and go.

What better place to go to for a big fat burger than… Ultimate Burger! This place prides itself on being a specialist burger joint and it’s very tasty indeed. You can do a casual lunch here, that’s probably best actually and there are veggie burgers on the menu. The day I went, I had a Portobello mushroom burger with salsa and chips. The veggie option was pretty good actually and the portions were really huge too, so great value for money. Ultimate Burger is really inexpensive and I didn’t have any complaints. If you’re brave, try the huge American style milk shakes!
