This review is also on Trip Advisor. I was trying to find a hotel in London for four nights that wouldn’t bust my budget and kept coming back to Vancouver Studios in my search. While it wasn’t the cheapest it was better reviewed and in a great location. I was very happy with my selection. I reserved a small single room and that is what I got. It was up on the top floor and, and they note on their webpage, there was no lift. However, they do have a self serve laundry so I was able to lighten my load down in the basement before hauling my suitcase up to the room. The room was perfectly sized for one person with a small kitchenette, a table with one chair, a single bed, a tiny shower, a small toilet room, and little closet with a fan and safe tucked inside. The room was serviced once a day with biscuits being left each day and the coffee/tea being refreshed as needed. There was also an electric kettle to use and a microwave for heating things up. Just make sure to bring your earplugs because the walls are thin and I had an opera singer waking me up in the mornings. There’s also a single pane of glass in the window so if you’re facing the street it can get a bit noisy at night. The location was close to both Bayswater and Queensway stations and many bus stops. It’s also a short walk to Hyde Park everything in there. Of course Zeus made me feel a little less sad about leaving my kitties by climbing in my lap and purring away in the courtyard. He also followed me inside but was quickly shooed out by the person on reception. All in all I had a great stay and would recommend Vancouver Studios.

Vancouver Studios really felt like home! I stayed here for three weeks upon moving to London and looking for a flat, and it really became my little home. I stayed in two rooms and both had all the amenities you could need as a transient — kitchenette, dish and cookware, laundry, luggage holding, etc. The décor was not 5-star, but hey, neither is my décor at home, so it kind of lent to the homey, or as the Brits say, homely, feel of the place. Look for the the miniature suit of armor and carefully placed riding boots! The daily cleaning service was wonderful — even did our dishes, which we didn’t expect — and left us wonderful little cookies everyday. The reception at the front desk was also great — took care of a few little glitches no problem, and was some of the best customer service I’ve experienced in London yet. The neighborhood is fine, though fairly touristy. Grocery store is a five minute walk, and Bayswater and Queensway stations are also just a short jaunt away. It’s perfect for getting around to Central London. The only reason I don’t give it five stars is because both of our rooms were facing onto the garden, which normally would have been great, but the garden also happens to be where people take their smoke breaks. Every hour or so we would need to close our window to keep out the smoke-y smell. Overall, great place that will leave a positive impression and not too big a dent in your wallet.

Located in a Victorian townhouse, Vancouver Studios is probably one of the best bangs for your buck in all of central London. A real gem. This is a charming hotel with small rooms and apartments, all with some sort of kitchenette. Our rooms(we stayed in two) had little balconies that would have been amazing to sit on in nice weather. Unfortunately London in November isn’t exactly balcony weather. The rooms were tastefully designed, each with individual accents. The shower was tiny but had nice pressure and fittings. The kitchenette included two burners, an electric tea pot, a microwave and a fridge. There were also plates and cooking stuff in case you wanted to eat in. Tea, instant coffee and chocolate, as well as biscuits, were provided every day. For £5 they would deliver a continental breakfast to your room, but I never tried this, having found a lovely Spanish breakfast/coffee place nearby. The bed was soft but comfy, and the room was toasty warm once you turned on the heat. There are no lifts so be prepared to take your luggage upstairs. The staff were EXTREMELY friendly and accommodating, and the price was amazing for London. There were two nearby tube stations, Queensway and Bayswater, and plenty of shops, restaurants and grocery stores nearby. We walked to Notting Hill and Portobello Road markets in 15 minutes or so. Hyde Park is within a 5 minute walk. It was a £12 taxi ride, or a 20 minute walk to Paddington Station. We reached Heathrow in 35 minutes using the Taxi & Paddington Express. I will be returning next year.
