If you like musical… London is definitely your city! Many theaters in London and many musical shows are playing. Here is like Broadway in NY. All these theaters are historic buildings. It is definitely a treat to see a show while you are visiting London. I love the culture here that people enjoying theaters.

Saw Billy Elliot here and was very pleased. My wife and I got tickets last minute and our seats weren’t the best(we could almost touch the ceiling), but we still had a great view. There was part of the back of the stage that was out of view for us, but everything else looked great. The seats are old, but comfortable and the sounds was very good. The theatre is also beautiful. If you get to see a show here you’ll enjoy yourself for sure.

I’m opening with the fact that I have only really seen musicals in the United States(New York & Los Angeles) and here when you see a Broadway show or something of that level they are often in large theaters were the show is a huge spectacle and the venues are an extension of that for that reason I may have had very high expectations. The theater was really small and I can see how that would be a more intimate experience only we got tickets on the balcony and the seats were TINY. I’m at an average height and i was uncomfortable. My husband is a taller man and he was very uncomfortable. There was no leg room and i felt my knees were in the back of the row in front of us. Even the front row of the balcony was tight against the railing. It is almost impossible to let people by without everyone getting out of the row. Also being at that height was distracting as the I was able to see behind the stage flats and see the stage crew and actors when they were waiting to go on stage and just hanging out. It really took me out of enjoying the show. The show itself was great. The actors were great. The two boys, the one playing Billy and his male friend were outstanding. When I was able to forget amount the discomfort of my seat and the distraction of backstage I was able to enjoy the emotion of the story being told. So my recommendation is see this show but get seats on the orchestra level. If you are especially tall make sure to get an aisle seat so you can stretch your legs if needed and if you are not a fan of stairs DEFINITELY don’t do the balcony as it’s steep and makes even people in decent shape winded.

Oh, what a lovely theater. Just outside Victoria Station you will find this place that, for as long as I know, is showing Billy Elliot. If I were to write a review about the musical, it would be a 5-star for sure, but we are here to talk about the place aren’t we? If you consider that in this location was built«the oldest music hall in London» you can only imagine what I’m talking about, but in fact this place has been demolished, rebuild, remodeled some many times, that it doesn’t reassemble it. Currently, the auditorium holds over 1500 seats and is fully air-conditioned. You can grab a drink from the bar and even carry it with you inside the theater. The chairs look old but they are quite comfortable. The only problem I found was the distance between the rows, could be a little bigger and if you are taller than 1,80m you might have a very unpleasant few hours.

I had the wonderful privilege of watching Billy Elliot at the Victoria Palace Theatre. I could go on for days about how incredible the show was(the set! the lights! the choreography!), but then I wouldn’t be giving a true review of the venue. The theatre itself is going through some construction which was evident by the numerous chain linked fences right outside. A little bit of an eye sore, but as with any construction project, things will be unpleasant before they get better. Regardless, the theatre itself is very charming. There’s a small foyer to buy show souvenirs and snacks, and the ushers were so polite and helpful. Our seats were on the upper level, second row, along the middle aisle. We were able to see the entire stage without any obstructions(tall people included). The seating was angled enough where it didn’t seem like there was a bad seat in the house. The interesting thing I’ve noticed about theatres in London versus theatres in LA is that you are allowed to eat and drink whatever you want inside the theatres in London. The group in front of us were pretty much laying out a picnic of food to enjoy during the show. That seemed very odd to me since any kind of food or beverage is strictly prohibited in theatres around LA. Side note: feel free to bring all the snacks you want while watching the show. That is definitley not frowned upon here :)

I love this theater. It is beautiful from the outside, like a castle looking theater. Watched Billy Elliott here, and it was an awesome show! The price is also reasonable because you can get quite a good discount when you buy last minute ticket or student discounts. Nearby, there are lots of easy transportation such as bus or trains to get to this place. There are also many eateries. Keep in mind though that shows in UK start at 7:30PMONTIME. So make sure you eat before you come or risk eating after 10:30PM. Enjoy!

Wow! I didn’t have high expectations for this musical, but I was blown away from the magnitude of this performance. Located at the Victoria palace theater(not to be confused with the palace theater which is in an entirely different part of town), Billy Elliot tells the story of a young lad who has an affinity to ballet. His dad, who works as a coal miner does not embrace his son’s passion. The cast was amazing, the young boy who plays Billy Elliot is phenomenal and destined for great things, and the small intimate theater is classic. Do yourself a favor and take in this musical, with the story line based in England and you’ll definitely have a night to remember.

Been around in it’s current guise for the last 100 years or so. Neatly located just down the street from the Victoria Station underground. Small by Broadway standards, the feeling here is one of shop-worn red velvet and faded gold leaf, with an appropriate coat-of-arms scattered about, here and there. Comfy/intimate seats in the stall sections. Steep access to the dress and grand circles. Saw Billy Elliot which I’d also give a 4 star rating. It’s been playing there for several years and they do a fine(but not spectacular) job.

Britain’s heyday was in its empire days when the sun never set on the British Empire. The name of this theatre harkens back to those days when Victoria sat on the throne. It was re-opened after its latest re-build and re-naming in 1910 by owner Alfred Butt with the grey marble foyer with gold mosaic and Sicilian marble pillars looking much as it did in those days. The theatre cupola was topped with a gold-leafed figure of ballerina Anna Pavlova(yes, she of the meringue Pavlova fame), the original of which disappeared after it was taken down in 1939 during the Blitz for safety reasons. A replica of the figure was restored in 2006. These days, the 1550 seated theatre retains a air of historic grandeur but like the British Empire, it feels a little like faded grandeur. Currently hosting a great production of Billy Elliott, the energy on stage does transmit itself well to its slightly smaller auditorium with steep raking giving good sightlines to the audience. However, the seats are a little cramped, even for a smaller sized Malaysian as myself and the toilets aren’t the largest you’re going to find. However, they were adequate for the size of audience. Some ofthe signposting could also be clearer inside the theatre With Victoria station a short stroll away and lots of restaurants nearby, this is a nice theatre

This is a nice theater. And it’s conveniently located near the Victoria train station, and plenty of places to eat. Came here to watch Billy Elliot, and I loved it. I loved the set, the actors, and the whole show in general. The staff was very good about taking care of those people playing with their mobile devices, taking photos during the show, and talking. I had a great time and would love to see another show here again.

Londoners: It’s easy to forget that we live in London and that people travel from all over the world to enjoy the fabulousness we are surrounded by everyday. Maybe this fact isn’t as hard to forget on Camden High Street on a Saturday or if you’re anywhere in the vicinity of Portobello Market, but if you’re not regularly completing one of these weekend suicide missions, than I reckon you agree. Don’t.(I mean, don’t forget… not don’t agree.) Anyway, don’t forget. Here’s one way not to: 1. Head down to Victoria station around 10am. 2. Look for the jumping boy thrusting in your general direction.(Make sure this boy is on a billboard and NOT a lost tourist who has wandered off from Buckingham Palace.) Follow this jumping boy to the box office. 3. Pick up some same-day tickets from Victoria Palace Theatre for £29. 4. Come back at 7:30pm 5. Enjoy the performance 6. Grab a post-show pint and revel in the fact that you. live. here. — — — - Short version: Billy Elliot is awesome.

We go and see a lot of musicals. This was one of the best I’ve seen. Yes it’s long, but it held our attention throughouth. It’s very english humour. The staging was super clever and all the actors and dancers brilliant. We loved it but I’d watch the film with your children first if you would like to take them. Go and see it.

Saw Billy Elliot the musical here. Great Theater as it was near the Victoria Underground. Small theater in size, but if you are in the stalls seating area, all the seats are good. We had the side, partial blocked seats in the stalls, and we could still see the entire show.

S. Kathryn’s review was spot on. Nice intimate theater, but be very careful getting to your seats as it is very steep and I saw a number of folks walking gingerly to their seats. The theater was accomodating for one group and even put them into new seats due to their concerns. I purchased a single balcony seat from the Half Price Theater Ticket vendor in Leicester Square for 50GBP the day of the show. The role of Grandma was well played and hilarious, and while Billy was great, the plum role was the actor playing his friend Michael. The ensemble pieces were all fun especially Merry Christmas, Mrs. Thatcher and the little dancers are a hoot.

The Victoria Palace theater, located directly across from Victoria Station has been hosting shows since 1911. This is a beautifully restored theater– with 3 levels of seats upholstered in rich burgundy velvet and the gilded walls depicting another time and era. There are private box seats along each side with velvet curtains for privacy(I bet those walls could tell some tales!) The theater seats 1500 people and from what I could see– there wasn’t a bad seat in the house! The theater was designed with a unique sliding roof that opened to allow for ventilation of smoke(back in the day). Today, in addition to a great theater with good sound and eye sight there are several bars where you can pre-order your intermission drinks(a good idea as the intermission is only 15 minutes) and on site purchased drinks and food are allowed in the theater. At the time of this writing, Billy Elliot is playing at the theater. An easy way to get tickets cheaply is to go to the half priced ticket booth at Leicester Square on the day of the show and gamble on what is available. I love the theater. And it’s even better when it can be enjoyed in a house like the Victoria Palace theater that has seen so many amazing productions in its history!

Went here tonight with my family to see Billy Elliot with my parents which was absolutely fabulous. The theatre is cute and small and the cast and ensemble were fantastic. We got the tickets at TKTS and though they weren’t on sale they were really nice seats and only ended up costing the three of us about 100 quid. The main character Billy was great. He had a great voice and was a really good tap dancer(though being a former dancer myself I made the observation that he was a better tap dancer then ballet which was really what he was suppose to be doing in the play). That being said he was still fantastic and I really enjoyed it. A word of advice: Catch dinner at one of the cute pubs close by or go to the Pizza Kitchen and get a cheap nosh. Then after the musical go out for dessert or a beer. ANDWATCHYOURSELFONTHESTAIRS(in the theatre, my Mum nearly killed me tripping on them…)

Not only is the musical my favourite so far, but also do I like to make my way down to Victoria! It is a nice place to celebrate a birthday. Billy Elliot is jumping towards you in the limelight stuck on a bill board when entering the Victoria Palace Theatre. The quality of the musical is outstanding. Not only are the costumes and singing terrific, but the musical fuses modern dance with classic ballet. Most significant I found the young boy, who played the star role, extremely talented. He deserved all the standing applause he got over and over again every night. How do all these young children who act and perform there every night go to school the next morning? This is also the musical I cried the first time. When the mother sang her song… I had to get myself a big glass of red wine in the break to get over my emotional outburst. After the musical we walked past Buckingham Palace towards St. James Park, which’s alley still was open ending up having dinner around Green Park. This was a fantastic night of Showtime in London!

The theatre is somewhat small but the stage makes up for it with some great scene changes, between Billy’s house, the dance studio, and the streets. The original film was set in Northern England, in a grey, sparse town, and the nicest part of the play is the vibrant colour. And with all the production’s songs written by Elton John, and a convoy of little girls in tutus and miners in their work coats, the outcome is a colourful display of fun with a dash of history and a pinch of seriousness. Not really a play for little kids as there is a bit of swearing in it.
