Not what I expected from a First Class lounge! To be totally honest with you, I didn’t even need to go to this lounge as I didn’t have too long to wait for my train. I just wanted to see how the other half live in the travelling world(and wondered if I would spot any celebrities) It’s on the upper floor of Euston Station, which is being rebuilt so it doesn’t look to great and it isn’t too clear where the lounge is. You’d be forgiven for thinking it isn’t actually there. Upon arrival you have to show your ticket to the lady at the desk, who will then let you in. Upon entering I just felt a little bit ‘meh’. It just seemed a little grubby inside. Nice little extras like free tea and coffee, juice and fizzy drinks, but I just felt like the whole place could do with a really good clean. If I was a regular first class traveller I’d be expecting more. Someone get a feather duster around the place!

It is quite small with some unusual seating but you can’t complain as it’s including with the price of your ticket whereas on east coast you have to pay to get in. There is a selection of hot drinks usually some cakes and fruit to nibble on as well as mini vans of pop. There is a fully licensed bar too which have to pay for but it’s much cheaper than what you’d normally pay elsewhere. There is good seating of tables and booth style chairs and then the weird booth style individual seats, not sure why you’d want to sit there they are by themselves facing out — strange! My favourite things are there is free wifi, charging points and fizzy water on tap. They could do with making the departure boards more prominent so make sure you don’t miss your train.

The Virgin First Class Lounge is a good spot to while away an hour waiting for the train in the madness that is Euston Station. There are plenty of hot and cold complimentary drinks available as well as snacks such as biscuits, crisps, nuts and fruit. On this particular visit there wasn’t much food that took my fancy, no sandwiches, so I just went with a bag of crisps and a coke and settled down to watch the news on the big screen tv. There are live departures boards in the lounge, a lift for those who cannot manage the stairs and free wifi. I found the low chairs quite uncomfortable but I couldn’t swap as the place was rammed. Free newspapers are available at the reception desk on the way in where you show your ticket to get access. Charging up phones and devices is a real pain in the lounge. What few plug sockets they once had seem to have mostly disappeared. There are plenty in the ‘business’ part alongside tables and terminals but once again it was full of fellow passengers. It wasn’t a huge deal as I was able to recharge on the train having booked a seat with a plug socket, but if there had been any major delays I would have been without charge in my phone. When you know these things you can try and be prepared, Not my favourite Virgin Lounge, but it serves a purpose, and when there are delays its good to have a spot where you can sit down and relax a wee while.

Well, this might not be the luxury product you might expect, but at Euston Station it’s a haven away from the maddening crowds. Providing you can find a seat, you can get a drink and a biscuit, and/or a piece of fruit. It serves it’s purpose well enough and gives you that breathing space needed after fighting your way by underground. Free wifi exists, which really works. The staff are both friendly and interactive and that means a huge amount. Thumbs up from me!

This is first class? In the Virgin Lounge at London Euston Station. Lounge access is included in First Class tickets. I certainly wouldn’t upgrade a ticket just to get lounge access. The lounge is disappointing compared to other Virgin travel lounges we’ve used. Despite being renovated less than a year ago. It is crowded, loud, there are limited snacks, etc. Traveling on a Sunday late afternoon /evening.
