It’s a Waitrose, so there’s that! Actually quite handy to have at the end of the mall, but if you’re coming from the Canary Wharf area it’s hard not to feel underwhelmed… I think that holds true for any Waitrose after that particular branch however, unfortunately it’s the one I started at so all others seem a tad small by comparison. Above said if you’re in this area you could certainly do worse… they carry all of the basics, have a seafood counter, olive bar, etc., and despite the image they really aren’t that more expensive than he other big players… I tend to find that the Taste the Difference or Finer ranges cost as much as the offerings here, so if you lean towards those ranges definitely give it a look. They have a scan as you go system in place here now for those that are registered, and a number of self checkouts that always seem less busy than the other lines… I assume smokes play a part in this, or perhaps people are just suspicious of self checkout, but it remains a mystery. Regardless, even when busy I tend to get out in a decent about of time. If you’re not in the area and travelling to a Waitrose I would look to see how much further the Canary Wharf branch is to be honest, but failing that I’m sure here will have you covered.

This branch of Waitrose is located in the Stratford Westfield shopping centre, it is located towards one of the ends of the shopping centre on the ground floor, at the opposite end to Starbucks, EAT and M and S. This store seems to have everything you would expect from a Waitrose, plus a few more things, such as a small number of Scan as you shop devices, which are a great way to get around the store easier, and also check if you have spent the amount to get a free newspaper, hence avoiding the embarrassment at checkout of having to either put it back, or pay more and get less basically, this is a service provided to loyalty card members. Loyalty Card members can also claim a free drink, with Earl Grey and English Breakfast teabags available, as well as coffee and even soy milk, just ask for a cup at the counter, scan your card and you can do this every day! This store is quite large considering it is a supermarket in a shopping centre and stocks a good range of products, at good prices, which from«expensive», «high end», «posh» Waitrose as most North Mancunians say, it isn’t like that, they had fresh orange juice on offer at 90p, which is cheaper than most places, and can cost £1.95 at Starbucks, Starbucks iced beverages also seem to be cheaper here with their £1.30 charge beating Tesco’s £1.88 The range here seems to be very good for mostly all products, and hence this store helps put up my opinion on Waitrose, with most of the superstores I have seen, such as in Wilmslow, not being very nice, but this store is quite a nice store, with good prices, good offers and good stock too, this store is definitely deserving of 4 stars, as it puts the misconceptions to bed.

I really like Waitrose. I’ve become a busier lately with my job and the thought of cooking meals from scratch when I get home just make me shudder. So thank god for tasty/healthy/easy to cook meals from Waitrose. They have a lot of brands here that are not available at other supermarkets. I particularly like some of the ‘marinated meat and veg throw in a pan add sauce’ packs they have. The layout here is quite good considering it’s in a shopping centre. It’s not massive but it’s never too crowded and the they have fish, meat and cheese counters and a large fresh food area. The wine selection is quite good too and there never seems to be too large a queue at the checkouts… The reason for this I suspect(and this is why they lose their final star) is there is absolutely no discount on parking if you shop at Waitrose and that Westfield parking? It ain’t cheap! Give us a quid off, or two, or three if we stay less than an hour(I’m telling you, Westfield parking is daylight robbery) but give us some incentive for choosing to come here to shop. Or give us free parking at certain times… I don’t mind, really. So if you need to make the car trip to Westfield and are planning on doing some grocery shopping whilst you’re at it then fine, come here. If you’re coming just for the supermarket, then go elsewhere and save yourself a fiver.

Dropped by this grocery store every day that we stayed in London. Convenient and affordable. This particular branch was located inside on the lowest level of the Westfield Stratford City mall. Every morning before heading to the tube(subway), we would stop by here to grab breakfast and buy lunch for later. Their baked goods are quite good and cheap! I actually preferred their doughnuts here over the ones at Krispy Kreme. The sandwiches that we tried for lunch were just mediocre. Good price though. I probably would not give this grocery chain a second though if it was located in my hometown in the U.S. It reminds me of the Fresh N Easy grocery chain in the States. Being in London, though, Waitrose was an awesome find. The prices here seemed so affordable compared to most of London. It was nice to save money and shop here instead of going to overpriced restaurants. Wish I had discovered their Ice Cream section sooner. They so many flavors I wanted to try that were unavailable in the US of A. The top flavor on my wish list that I saw here was the Ben & Jerrys Baked Alaska flavor! If not for the mediocre sandwiches, I’d give Waitrose 5 stars. With that being said, I would not hesitate to shop here if I lived in London. They are a clean store with a friendly staff and affordable priced merchandise. Yay! I’m a fan!
