Whilst not the best place in London it was really good fun. Loads of Aussies, Kiwis and Sth Africans behaving badly on a Sunday afternoon. A huge loss for the Antipodean community in London. Goodbye Walkabout.

I am not Aussie, I am not Kiwi, but I do love this place! If you want to have a fun night out with loads of alcohol, crazy people and surprises then the Walkabout is the right place to go to. Best day is deffo Sunday when all the people from the church come there in their fancy dress, so you already have a laugh. Snake bite is a great drink that brings you in the right mood straight away. I wouldn’t recommend going to the Walkie sober but after a couple of drinks you won’t care about the weird smell and sticky floor and just have fun like never before.

The ever so(in)famous walkabout. Oh the stories i have heard of this place. «After church we went to the walk about, i met a guy, we talked, we made out, we got drinks, we danced… etc». It’s the place to go if you wanna meet the people that are ever so entertaining at the church. It’s the place to go to get some drinks with friends if you’re not done partying at the church. It’s the place to go to keep drinking and get drunk till you wake up the next day at a random’s house wondering… then knowing… the walk about. It’s that kind of a place. Or so i assumed based on my friends who had previously gone there in the past but i must say: I’m being too harsh. It’s really not all that terrible. It’s quite a nice venue, with a stage, dance floor, upstairs, down stairs, middle stairs. etc. Go here have a pint, chill with some pals, do a lil jig, listen to some music and have some fun. it’s A-ok :]

I’ve heard many things about Walkabouts and rarely have they been positive. I went to the Shepherd’s Bush(or SheBu as the Aussies say apparently) Walkabout for the QLD fundraiser and I have to say it was pretty good. The drinks are cheap, the service quick, the place spacious, and the live music suitably hilarious and the right stuff to belt out at the top of your lungs. Other than that, what can one say? It’s a step up from a frat house and it has no pretensions. Go there for a wild dirty night out with no responsibilities and likely no memory of it come morning!

Two stars? Honestly, you know what you are in for when you walk into the Walkabout; if you want a nice evening, go eat at the Savoy. This place is a solid 3, if you go in with the right, low expectations. It’s cheap, crass, and crawling with Aussies and Kiwis. However, they do karaōke with a live band every once and again, which is an absolute blast. Admittedly, it does wreak of vomit when you leave, and I would never wear open-toed shoes here without expecting to contract a staff infection. My advice for having a great, worry-free time here is all too obvious: — Drink before hand. — Have no intentions of meeting anyone interesting. — Go with a large group. — Anticipate making poor decisions. — Bring cash. — Don’t bring a coat. — Wear a latex body suit. Also, if I remember correctly, Wednesdays are student, pound-drink nights or some such…

Ein typischer Aussie Club in Sheperds Bush. Da tut sich immer was, nicht ganz in der City gelegen, aber eine Taxifahrt wert.

I don’t normally drink at 8.30am on a Sunday, but this was about the only place I could find in West London showing Australia v England in the Rugby League World Cup. The place was fairly busy, with loads of people there having a full breakfast(which looked pretty good) and a few stragglers who looked like they hadn’t been home from Saturday night. £3.25 pint is about right for the area and I have to say, they have the biggest BIG Screen I have ever seen in a London pub. All in all, the crowd were very friendly(Australia hammering England probably helped) and althoug I wouldn’t make this a regular haunt, I will be going back to watch Super Leage when it starts again in February.
