This Wasabi is awesome when you had a less than perfect day at work, on your way to a dreary tube ride(and home) and have absolutely NOTHING to eat for dinner. They have amazing comfort food combos such as teriyaki and sweet and sour chicken in the same bowl, which earns their place right next to Ben&Jerry’s Karamel Sutra on my guilty pleasures list. They also have sushi pieces(1 or 2) for sale that can be treated as quick and healthy snacks.

I wonder whether its worth writing reviews for chain restaurants but hey surely someone might find this useful. I think this was one of the first wasabi restaurants that opened hence it’s super small, no room to eat — barely enough to move around and grab what you want. It’s a great quick lunch spot and when the weather is nice, grab something and head over to Victoria Embankment Gardens to sit on the grass or find some space on the benches. There are a variety of selections between the hot rice/noodle dishes and the cold sushi selection. I usually like getting the sushi variety set or the spicy chicken. If you like edamame, get it from here as it’s only a pound compared to itsu which charges double the price. Also, the miso soup is about a pound as well so if you have a relatively light lunch that you want to slightly supplement, definitely go for one of those items or the rice/seaweed triangles.

Tastes delicious and fresh. Good selection, just wish they had brown rice. Price is good also.

Wasabi is very nice. I finally got a chance to go there. Picked up some sushi and a dorayaki(bean cake) for dessert, and took it over to the South Bank to eat outside..

I love wasabi. Luckily for me, there is one next door to my work, although I limit myself to how often I go there, otherwise my bank balance would HATE me. That’s not too say that it’s unreasonably priced, actually, for sushi I would say that it was very fairly priced. Eating sushi for lunch every day is not yet a luxury that I can afford. Plus I’m scared of the mercury poisoning! For lunch I like the katsu salad, which is delicious and extremely filling. I also like the sushi and sashimi sets. The pick and mix sushi is such a good idea and something I partake in from time to time. Having to individually unwrap your pieces of sushi can be really time consuming and frustrating, especially if you’re as impatient as me. A couple of times, my boyfriend & I have grabbed wasabi for dinner. I’ve had the tofu yakisoba every time. It’s actually delicious, very large and filling and a very reasonable £4.95!

Rice was vastly under cooked(al dende should not be a term used within Japanese food, even if it is fast food) and the fish tasted a bit off. All in all not a great start when you serve rice and fish. Staff were friendly and quick in checking you out, but the food was pretty terrible. Really hoping this is a one off.

Decent picnic food near Embankment Tube and the Victoria Embankment Gardens. Not much seating nearby, but there is in the Garden. A couple coolers of sushi — you can pick your own from the selection or choose one of the preset ones. I went with the Hoso Combo box, which included three big pieces of salmon sashimi, three sushi and some salmon mixed with lettuce and edamame. The box includes(very hot!) wasabi, soy sauce and ginger, but you’ll want to make sure to grab some chopsticks before you go. The also have a hot bar with bits of chicken or tofu with varied types of goop. If you’re needing a mega-dose of sodium, give it a try. ;-) Like many places, your healthiness depends on your choices.

Wasabi caters superbly for the fast munching lunch crowd. If you want something hot, served to you quickly with minimum fuss, then this place is for you. In regards to value, first weigh up the qualities of Wasabi. It is fast food takeaway(you cannot eat there), that in its sizes of medium and large gives you the feeling of having devoured a meal. This is no Hakkasan, but for £4.45 or £5.45 for a large portion of rice with meat, or a bucket of noodles, the highly paid workers in the area understandably queue right out the door for this reasonably tasty Asian goodness. For those wanting something a little lighter, they have pre-packed sushi boxes on offer too. This place is all about getting something good when you only have 20mins to spare. If you have a full lunch hour, maybe treat yourself to a full sit down treat elsewhere

I am a big fan of Japanese food and having tried some of the good quality Japanese restaurants in London, I can honestly say Wasabi is far from good quality. Their sushi is average and their hot food is definitely a disappointment. It is too salty and tastes like chinese takeaways. I don’t think the prices are particularly cheap either for a take-out place. If I’m in a hurry, I would just go to MaDonalds. If I want to have Japanese food, I will wait till I have the time to go to a proper Japanese restaurant.

I would like to kiss the person who pointed me in the direction of Wasabi. I’d been banging on about the delicious rice cake thingemmies I practically lived on during a trip to Tokyo last year and bemoaning the fact that I hadn’t found them in London yet, when this lovely girl pointed out of the window(we were in a café on Villers Street at the time) to a place just a few doors down. Try the seaweed onigiri she said with a smile. And try I did! Not only was the onigiri just as I remembered it tasting in Japan but unlike Tokyo there were loads of vegan sushi options to choose from too. As I loaded up my cardboard box with healthy treats I grew nervous of the cost but was pleasantly surprised to pay no more than a fiver for quite a lot of stuff. And I didn’t even see the bento options! Having written this review it’s become clear that another trip to Wasabi is long overdue. What wouldn’t I give for some avocado hosomaki right now

When I used to work for the devil in Waterloo I used to wander over the bridge to check out some new places to have lunch and one day I came across Wasabi a green clinical but inviting shop filled with all sorts of sushi and a variety of hot meals by the counter. What I like about Wasabi is the fact that you can buy individual pieces of sushi and make up your own box so to speak and if you just fancy a sushi hit when you don’t have much cash then it’s OK to just buy one piece. I have tried the tofu curry which is delicious. Unfortunately there is no place to sit down so it’s a take back to the office(oh no) or sit in the lovely park near by(oh yes, when the sun is out)

Great for grabbing your favourite custom made bento lunch! Like all wasabi branches you buy sushi by the piece and make up your own take away box. I was there today and they’ve now replaced the plastic boxes with cardboard ones — very ecologically friendly but harder to handle as they’re flimsy and bendy. I love the onagi triangles — the salmon one in particular — a bargain at £1 each. The handrolls are always a bit dry so I wouldn’t bother. Good cheap sushi — lovely to eat it in the Embankment Gardens.
