I work nearby, and it’s perfect for after work drinks. Staff are great, and beer selection is OK, good enough for our needs. Food isn’t spectacular but it’s fine if you’re starving and have to make do.

Given this pub is directly opposite my office, I do have a soft spot for this place but I do think this is deservedly so. This feels like a real traditional pub, not because of the décor but because of the welcome atmosphere that it continues to show us all. The staff are more than excellent, really make you feel welcome and after a few times of going in, they knew us by name. Quite a large amount of hours have been dedicated to drinking here and too right, given the good selection of beer, wine, cider and spirits. On Friday’s the pub does get quite busy, but I’ve never struggled to find room inside or out. People actually spill out on the street at weekends and it’s quite cool just having a few in the street after a hard week. Another thing the staff do well is a few freebies every now and then, it does go a long way. Food comes out most Fridays and there’s plenty of it.(There also may have been a few free round of Jäger at times). Seriously though, this place is great and should be the go-to if your in the area. Also a real nice place to bring out of town friends to give them a sense of a London drink. I’ll be the guy at the back with the free food in front of him.

Very poor beer selection here. Now that London has discovered good beer, you really can’t get away with just serving the usual mainstream lagers and a dull English cask ale. Not even anything interesting in bottles.

5 Stars for the best fish and chips we had in all of London! My friend from home home lives down the block and this is his go to pub. He told us to meet him there at 6PM and when we arrived it was already packed. We got a cozy table right by the fireplace, the bartenders filled our glasses of wine almost up to the brim, and they gave us the Wifi password. White Bear is as good as it gets!

Any pub that I review while sitting at the pub is going to get a good rating. Came in at 8pm on Valentine’s Day evening and needed to log on to do some work. The bartender gave me the WiFi password straight away(was«thewhitebear1» in case you’re in here soon). The have Sky Sports so you can watch the football here as well. I didn’t have any food so no idea what it tastes like. Decent selection of beers as well.

Admittedly, I was skeptical coming into the White Bear. The pub was empty and nothing about the place — including the slight smell of stale beer — hinted that the food would be any good. Still I soldiered on, telling myself that trying something new would be an adventure! Imagine my delight(and mild dismay) when a gorgeous plate of lightly battered fish and chips arrived alongside a jacket potato topped generously with cheese and spicy chili. I dug in to discover that whatever’s going on in the kitchen here is really right. And with the tariff £12 for us both, certainly good value too. The White Bear reminded me today not to judge a book by its cover, or in this case, a pub by its funk or lack of patrons.

Good cocktails and drinks, not overly impressed by the food though. Nice venue for a birthday party, especially the upstairs room.
