Whites

I loved this place! I was looking for a hair salon in the Moorgate area as I had only been to Rush before and was not too satisfied with the cut I had gotten. I found Whites on Unilocal and decided to give it a try, and I’m very happy I did. Dottie gave me a women’s cut and she was lovely and extremely efficient; she listened to all of my hair concerns and gave me a lot of options and ideas. She gave me a wonderful cut and tips on air drying it, which I did today and am super pleased with the result.
Highly recommended and I will be back again!

Omg. This place is the perfect storm. I went in for a women’s haircut, and I walked out with the BEST haircut in my life! Seriously I’ve spent years trying to get someone to cut my hair with bouncy long layers and face framing pieces. I showed Dottie a few pictures of the blogger I follow who has that cut and she totally got it. She made sure that I was comfortable with the length in all areas and was so sweet and easy to talk to. The woman who washed my hair was so sweet and funny too! Love this place and so glad I found a spot in London that isn’t ridiculously priced. I paid £50 plus a tip and it was worth every penny! Definitely my go-​to. Only took a little over an hour for the entire process! Seriously wow. Thank you!

I was thinking about a big change for a long while. I am so glad it happened there!
But to start from the beginning…
Few weeks ago, while I was hairdressers-​moaning, a friend of mine recommended me this salon. Apparently, I MUST go to see Dani. Brazilian girl, who’s been working and developing at Whites since the very first day.
So I booked in, all nervous cause hair cutting is a big deal for me (ladies surely understand) and anxious cause bad hairdressers are on every corner.
This low budget looking hair salon welcomes you really in real friendly manner. Head massage, coffee and refreshments. Yes, please! Dani understood what I want and need immediately, cut my hair into long layers, which really do seem to work, used real minimum of styling products, and explained how to make the hair style with absolute minimal effort. BINGO!
Then, the final bill came to £45. Perfect! I left the salon happy as a clam, already thinking about paying another visit…

I am a girl with a boys hair cut, it’s a hard look to pull off but I think I do it with a level of skill. I came back and saw Kate (not Kay — I must have miss-​heard) yesterday. We chatted about hair and old people skin and the fact that dating older men can be both gross and sometimes fun. It was like catching up with a friend.
My hair however is fabulous. Not what I was expecting but it makes my head look great. They have a teenage hair washer now who looks like she’s straight out of Essex — in the bad way not the good way. This filled me with fear. I needn’t worry, same great quality and service.

I have migrated between many of London’s trendier hairdressers over time. At the beginning of hair there was Fish, then Tommy Guns, then a pop up place on Lambs Conduit Street and finally Taylor Taylor.
Then, desperate for a last minute hair cut I went to the place nearest to my flat — Whites. I have not gone anyone else since. A great cubby hole of a hairdresser with a bunch of excellent hairdressers. I always think it is slightly strange to review hairdressing saloons as it depends on who is cutting your hair not where you get it cut. However, Mark (who does mine) is great and affable the place itself is central and has a nice vibe.
Go (but don’t take the evening appointments as I want those)
