Nice, quaint pub with friendly local patrons. Just had a couple of pints and on our way for other destinations. We’ll be back!

Tired of paying for overpriced pints, looking for a friendly, local crowd, we stumbled into Windsor Castle. Fortunately, having already visited the actual Windsor Castle Castle, we were asked what kind of drink we would like, not how would we be paying and if we wanted the audio tour. No frills and full of dogs and friendly locals, Windsor Castle is a bit of a pain in the arse to find but well worth the hunt. If you’re wondering, it’s front façade is now blue, instead of red, which had us a bit confused as we were searching by the Unilocal photos. It’s fairly priced and our bartender sat with us, helped us look up train tickets and prices out of the city and engaged in an entertaining conversation about America(and Texas). Quiet, unassuming, older crowd that is perfect for conversation — try and keep up! — and exactly what we were looking for. Totally worth a stop if you’re done with the touristy pubs.

This was a great little place. Super low key, cheap drinks. .. wait, I believe we have stumbled upon a British dive bar! My friend and I were dishing and drinking and singing along to the music(The Jam, if you must know, and Paul Weller actually lives in this neighborhood). The bartender was great, and kept playing our requests — impressed with my idiot savant-like tendency to know all lyrics to all songs. This was a real locals hangout. Cider on tap(my new favorite thing). A steady stream of characters, locals and. .. me and my best pal.

Maybe it’s just me, but I like this pub in spite of it’s not having all the bells and whistles I often look for in a pub. From the outside it looks very promising with the bright red paint and quaint cross pane windows. Once inside you know that you’re in close quarters, so you either need to mind your own business or know how to mix with the locals. There was a football game on that had everyone’s attention when I first went walked in. I’m not a huge fan and was glad that it ended and the bartender put on some music. It was some old stuff and when I started humming along to it, he picked up on it. When he put more music on, he asked what I liked and put that on and started a conversation. I like that kind of a bartender. That’s what you need in a small place. In the other reviews of Windsor it says that they don’t have food, but they are attached to a Thai restaurant and several people passed through the bar to order take-away. The smell of the Thai food was a bit off-putting, not that it smelled bad, but just that I didn’t want to smell food while in the pub.

Bog standard drinks pub. Large, including large outside area and nice selection of drinks. There’s nothing overly interesting or wrong with the place, which means this review is extremely hard to write. Bit like having a KFC. Fine but distinctly underwhelming when compared to say Nandos. Or Belgium.

A small but decent pub a stone’s throw away from Warwick Avenue station. When I first came here, there was a drunken couple sitting at the bar who greeted my friend and me by slapping a ten pound note down on the bar before walking out and saying«Your first one’s on us.» It’s because of that first experience that I like this pub so much, but really it is a cozy little place where you’ll be hard-pressed to find customers who don’t live in the area. The bartender who works in the evenings is very charismatic and enjoyable to chat with. Do be aware though that aside from a couple varities of crisps, they don’t serve food here.
