I was wandering around here looking for something yummy and lo and behold, Wrapchic showed her beautiful face to me. I wandered in, and didn’t know what I was getting myself into. This girl loves burritos. Burritos are just so yummy, and big, and I don’t know. They’re just good because you can walk and eat and hold your whole meal in your hand. I suppose it also reminds me of eating Mexican/Tex Mex food from home. The cool thing about Wrapchic is you can choose what you want: burrito = protein + rice, wrap = protein + salad bowls = burrito or wrap without tortilla, wrapchos= burrito or wrap without tortilla but with tortilla chips! Omg the options, how unique! How strange! I settled for the Soya Amritsari Wrap, which was amazing. The soya chunks were so big and delicious and the amritsari flavoring was delicious. I didn’t even get rice and it felt as though the burrito was overflowing! I will say it wasn’t possible to eat it and walk, because it was too messy, but I think thats just because the wrapper put some extra love in there.

Combining two of my favourite things in one delicious hand-held package, seems like a great idea on paper. I was a bit worried after reading some of the reviews but I’m pleased to say I needn’t have worried. My double meat burrito was stuffed full of deliciousness, with no leakage! One portion of chicken mughlai with tikka sauce, combined with a portion of chicken Rajasthani and mint chutney, with a liberal sprinkling of cheese. This burrito was delicious. «Why not 5 stars?» I hear you say. To be honest, there are a LOT of good burritos out there so it needs to be pretty special for 5 stars. This was good though, and I’ll happily eat another, just maybe not immediately because I am stuffed!

The merger of burritos and curry? Have I died and gone to heaven? Nope. I just walked down the street to Wrapchic. I think the only thing that would make these burritos better is if they served them wrapped in winning lottery tickets. I used to work nearby but only discovered them in the last few months before we moved offices. Catastrophe! Had to get in a few times while I still could. There are 5 or 6 flavours you can pick for the main part of the burrito. Like most burrito places you can pick from a wrap, a burrito, or a bowl with no wrapper at all. They have a number of extras that are somewhere between burrito extras and curry extras. For the price, it’s a great lunch. They also have small samosas that you can add for a little bit more, if a wrap isn’t quite enough. Frankly, I’d buy a samosa to munch on the way back and then eat the burrito at the office. The other reviews are right that these burritos are innately messier than their Mexican cousins. I think it’s just the nature of the curry fillings. You want to eat these soon after you buy them so they don’t turn into a soggy mess. A delicious soggy mess, but a soggy mess nonetheless.

Disappointed. Went to their new location on Goodge street and it wasn’t that great

Server was rude. Gave me my wrap in a foil already dripping and didn’t give me a napkin. The taste was unimpressive and overpriced. I thought merging two cuisines I liked would be good but was just a soggy mess of over cooked curry

Since my original review, I have, as promised, gone back to try some of the other dishes. I have to say, everything about Wrapchic has improved since then. I am a big fan of their Mutton Madrasi burrito — provided the server asks you what you’d like on it, and you don’t mix in too much of the Mexican flavours. I find the meat plentiful and of good quality, and the Indian flavours excellent; but adding in(very mediocre) salsa just kills the taste and makes it no better than a collection of too-many-things in a burrito. Of course, the point of Wrapchic is to «fuse» the flavours of Indian and Mexican, but in all honesty I find the Mexican part sorely lacking. Put your curry sauce, tasty meat, yoghurt, and rice onto a wrap however, and it’s a winning combination. Truly delicious, and as mentioned previously, FILLING! I also enjoy their chicken wraposa(basically Indian food in a toastie, what’s not to like?!) and I’ve tried their paneer version too. The servers have on occasion been too busy or paying little attention to fulfil my actual requests, which is disappointing(how many times can you say NO salsa?) but on the whole, there have been more hits than misses, now. Oh, and a loyalty card makes everything better — I’m a regular now and for good reason — after a shaky start this is one of my favourite lunch spots in Soho.

Burritos are from Mexico until they’re from India.
