Zizzi

As i am writing this review the redheaded waitress keeps ignoring me. She should have come and clean the empty plates of our starters 30 min ago but instead i had to ask another waiter to do it. And my pizza is nowhere to be seen yet. Most probably they have forgotten about it. What an experience. Uhggh.

I’m really surprised by the Unilocal reviews for Zizzi, this is a 2.5 star Italian at best (I am being generous by rounding up to 3).
Last weekend I attended the England– Australia rugby match at Twickenham. Rather than queue for a hour plus to get a train back to London, we headed onto the Twickenham high-​street to get some food and wait out the masses and Zizzi was the highest rated on Unilocal.
This Zizzi, much like most of the outlets in this large chain, is clean and bright, with friendly staff. However, the food really disappoints… the tag line for Zizzi is «fresh local italian.» It’s very much a stretch to say fresh or even local here. How is a chain with dozens and dozens of locations «local»? How is your food «fresh» if you freeze your chicken before you serve it… just cutting into the chicken breast with a serrated knife left such a weird marking that it was clearly either frozen/​re-​heated chicken or chicken meat/​filling «pressed» into a breast shape… either way fresh it was not.
Though the food was more 2 stars, I rounded up to 3 as the prices in general and especially for drinks were remarkably reasonable…£45 for a bottle of Vueve… not much mark-​up there. Still I think that re-​packaged chicken made me ill.

Holy portion sizes!
I went here for my welcome lunch in my first week of work. Fortunately, they have a «slim» menu so I was able to narrow down what would and wouldn’t put me in pain. I had goat cheese ravioli that was a reasonable portion size and completely delicious. I’m skeptical about how «skinny» it was, but it tasted amazing and was the perfect amount of food.
My colleagues ordered various flatbreads and pizzas which were all massive and gushed about. Some were meaty, some were veg, all were enjoyed immensely.
The décor is really nice. I wouldn’t have expected it to be a chain based on how cool and authentic it feels.
Gorgeous bathrooms, too.
Our server was very nice and friendly.
Overall, a super experience and I’m sure I’ll be back.
I did get tomato sauce all over my silk top on my first day, but I can’t really blame the restaurant for that.

Love love love. This is GREAT for a chain. We booked a table of 25 and the service was fab, food was on time and turnaround was quick. The staff are lovely, food is amazing and the price is right. They also take a taste card.

It’s a Zizzi’s and part of a chain, but this is one of the better ones, spotlessly clean and efficient. (Trust me there are some really awful ones!)
The food is pretty good for the brand, but it’s the service that has always impressed me here. On my last visit one of my party forgot a bag & the waiter came running down the road after us.
So, you have to give it 5 stars based on that, oh & there’s a fairly lively atmosphere!

The service in Zizzi was friendly and quick, so it’s good when you need a break from shopping in Richmond. It is always a good chain for reliably tasty Italian food — chicken and mushroom risotto is good. Used a 2 for 1 voucher too, so it was incredibly reasonable. The Richmond branch also seemed particularly clean!

Zizzi in Richmond is one of the many chain food places on the high street. The service here was good and they were willing to accept our 2 for 1 vouchers on a Friday (when they technically weren’t valid).
Then again, on a Friday lunchtime when your restaurant is empty, you don’t want to be turning away 12 people!
Oddly enough, they didn’t have everything on the menu though

Agree, a good value chain, pasta and sauces acceptable. Good for quick meal.
