You need to register before attending a bingo session, but it’s easy and free, just filling in a form. When you go in, you go and decide how many books to buy– costs vary depending on the night and prize available. You can rent electronic marking machines that do the marking for you, but that takes away half the fun! The staff were extremely helpful, they could see my friend and I were confused and had never been to a Bingo hall before, and kept checking we were OK and understood. Beacon Bingo is a huge hall– I would guess it could seat about 1000, all in little tables. They have a canteen at the front selling pie and chips, and other kinds of fast food, as well as a bar if you want to buy a drink. Quite a fun night out– although we didn’t win anything, one old lady near us won £500– and she didn’t even smile! No reaction, nothing. Some people don’t know a good thing even when it hits them in the face.
