Quaint pub situated on the edge of the forest, with the essentials when it comes to beer. Feels old and established inside which is welcome on a cold winters evening, and has a terrific steak pie — probably the best pie I’ve ever eaten in my life.
Doesn’t get five-​stars simply because it’s so popular that it’s often very busy. Staff however bust a gut to serve you as quick as possible.
Definitely worth grabbing a pint or three.

I have been going to this pub for many years, the food is excellent. The fish and chips is I believe the best dish of all. The pub is very clean and welcoming, you can take your dog inside, if its well behaved, the landlord and his Father are very caring, lovely people. Its lovely to sit outside in the garden for Lunch, on Warm sunny day with a glass of wine, and a pint for your other half. Enjoy the peace as theirs no music, you can sit and talk, yes its the best Pub in Loughton.

TOP PUB… Lived in loughton for 25years and the Vic has always been a great venue. Good selection of ales and lagers… Menu is excellent… covers all tastes from a brilliant fish and chips to great steaks/​homemade pies/roast…etc.Lovely garden… good staff. clean and welcoming. Different class to The oak/​Carpenters/​forresters…

A great, welcoming, friendly boozer. No ear shattering music, a good selection of lagers and ales and guest beers and best of all consistently good food including some great fish dishes. Well done landlord, the perfect local surrounded by some real dire public houses.
