I’ve been to this pub a couple of times now and I really want to love it… but for some reason I don’t. Aesthetically, it’s really lovely. Big open spaces, well decorated, a big log fire by the door. It also has the perfect location, right on the quay side in the pretty harbor of Lymington. The food, however, is pretty average. The main menu is standard pub grub. They did have a few specials which stood out — I went for the muscles and the boyf went for ox cheek. Both were good but not outstanding. The service was a bit lacking. There was only one visible waitress/bar tender who was clearly rushed of her feet so there was a bit of a wait to be served. She then proceeded to tell us how unhelpful her colleagues were being! I don’t think this was really appropriate and certainly didn’t add anything to our experience. The drinks prices were quite steep too — over a fiver each for the smallest glasses of wine I have ever seen. I have to say the the Sauvignon Blanc was good though. Overall, no major complaints, just not enough good stuff to make me rush back!

Recently refurbished pub. The interior is very much done in a nautical theme, but not as bad as it may sound. The food is good, in particular the Sunday lunch. The menu is well done, mainly traditional British dishes with clever little twists. There is a patio areato the rear sitiing about 40 people, however there is no smoking in this outside area. The service is generally good, although when it is busy you can be waiting quite a while. Overall, a pleasant pub in a nice location on the quay. Sunday lunch for 2 with wine, and desert £50 approx.
