The Hobler Inn

Your experience at the Hobler Inn is definitely going to be a function of the mood of the host/​hostess on a given evening. A large group us went here on a Saturday night and to the hostess’ credit she did find us room to sit outside since they were full booked inside. The outside space is very roomy and I could imagine having some amazing times here on a nice sunny evening. Overall I was very impressed with the layout of The Hobler Inn.
The food was tasty and if you’re looking for a nice dinner this is a place to check out. What let the Hobler Inn down in my opinion was the lack of interest in providing any type of service to my friends and me. For example, we had to make numerous trips inside to grab forks, napkins and other basic necessities since the wait staff barely came outside. In the end we even moved all our plates to an empty table so that we could eat dessert. I’ll admit that they did us a favour by letting us sit outside but the complete lack of table service was unacceptable. When the bill arrived they automatically added a 16% service charge since we were a party of 6 or more. I protested that we basically served ourselves and the 16% charge was removed so we could decide our own tip.
I would go to the Hobler Inn again in the future but would be hoping for better service next time around.

A really nice traditional pub that made a great pit stop on one of our walks. We had a well deserved pint and a cheese sandwich here — it was a sarnie and a half! The bread was like the bread my mamgi would have been proud of — thick and fresh. It was served with salad and chunky chips too. There were traditional ales on offer and the staff were really helpful and friendly.
