Lovely pub. Great atmosphere. Very friendly staff. Lots of parking. Below average food though.

The Park Gate Inn was refurbished several years ago and the new layout is very nice. It is clean and neat with three open fires and good sized tables. The food is average pub grub with slightly higher than average prices. The real stumbling point for this place is the service. Having eaten here two or three times the rules change on every visit. Sometimes you have to order at the bar and sometimes you get your order taken. The staff are never interested in serving and can barely muster a hello. Having waited a long time between the starter and main course we managed to wait twenty-five minutes for our dessert to arrive then gave up and went to pay the bill at the bar(we had to queue to do that too). I wouldn’t recommend the PGI we ended up being there two hours and twenty minutes and only getting a round of drinks, starters and main course.

A nice looking place: clean, welcoming and nice ‘fresh’ décor. However, the food was only warm, not hot. It was obviously reheated, and not even reheated well. Quality was low and not worth the prices charged. If it had been freshly made, the flavours could have been quite nice, but that was not the case. Good for an afternoon drink, perhaps after a game on golf course next door, but avoid it if you’re looking for decent food.

If you like great British Sunday Roast or good pub food you should go for the Park Gate Inn. We went from London two times to this pubon a Sunday and every trip was worth it. The food and the atmosphere of the 330 years old pub is worth it. They have a big garden and you can visit Leeds castle which is a short stroll away. The pub is fully wheelchair accessible, they have disabled facilities and disabled parking spaces.
