Within the confines of Mallusk Industrial Estate lies a campus location of the Belfast Metropolitan College. This is the BMC Automotive Academy which was opened in 1998 to train and educate those in the motor industry. The facility is comprised of much state of the art technology, including industry standard MOT test lane, 1000 hp rolling road dynamometer, truck brake testing equipment, Bosch Texa and various other industry standard diagnostic test systems.(This is all gobbledegook to me, but in the know, will know!) BMC offer a range of courses here which are fully comprehensive. These include; NVQ level 3 apprenticeships; Assessors Awards allowing mature technicians to become mentors to apprentices; and management courses which are tailored to meet the requirements of both the person and the company. Approval and support from the Department for Employment & Learning– Accreditation from the Institute of the Motor Industry. The opening of this facility is great boost for the motor industry which will train and educate the motor heads of the future.
