Being on business in the area, we were told about the Whatley Manor restaurant. A 2 Michelin star restaurant, we decided to visit the brasserie. Le Mazot, despite being a Brasserie benefits from all the excellent food the main restaurant has. When we were seated we were offered a bread basket. All of it was baked in the restaurant and simply tasted excellent. As an appetizer we had the duck terrine and a fondue. Both were well made and excellent. For entrée I had the cod, which was expertly made and just tasted moist and good. The green beans and purée were also excellent. My colleague had the steak which was moist, tender and delicious. For dessert we had the fromage frais and vanilla mousse which were sweet, yet refreshing. Finally, the service was superb and impeccable. A true 5 star.
