I’m going to be honest, I don’t really *like* Accessorize. It’s all a bit girly-twirly for me, with their cutesy little purses and those things you dangle off your mobile phone and whatnot. Granted, the jewelery is sometimes OK, but it’s standard high street fare, really. What I do like, though, about Accessorize, is the great range of winter woollens. Namely their ace berets. Anyone who knows me will attest to the fact that in the Winter months I am rarely seen without a beret. I own about ten, most of which have come from Accessorize over the years. Yes, their hats are priced around £15, which seems steep compared to Primark, but you really do get what you pay for. My current fave is a super-soft grey leopard affair, which cost £15 and is 50% cashmere. Cashmere! On my head! Lovely stuff, and well worth the price. I like the Piccadilly branch of Accessorize because it is small, and thusly has limited stock of girly-twirly nonsense. What it does have in Winter, however, is the full beret range. If I’m travelling by train in Winter, I always pop into Accessorize to see if they have anything that takes my fancy, and they nearly always do. So, the Piccadilly branch of Accessorize gets 3 stars from me because it is small enough to navigate, and has provided me with some lovely berets.

My dad is forever teasing me that living down south will turn me into a southern softie. I never believed him until this afternoon when ten minutes after arriving back up north, I found myself running into Accessorize to look at the scarves and hats. I know I should have gritted my teeth and acclimatised to the change in temperature but what the hell, the window display of stripey scarves, long sleeve gloves and hats with pom poms drew me in. The reasonable prices also twisted my arm and convinced me I’d need a warm scarf if I was going to be walking around the Christmas market, sipping mulled wine in the cold wind. I know, I’ve let myself and my Northern roots down!

Just like every other Accessorize in the land this one has the usual selection of delectable accessories, beautiful bags and gorgeous jewels. This shop is ideally located in Piccadilly station, Manchester’s main train station. If you’re a bit forgetful like me, then its a fab place to pick up something glam before heading off on your travels. Because this isn’t in the main shopping areas people often forget about it so when its sale time its often worth a look for big bags because they always have loads left. Its also an ideal place to spend half an hour when you’ve missed your train.
