My sister bought my partner a voucher off groupon for his birthday, the resturant was really nice the décor was lovely and the really friendly. The food was lovely we got a glass of wine and a sirloin steak with vegetables was really nice a bit over done but that’s my own fault as I asked for medium well. For dessert I got chocolate fudge cake with cream it was really nice prob one of the best I have has. The only down side it was really quite and not much atmosphere so for that I prob wouldn’t return even though the food was lovely and do were the staff.

I had never heard of this place until I was given a Groupon for my birthday. It is one of those places that you wouldn’t just stumble upon. On arrival on a Sunday afternoon we were the only people in there which was a little strange. We were greeted by a friendly waiter who showed offered to choose a table. The offer for us was any steak, a desert and a glass of wine. The steak I had was decent but lacking any potatoes. Also the amount of veg was very small. For desert the afogato was excellent. I’m only rating 3 stars as the place was lacking ambience and the food was only OK.

As part of the Manchester Food and Drink Festival, Al Bacio were offering a pasta banquet. Seeing as around 60% of my diet is the aforementioned carb, we couldn’t resist booking — a quick email to the restaurant and we were all set with a table at 7.30pm. Al Bacio is fairly tucked away and it felt nice to be away from Deansgate, Spinningfields etc. There were plenty of people inside, both at the bar and at their tables, but we were seated immediately. We were presented with both food and drink menus, despite mentioning that we were booked for the MFDF special, and it wasn’t until the second waiter came over that the food menu was taken and we could explain again that we were there for the MFDF offer. It was while we were waiting that it dawned on us that there were only three other tables dining on this special while the rest of the room were on the full menu. This slowed service down throughout the meal and meant we were frequently left waiting. The pasta dishes were good but nothing special at all. I took photos but they all look like the same dish. The first 3 were pasta with a form of tomato sauce, then lasagne(we left after this final dish.) Nothing was explained to us when on the table and there was no sense of what we were having next. It was only when we got up to leave the waiter mentioned the next course was lasagne. I liked the sharing aspect of the meal but that was about it. Sadly I don’t think Al Bacio will get return custom from us.

Came with with a group of friends from my Italian class and we had a great evening. The food was good and service friendly and efficient. Go on a Thursday for the wonderful singer /karaōke.

I’d never heard of this place until I was hunting on Groupon for some good offers. The deal was great, a glass of prosecco on arrival followed by a three course meal for two people, all for less than £30. Portion sizes were perfect and the staff were so friendly we felt like we’d been there numerous times before. The menu was vast and as it’s all freshly cooked on the premises you can easily add or remove items to suit you. A homely Italian restuarant that I would return to again and again, even without the Groupon discount.

If you’re a fan of Italian cuisine, head off down to King Street South for a real pizza the action. Formerly San Carlo, the recently opened Al Bacio is a great addition to Manchester’s restaurants. Our waitress couldn’t have been more attentive as we perused the impressive menu. I chose the deep fried whitebait, a fave of mine, which was crispy and lightly spiced. My wife went for the calamari, which although she said was tasty, could have been a little crispier. For my main I opted for an Italian classic, chicken wrapped in parma ham topped with mozzarella and served with a spicy tomato sauce. The chicken was succulent and the crispy ham added just the right amount of saltiness to complement it. My wife’s salmon and tomato pasta was also a hit. However for her, pud was the highlight of the evening. I went for tiramisu, I know it’s a staple but for me an Italian is measured by the quality of this coffee and cream delicacy and this one didn’t disappoint, while she chose a refreshing lemon ice cream bombe creation. Sharp and refreshing with a raspberry coulis, it was described as Sicily on a plate. Belissimo!

Lovely new Italian restaurant on king street south. My first impressions were good as we were greeted by a very friendly waitress at the door and immediately taken to our seats. A glance at the menu showed that the fare was going to be traditional. I ordered the calamari to start which could have done with a little more cooking but my main of salmon and tomato pasta didn’t disappoint. However the highlight for me was the dessert my lemon mousse was amazing and my husband’s tirimasu was delicious. The décor was stylish and modern. Just a shame it wasn’t as busy as it could have been. Get along to al bacio and grab a pizza the action.
