Definitely more glamorous than Dog Bowl, but a little bit more expensive so it depends what you’re looking for really. My friends had tried to book a bowling lane in advance, but they were told that this could only be done if you booked a table and ate as well so we decided to just chance it. There were six of us and we enjoyed the large tabled seating area surrounding the bar whilst we supped on their weird yet wonderful cocktail selection. It did take me multiple reads of the menu to decide which drink to order as there is a large selection. I ordered a rum based cocktail which was described as ‘The Zombies’ sibling so I knew full well it was gunna be fruity, strong and delicious and it certainly was. After about half an hour we were told that a lane had become available so we wandered over and changed our shoes. I was extremely surprised when we were informed that we could start a tab and the staff would take our order and bring across our drinks so that we didn’t have to disturb our game. The lanes are super trendy and in pristine condition. The screens of course played silly bowling cartoon clips between each persons go, but that’s all the fun. The staff were amazing and the cocktails were delicious. This would certainly be a great place to start a night out, or for a large birthday celebration.

Not my normal type of place and for what you get I think a little expensive. The staff are polite although one did accidentally spill drinks all down one of our party, so no points there. I had a salad which was under dressed, but the rest of my party had burgers and seemed fairly happy with them, I just felt like there are far better options in Manchester if you want a burger, and you are likely to get sides as part of the cost.

Its been so long since i’ve been bowling so I headed here on a Saturday evening after hearing good things I made sure I booked in advance! We arrived a little early however it was nice and relaxed as we headed to the bar and perused to cocktail menu. I went for a Desperados styled beer(cheapest thing on the menu!) and my friend went for a cocktail(slightly pricer!) After taking a seat it wasn’t long before we were shown to the bowling alley and changed into our fetching shoes! Considering it was around 9pm it was pretty quiet however it busied up as we came to end of the end of our two games(8.75 a pop). There wasn’t any need to wander around to find the lighter bowling balls or back to the bar as it was all waitress service! Even though the games were reasonably priced our bill all added up to £65! Beware the cocktails are so overpriced here although they are pretty tasty…

Best bowling alley in town although I’m not sure why I go when I’m truly terrible at bowling! Keep your eye out for half term offers there’s usually a good discount on games and get yourself a milkshake — you won’t find one tastier anywhere else.

It’s been an absolute age since my last visit to All Star lanes — my last visit was a friends 30th birthday party in fact — so when my sister visited from York we thought we’d check it out. The cocktail menu had changed a little bit since our last visit, and we opted to start with Tommy’s Margaritas — which were delicious! I would have liked a salt rim, but this twist on the traditional was good enough without. Then we decided to try a sharing cocktail and were presented with a giant glass goblet filled with ‘Love Potion No.9′ — this drink looked great, but we both found it overly tart and lacking in potency, unlike our Margaritas. For a Friday night this place was pretty quiet, we had not trouble getting a comfy seat and after the 6pm rush the bar area emptied out — although the lanes and restaurant stayed pretty busy. I still think All Star Lanes is a bit pricey for what you actually get — our drinks were not cheap and the service lacked a little, especially when a member of staff attempted to clean away my sisters full Martini glass! I can see now why the place was so quiet. Either up your game(see: Alchemist, Botanist, Elixir) or alter your prices(see: Almost Famous, El Capo, Hold Fast).

Been here a few times and its a really nice, cool looking venue. They have gone for the 1950s American Diner sort of feel and its good place I think to go with a group — have a few games of bowling, have some drinks and eat some food. The first time I came here was actually during the launch and was crazy busy. I remember being at the bar — in one of the private rooms — and spending ages there watching the bar staff take ages over each cocktail. By the time it got to me being served, he said he was not making an cocktails as it took too long. A bit disappointed but understandable with the number of people waiting. I had a go on the bowling — there were just 2 lanes in this private room — and they seems a bit shorter than normal bowling lanes. I think it was just an «optical illusion» though. And hopefully they were not shorter because my score was awful! My excuse is that I had not been bowling in ages — my only bowling recently-ish had been on the Wii! Its not as easy to spin it and it can be more painful after awhile! All Star Lane has 2 private rooms in total — the other one is not as big and not as private — and I think it doesn’t have its own separate bar. I have not eaten here but have drank here and had some of the cocktails which I liked. If you dont fancy eating in All Star Lane, you have a options nearby — a couple places next door, others across the road and Spinningfields is just a few minutes walk away. All Star Lane have various offers on — some regular, some special. For example, there is a special on Mothers Day this Sunday — free glass of presecco and dessert for everyone. They have a regular offer on Mondays which they called Groundhog(Mon)Day where you get 2 games for £10. The diner has an offer this month I think which is a special Godfather burger. Overall its a nice place and I reckon a good venue if organising a big group event.

Got asked to come along by a friend and so I did never realy heard much about all star lanes as I mainly stick to northern quarter. Walked in the décor was nice and receptionist was friendly enough. We got seated at our table and there was a large rowdy group sat opposite out table being loud. The server was nice and friendly where he started to reel of a load of stuff that was not avaliable on the menu this was dispointing as it limited what I could eat The meal well what can I say butter milk chicken burger was one of the worst versions of this I have had and tasted as for the texture is what rubbery. There was not very much chicken inside and mainly padded out with veg. On a whole a bad first experience but willing to try again on another day to see if they where just having a bad day. I would recomend they offer a sharing or slider for people who are indecisive sort of a tasting menu.

I’ve always loved bowling, even though I suck at it(I blame my weak wrists, not the technique — ha!) And even though I lost 3 games to nil I really enjoyed my afternoon in All Star Lanes. This place is pretty great if you’re looking for somewhere fun to go where you can have a few games of bowling, some drinks and eats too. I didn’t eat here, although I have heard good things about the food, it was a little early in the day and we had booked Reds True BBQ for dinner so I didn’t want to eat too much beforehand. The 3 games of bowling I had here with my friend from London were so much fun! I didn’t have the barriers up either. Yey! But still lost. We drank beer and cocktails for hours and had a blast. Pretty sure anyone who comes here with mates is going to have a fab time!

just popped in here for a cocktail — you know how it is darling, and they had really nice ones. They’ve gone for specialties rather than the bog standard menu. Bonus points for naming a drink after the only man who looks better with a mustache, yes they have a drink called a Tom Selleck sour!

A fun place for a night out with decent food but totally unreasonable prices. Beware of the £15 burger and bowling deal — consider that it includes a very limited range of burgers, which don’t come with sides, and that drinks are pricey(e.g. £5.75 for a pint of Blue Moon). I had the Monterey Jack cheeseburger which was good but did inspire feelings of ‘why am I eating a just-good burger when I am a stone’s throw away from Almost Famous?’, especially when a similar meal at AF would have been much cheaper. My spiced rum mocha shake was excellent. Bowling was good fun — as it turns out, I’m pretty good at it, which is surprising considering how bad I am at most things. I liked the small setup and it was enjoyably quiet on a Sunday night. Staff were all friendly and helpful, especially considering that we had booked for bowling and then food and wanted to change our booking. This went smoothly. Food service was pretty quick and friendly. Overall I had a nice time and I’m glad I checked out All Star Lanes, but after paying we all admitted to feeling a bit ripped off. Not sure I would go back any time soon as I feel like my money can go a lot further elsewhere.

We went to All Star on a Tuesday night when Utd were playing in the Champions League which probably explains why it was actually pretty quiet as usually most days it’s hard to get a lane unless you book well in advance. I do really like the concept of All Star having visited them in a few times in London before they moved up here as they’re pretty swanky, well looked after, modern and fresh but still with a classic glamorous look and feel to them. They do specials on a Monday of £10 for 2 games and I believe if you have a yellow Spinningfields card then discounts can be yours most days of the week! The bar is fairly well stocked with beers(even though the bar man offered to talk me through the beer menu in case I didn’t understand them because«they’re all American» — I was then hoping for something really unique but really all they had was Sam Adams, Brooklyn and Goose Island Honkers so pretty standard) and the cocktails were going down really well with the girls in our group! I always enjoy bowling(probably the idea of bowling more than the actual game once a few gutter balls go down) and it’s a great night out with friends. Can’t wait to go again, I could probably just do with being a little less like Mr Burns in the classic Simpsons pin pals episode!

Have been wanting to try this place for ages and finally got to try it yesterday for my husband’s birthday. We were impressed straight away by the warm welcome and free birthday cocktail. We ate and bowled here and it all went very smoothly. The food was great we had burgers and hotdogs which were tasty and filling. The bowling was also good fun and there was a much nicer atmosphere than you get at the standard bowling places such as LA Bowl. A fantastic way to spend an evening. I’ll definitely be back.

I’m not a bowling fan. For some reason I just can’t seem to do it… I usually start off ok but then get cocky and end up being rubbish. I avoid it as much as possible but have bowled at both All Star Lanes and Dog Bowl. All Star is my favourite for its American style charm and family friendly lanes. I have eaten here a few times. It is the ideal location after a couple of drinks and I’ve usually ended up here later on after some rum based cocktails at Revolucion De Cuba. The cocktails are varied with a great mix of spirits and strengths. My favourite is the roller girl made with bubble gum syrup! Food wise I would recommend the steak sandwich with added roquefort but be mindful it is served VERY rare unless you ask for it otherwise. I am also a fan of the goats cheese and beetroot salad if you are watching your waistline. I do think the food is expensive especially if you are expecting the traditional bowling alley type prices we usually have in the UK.

I was slightly upset by how expensive a relatively tame night out for 2 here turned out to be(£85 for 2 bowling games, 2 non alcoholic drinks, 2 alcoholic drinks, 1 starter and a mains) HOWEVER I did have a really good time. I alternated between gutter balls and scoring 9 with the skill that only a person who has developed the technique my friend christened the«lob and score» can attain. The bowling area is of course much fancier then your average alley and there is table service which means you can easily«enhance» your game with a delicious milkshake(which featured whisky, honey, and ginger). I had been looking forward to the deep friend mac n cheese and it didn’t disappoint. The pulled pork roll was fairly good and the fries were excellent. The hot dog looked good too — not a skinny little dog but a substantial sausage(I really can barely type substantial sausage but I didn’t know how else to put it. I can’t believe I’ve now typed it twice). I didn’t realise toppings were £1 extra each so be careful if those are offered to you. Root beer float was very heavy on the ice cream so it’s more of a slightly medicinal milkshake, r really. Not that there’s anything wrong with that. I was surprised it was so quiet on a Sunday night because previously we tried to come on a Saturday and it was completely rammed but actually I think it’s much nicer to come when you can chat easily and it’s not really bustling, although I imagine the atmosphere on those nights is good too. It’s also bigger and less hipstery inside than I was expecting. It’s slightly more glam than somewhere like Brooklyn Bowl, especially the bar area. The rock n roll music was awesome!

When my friend wanted to go to All Stars for drinks, I was sceptical. No one goes to a bowling alley for food and drink. Massive surprise to see so much whiskey on display, and the whiskey cocktails were ace. Great to see a bar serve big blocks of clarified ice for a touch of class(no ice cubes in sight). My bartender friend was impressed too, so that’s a stamp of approval. Simple but good! Will edit this review when I’ve tried the bowling and food…

All Star Lanes was the location of our company Christmas party back in December; I knew very early on in the year but, due to our strategy for keeping people excited for the event, had to keep it a secret! The booking process was simple from the beginning and they were clear about technical aspects such as payment terms etc. Although we explained it was a secret event and never to use the landline, they unfortunately did — they also didn’t seem to take us off their sales list, meaning we got endless calls about having an event, despite already booking with them! Sigh. They redeemed themselves on the night. Based in the Jungle Room, a leopard carpeted treat, we had two lanes to ourselves and a plethora of food and drinks. We had everything from pigs in blankets to deep fried mac & cheese fritters; these aren’t your usual canapes, and they’re more than happy to lay on a tasting if you’re curious as to what you should serve. Staff knew exactly what was in the cocktails, as requested, and bar service ran fairly smoothly — it did get rather busy once all the pre-bought drinks had gone and people flocked to the bar, but they soon got used to it and kept up! They were also very patient; once we’ve all had a few, it can get a bit rowdy i.e. people thinking it funny to walk on the actual bowling alley, but noone felt put out at any time and they communicated with as frequently. Great place for any event you might be planning.

I’ve been to All Star Lanes a couple of times now and they were both for work social nights out, so I can’t really comment on the prices of the bowling itself, as my company paid for all that. However, as a venue overall, it’s a really cool place to spend a couple of hours with family, friends or colleagues knocking down some pins and knocking down some American beers and/or cocktails. For our evening we had the use of their private room which had two lanes, its own bar, bowling shoe racks and unisex WCs so you’re pretty much self-sufficient in there. As part of our package we were provided with innumerable trays of finger food(the pulled pork mini burgers and ‘meat rolls’ were two personal highlights). The food was extremely good and everyone commented on the generous amounts we were getting. Drinks-wise, as they have a captured audience in there we were paying £4.50 for a smallish American beer(I can’t comment on spirits or cocktails), but be prepared for highish prices. Of the previous bowling alleys I’ve been too, this is definitely one of the best run, with 50s décor throughout and very accommodating staff. If you’re stuck for party venue ideas, this is a great one.

Went here for my sisters birthday and it was brilliant. The booking process was really easy and if you want to eat either before your bowling they can link your booking so you have plenty of time to enjoy your food and then go for your bowling. My sister was running late and they simply shifted everything to accommodate! Staff were super friendly and knowledgeable. They have at lane drinks service so you don’t have to loose your bowling flow to get some refreshment! We had a really good night and the birthday card and cocktail that they gave my sister was a really lovely touch– would recommend. Yes the bowling isn’t t the cheapest(we went on a Thursday at 7.30pm) but i really enjoyed it if you want to have a more pocket friendly evening go on a Monday when its 2 games for £10 — can’t grumble at value like that

Loads of bowling lanes, the drinks are really good, especially my new favourite cocktail from there called Honey Pot — honey whiskey, apple juice and ginger, I think — it’s amazing! The food is delicious as well, I wasn’t actually expecting it to be as good as it was the first time I ate there. The squid starter which I’ve posted a pic up of is great, just because the presentation of it in a little Chinese take away box is so cute! But everything I’ve tried on the menu has been fab. It usually ends up being a fairly expensive night, especially if you’re drinking a few cocktails and you’ve got to add on the price to bowl, but I think it’s definitely worth it. I’ve been here for a few friends’ birthdays and I think as a venue if you’re with a big group of people or an occasion like that, its perfect! :)
