I love this– little bit of a greasy spoon, but with that eclectic junk shop look I just. can’t get enough of. Here are bagels, wraps, sandwiches, decent tea, coffee and full Englishes. It’s not huge but there are a few tables around if you want to settle in– or you can take away the greasy sausage sarnie of your dreams. The pictures on the wall show old Manchester and classic movie/tv stars. The place is filled with enough bric a brac and mismatched tables and chairs to keep my eyes occupied. And I nearly forgot to mention, it’s under a brickwork railway arch. I’m easily pleased. Cool. Just don’t sit too close to the kitchen if you want to avoid the scent of frying fat…

Sure this place used to be good. Not been for a while. This morning orders a bacon sandwich(and hashbrown) to take away. It took about 10 minutes. Wasn’t particularly busy While I was waiting, family complained. They had been waiting 45 mins & what they got in end wasn’t good. Owner/Manager didn’t seem bothered — almost like«whatever» but said they could have a refund. Also, girl serving was miserable. Didn’t communicate with me(the customer) after taking order. Nothing about the delay/being cooked now/etc. It appeared she was the daughter of the owner(or chef/cook) who was downstairs — the person I mentioned above who got the refund. Maybe the day staff are more friendly and she was being forced to work by her Dad? The actual bacon sandwich and hashbrown I got was alright.

This place always stinks of cooking fat/oil when you walk past, they only redeeming feature is sitting outside at the back which is pleasant. Sorry but I don’t want to spend the rest of the day smelling like I’ve just French-kissed a deep fat dryer.

My friend and I were visiting Manchester and this quickly became our favorite spot for a coffee. We were happy to see the nice gentleman who made our coffee each morning. As with others we met in Manchester, he was very friendly and full of information for a couple of tourists. Next time I am in Manchester I will be back here for my morning coffee.

I type as I’m sat in Bake Station at 1.15pm and it’s just exploded. No, there’s not a bomb under it, it’s not been attacked by scrotty rioters, it’s exploded with CUSTOM. Every single suit on Deansgate seems determined to get their lunchtime sarnie from this little spot. If you want to choose from a vast variety of different blankets for your sandwich fillings, from bagels and wraps to French sticks and paninis, then this is your go-to on Deansgate, fo’ sho’. If you want foot-in-the-posterior coffee also, you can hop here too. Yup, Bake Station makes my exclusive coffee list. They brew a good cup o’ Joe. I know this because I was at a marketing meeting whilst drinking it and became increasingly animated. I’d often overlooked Deansgate places because if I ever find myself on this particular stretch, I’m usually in transit. But Bake Station has the location factor nailed — not only does it have an entrance on the main drag but it’s also accessible from the Great Northern complex where the cinema, gym, casino and massive plaza are. Clever bunnies. I may not have refuelled food-wise here yet but as I’m currently here, I can tell you it smells lovely and it’s really reasonably priced, plus looking over I can see it’s made fresh. Plus they have so many cakes on offer, the décor’s lovely, the seats are comfy and it’s not disappointingly slick as so many places in this area can be. It has character. And the wifi’s cracking! Good job Bake Station, a virtual office right round the corner from my abode. I might even come here for breakfast tomorrow.

Bake Station. It’s a station of baking, which doesn’t discriminate against other forms of cooking, such as boiling, frying, poaching, roasting, grilling, scrambling and sautéing(probably not this last one actually). They sell a gorgeous fried breakfast for an alarmingly cheap(for Deansgate) price of £3−4. This breakfast alone encompasses many methods of cooking, but not(as far as I can imagine) baking. Question: Does that count as false advertising? Answer: No, stop asking stupid questions. A few baked goods are available including some tasty sweet ones, but for me the breakfasts, along with the coffees, are the main attraction. Coffees are really well done, as good as Starbucks or Nero, which is very unusual in my opinion. Even places with a seemingly identical coffee machine somehow seem to magically make their coffees considerably worse which is a fair effort. No such effort is gone to at the Bake Station. So go there, its better than Piccadilly, Oxford Road and Deansgate.
