Well, there isn’t much difference between this CEX and the one in the Arndale apart from size, so if you’ve been to one you’ve been to the other. It offers second-hand electronic goods, DVDs, CDs and games for low, low prices. You can get them cheaper online, but you can save postage costs and time this way so it’s up to you. Everything’s arranges in an ordered fashion as well so it’s not hard to find what you’re looking for if it’s there. They act as a place to sell old stuff as well, although unless it’s too cheap to bother to sell on eBay, I’d avoid doing so.

The overwhelming smell of boys’ sweat and trainers might make you think you’re entering another record shop but in fact, CEX is actually a secondhand store specialising in DVDs, video games, laptops and mobile phones. I’d never dream of buying a phone or ipod here but if I have a few minutes to kill before catching a train from Piccadilly Station, I often pop in and check out the DVDs. As well as having a diverse selection of new and recent films from action movies and thrillers to rom-coms, they have a small world cinema section and a TV drama section. Right now, there’s box sets of The Wire and The Sopranos going for £10-£20 and Prison Break for £18-£25. Which you should go for? Gotta be Tony and his motley crue of troubadours, right?

At about half the size of the bigger CEX in the Arndale Centre, this store looks more like a mobile phone shop from the outside. It’s situated on Station Approach, just down from Piccadilly train station. There are all the same bargains on dvds and computer games to be had as in the Arndale, just a slightly smaller selection. It seems less busy as well. Sometimes it can take so long to get served at the Arndale CEX that it might be worth a trip to this one once in a while.

One of the best places in town to visit for a bargain but you may have your work cut out finding exactly what you want and instead coming out with a pile of DVDs you didn’t expect to buy! CEX concept is brilliant return your old cds or dvds and then get money back for them to put towards their stuff. Some of the stuff there can be of slightly poorer quality with a bit of wear and tear, but its often priced down to ensure you don’t get ripped off. The CD section is a bit mixed, with it difficult to find the exact cd you want, but they have made moves to alphabetise it now to make the job slightly easier. You can also find copies of dvds you didn’t even know were released at bargain prices! If you’re looking for a dvd for yourself for a night in, or a cd you forgot to buy and want t get now, I would always check CEX first.

As opposed to the other store in the Arndale, this branch of CEX is better to go to because now there is a large one in town everyone goes there! And when you want to trade something in, you might have to wait a good 2 – 3 hours for your item to be tested, you will only have to wait a maximum of about 30 minutes here! The staff are all young lads who are friendly and helpful. The shop itself is little compared to the other, and doesnt have such a choice, but if you are trading in, you can always get your credit note and then go down to the big store to spend it!
