What can I say. It is great to write a review about a great place. And it is indeed a great little Korean takeaway! Not only a takeaway of course, as it has plenty of space downstairs in the basement if you feel like staying in. eatGoody can’t boast about most plentiful menu, but there is something for everyone — be it something healthy, something spicy or something vegetarian. Actually, their dishes are healthy but qualify for comfort food as well, which doesn’t happen very often. Each day they offer a different ‘Today’s Special’, a little cardboard box filled with gorgeous Asian flavours. I am there every Wednesday getting my favourite tofu tempura in sweet chilli and soy sauce. Delicious. Staff are lovely, always greet you with a smile and good energy. It gets busy around lunch time, but I have never failed to get a seat and never had to wait for the order too long either. Cannot wait until next Wednesday!

eatGoody is a very recent and pleasant discovery. Incredibly close to uni, it’s a small yet cozy Korean restaurant and takeaway. Some of the dishes are just a bit more expensive than an average student would afford everyday(around 7⁄8 £); though it is always possible to take the daily offer, that is, a dish(everyday different) which costs around 4£. I had rice with damplings and roast potatoes, it was delicious! Not too spicy, served with vegetables and an amazing gravy. Quality here is undoubtedly a priority, along with customer care. I’ll come here again soon, for sure. The only weakness is that credit cards are not accepted; therefore, I advise you all to get some cash and invest it in excellent Korean dishes. ;)

As always I used the Unilocal app to find places nearby… eatgoody came up close by and had recent good reviews so decided to give it a try… Without Unilocal I would never have found it! It is through a small door and up some stairs. I decided to go for a beef dish(can’t remember the name) but it came with some excellent rice. The meal was very tasty. Other meals which were being served all looked excellent. The prices are cheap for the quality… They also do a daily offer but only found out after I’d ordered. I’ve knocked 1star off as I had to sit very uncomfortably at a high bench as they had closed downstairs for cleaning… I think they should leave that until closing time to do a deep clean. But I will definitely be back as the food was amazing!

Having been a Man Met student back in the early noughties, I like to go back down Oxford Rd to reminisce… more recently, I have been using these jaunts to try out some new eating places and this time, it was eatGoody’s turn(thanks to Johnny Q for the recommendation). Next to the Sugden Sport Centre this wee gem of a café is right in the heart of the student area and, whilst I was there, had a steady stream of the young folk tucking into various dishes. I went for the spicy tuna Bibim box after deliberating for a good 10 mins(I always worry about getting food envy!) Luckily, I made the right choice, being a greedy girl — I always like to have a good feed and this box didn’t let me down. Big portion of sticky steamed rice underneath a quad salad of lettuce, radish, carrot and shredded sweet omelette. Atop was a good mound of spicy tuna — not raw tuna(as i was hoping for, but at this price, how could I expect it) — but canned I think, dressed and minced with their house sauce. The box was brought to me with a squeezey bottle of said sauce and boy did I get addicted quick — like siracha, but with a smoky sweet flavour. I genuinely loved every mouthful, and washed it down with the grape aloe vera drink I grabbed from the fridge. I’ve plumped straight for the 5 stars for these 5 reasons: beautiful, fresh korean food, attentive service whilst ordering, clean and cosy setting, small but perfectly apt menu and lastly, its reasonable prices.

This place has good food at reasonable prices. It’s fairly near the universities so it’s a great place for student to grab a bite if they have time. The only bad thing I can think of is that they only accept cash which can be a bit inconvenient at times.

I’ve been here a couple of times before and gave it 3/5, but I’m upgrading to a 4 based on today’s lunch! I went for the hot chicken, which came with rice in a lovely pepper sauce — really tasty. My previous gripe had been that the«special of the day» was quite carb heavy. I actually went there today craving one — sometimes that can be exactly what you need! However, the main dishes are less heavy on the carb and bigger on the other ingredients. I’d say the special is good for a quick fix, but if you’re looking for something more special go for the regular menu.

I eventually popped into eatGoody after severe(good) peer pressure from our Unilocal Manchester community… :-) I really had to go after hearing good things from everyone! So I was up Oxford Road yesterday and it was the perfect excuse to get my Korean on, especially at such a low low price — getting an assorted beef box with rice and veges, chicken dumplings and a grape aloe king(awesome — get one, it will change your life) for £6.50 — wow! Very low key, very low hassle and a really chilled place to eat fresh made food. Cash only so make sure you carry some notes on you.

Thanks to Calvin T and Natalia W, I was serious about this place close to my apartment and decided to pay a visit on lunch time. The only thing I would say is why I haven’t found this place earlier. This is one of those places just like YuZu in Chinatown. They are small and simple. No extensive menus but everything they have are great. I had a Teriyaki chicken Bibimbab with a pot of sweet potato tempera. They serve the Bibimbab in a paper box, but the taste was not shabby at all. The Teriyaki chicken was tasty and well cooked. Sliced egg roll and loads of fresh carrot slices and braised bean sprouts were layered on top of the rice in the bowl. This is not only just being tasty when you mixed them with Korean chilli sauce and also a perfect healthy lunch option. The sweet potato tempura was a little bit greasy for me but it definitely tasted wonderful.

Big fan of this little Korean café. The staff was very friendly and welcoming. I do not know much about Korean food but they were very informing and patient with me as I was contemplating on what to get. I did learn a lot from the Koreans working here. The place is very tiny with more rooms downstairs. The interior design looks like something you would find in Northern Quarter in Manchester. But all in all this is a great place to pop into while you are having your lunch break. Note: ITISLOCATEDBYGROSVENORSTREET(next to Sugden Sports Centre) ITISVERYAFFORDABLE!

One of my best lunches in ages! Number 1 point: CASHONLY. But actually this is not a big deal as there is a cash point right around the corner. I accidentally read something about Korean food this morning which was fatal as then all I could think about was kimchi and bibimbap. It was unfortunate that eatGoody was actually out of kimchi by the time I got there, but the bibimbap was was ready for take away which was v convenient(so many of the places around where I work and the uni are not well set up for fast food/take away, which I guess must be because students have more time). The lovely guy behind the counter pointed out he actually had a daily special(vegetable dumplings) for I think £3.95 compared to the £5.80 for the bulgogi bibimbap which is fairly pricey but I was dead set on it and it turned out I made the right decision because not only is it a generous size but it also tastes great. I was actually surprised it tasted so good because I normally order dolsot bibimbap so I can fry it all with an egg on the side of the hot stone bowl(oh so good!) but the flavours here were great(possibly a factor was my attention wandered while lovely man was adding the chilli pepper paste, so I I failed to say«stop» as instructed and got a very generous amount). I shall be back! Specifically I shall be back on Tuesdays and Thursday which are apparently when bibimbap is the daily special. I coupled this with a pretty decadent milkshake from Archie’s(Reese’s, flake, whipped cream) and excused all of it on the basis of it being Friday. Lunch of KINGS.

I’ve only eaten once at eatGoody, but I’m really quite blown away by my first experience of any Far Eastern cuisine and the whole atmosphere of eatGoody in particular. The décor is all wood, exposed brickwork and nice marble wall counters upstairs, downstairs has plentiful seating at individual tables with Korean television showing on a big screen. I would say the place is as informal(upstairs) or formal(downstairs) as you want it to be. All the staff and over half the customers were young Korean, which gave an authentic feel without being intimidating. And my server was really helpful and happy to talk me through the unfamiliar menu as much as I needed, even as the busy lunchtime service started to kick in. Order at the counter, but then they bring it to your table. They do a different ‘Megadeal’ every day of the week for £3.95, add a side dish for £1.20(see photos for April 2011 megadeal and regular menus). I went for the Tofu version of Bibimbap, which for £1 extra can be served in a ‘Hot Sizzling Bowl’, which suited me fine. The sizzling bowl adds not only heat, it also creates a subtle variety of textures and flavours — the soft rice at the centre of the bowl contrasts with the crunchier sizzled rice at the edge. The idea seems to be to mix the whole thing together and top it off with eatGoody’s sweet chilli sauce to taste. For a health-conscious vegetarian like myself, there are ample choices in the mains and small dishes to keep me coming back — bibimbap, dupbap, ramen, dumplings, tempura. For tourists, bicycle hire is available right next door from Bicycle Boutique, and the whole wider area has a relaxing feel to it which is quite remarkable considering busy Oxford Road is just around the corner.

I came to Eat Goody to get a get a quick lunch recently. My friend and I play badminton in the sports centre across the way and we’d kept on saying that we would have to go and eat there at some point. This place serves little tubs of tasty Korean goodness that make a great and filling lunch. You walk in and order upstairs from the super friendly lady serving and then go downstairs and wait for your food to be brought down to you. This system works just fine. I went for the special of the day which was some tasty and sticky spicy ginger chicken. I thought the meal could have been a bit bigger, but the chicken was tender and not too processed, and it tasted amazing. The specials are usually just under £4, which is really good value. You can easily get a meal for a fiver here, which is just fine by me. Eat Goody makes a great change to getting a sandwich at lunchtime, and is quiet and relaxed as it’s located just a street away from the busy Oxford Road. Time to share the secret I think.
